Fast Mesh-Based Medical Image Registration
In this paper a fast triangular mesh based registration method is proposed.
Having Template and Reference images as inputs, the template image is
triangulated using a content adaptive mesh generation algorithm. Considering
the pixel values at mesh nodes, interpolated using spline interpolation method
for both of the images, the energy functional needed for image registration is
minimized. The minimization process was achieved using a mesh based
discretization of the distance measure and regularization term which resulted
in a sparse system of linear equations, which due to the smaller size in
comparison to the pixel-wise registration method, can be solved directly. Mean
Squared Difference (MSD) is used as a metric for evaluating the results. Using
the mesh based technique, higher speed was achieved compared to pixel-based
curvature registration technique with fast DCT solver. The implementation was
done in MATLAB without any specific optimization. Higher speeds can be achieved
using C/C++ implementations.Comment: Accepted manuscript for ISVC'201
Higgs-Boson Production Associated with a Single Bottom Quark in Supersymmetric QCD
Due to the enhancement of the couplings between Higgs boson and bottom quarks
in the minimal sypersymmetric standard model (MSSM), the cross section of the
process pp(p\bar{p}) \to h^0b(h^0\bar{b})+X at hadron colliders can be
considerably enhanced. We investigated the production of Higgs boson associated
with a single high-p_T bottom quark via subprocess bg(\bar{b}g) \to
h^0b(h^0\bar{b}) at hadron colliders including the next-to-leading order (NLO)
QCD corrections in MSSM. We find that the NLO QCD correction in the MSSM
reaches 50%-70% at the LHC and 60%-85% at the Fermilab Tevatron in our chosen
parameter space.Comment: accepted by Phys. Rev.
Sneutrino-induced like sign dilepton signal with conserved R-parity
Lepton number violation could be manifest in the sneutrino sector of
supersymmetric extensions of the standard model with conserved R-parity. Then
sneutrinos decay partly into the ``wrong sign charged lepton'' final state, if
kinematically accessible. In sneutrino pair production or associated single
sneutrino production, the signal then is a like sign dilepton final state.
Under favourable circumstances, such a signal could be visible at the LHC or a
next generation linear collider for a relative sneutrino mass-splitting of
order and sneutrino width of order (1 GeV). On the
other hand, the like sign dilepton event rate at the TEVATRON is probably too
small to be observable.Comment: 19 pages, 14 Figures. Section about LSD at LHC and TEVATRON added.

Pseudoscalar Higgs boson production associated with a single bottom quark at hadron colliders
We compute the complete next-to-leading order (NLO) SUSY-QCD corrections for
the associated production of a pseudoscalar Higgs boson with a bottom quark via
bottom-gluon fusion at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Fermilab
Tevatron. We find that the NLO QCD correction in the MSSM reaches
at the LHC and at the Tevatron in our chosen parameter space
The Weak Charge of the Proton and New Physics
We address the physics implications of a precision determination of the weak
charge of the proton, QWP, from a parity violating elastic electron proton
scattering experiment to be performed at the Jefferson Laboratory. We present
the Standard Model (SM) expression for QWP including one-loop radiative
corrections, and discuss in detail the theoretical uncertainties and missing
higher order QCD corrections. Owing to a fortuitous cancellation, the value of
QWP is suppressed in the SM, making it a unique place to look for physics
beyond the SM. Examples include extra neutral gauge bosons, supersymmetry, and
leptoquarks. We argue that a QWP measurement will provide an important
complement to both high energy collider experiments and other low energy
electroweak measurements. The anticipated experimental precision requires the
knowledge of the order alpha_s corrections to the pure electroweak box
contributions. We compute these contributions for QWP, as well as for the weak
charges of heavy elements as determined from atomic parity violation.Comment: 22 pages of LaTeX, 5 figure
DETERMINATION OF THE ELECTROWEAK CHIRAL-LAGRANGIAN PARAMETERS AT THE LHC
In this work we report on the results obtained in a detailed and systematical
study of the possibility to measure the parameters appearing in the electroweak
chiral lagrangian. The main novelty of our approach is that we do not use the
Equivalence Theorem and therefore we work explicitly with all the gauge boson
degrees of freedom.Comment: 59 pages, latex, figures available on reques
Observation of Orbitally Excited B_s Mesons
We report the first observation of two narrow resonances consistent with
states of orbitally excited (L=1) B_s mesons using 1 fb^{-1} of ppbar
collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector at the
Fermilab Tevatron. We use two-body decays into K^- and B^+ mesons reconstructed
as B^+ \to J/\psi K^+, J/\psi \to \mu^+ \mu^- or B^+ \to \bar{D}^0 \pi^+,
\bar{D}^0 \to K^+ \pi^-. We deduce the masses of the two states to be m(B_{s1})
= 5829.4 +- 0.7 MeV/c^2 and m(B_{s2}^*) = 5839.7 +- 0.7 MeV/c^2.Comment: Version accepted and published by Phys. Rev. Let
Measurement of in Collisions at TeV
We present the first observation of the baryon decay
followed by in 106 pb-1
of collisions at TeV in the CDF experiment. In
order to reduce systematic error, the measured rate for decay is
normalized to the kinematically similar meson decay followed
by . We report the ratio of production cross sections
() times the ratio of branching fractions (BR) for the momentum region
integrated above GeV/c and pseudorapidity range :
