Local polynomial regression estimation with correlated errors

    Get PDF
In this paper, we study the nonparametric estimation of the regression function and its derivatives using weighted local polynomial fitting. Consider the fixed regression model and suppose that the random observation error is coming from a strictly stationary stochastic process. Expressions for the bias and the variance array of the estimators of the regression function and its derivatives are obtained and joint asymptotic normality is established. The influence of the dependence of the data is observed in the expression of the variance. We also propose a variable bandwidth selection procedure. A simulation study and an analysis with real economic data illustrate the proposed selection method.

This thesis, which we have entitled: "Legal Foundations to justify objectively and reasonably differentiated remunerative treatment" aims to analyze what are the legal foundations that should take into account the operators of the right to justify objective and reasonably differentiated remuneration, in order to identify those factors of wage differentiation that violate the constitutional right to equality. For this purpose, a review of the specialized doctrine that allows us to identify the salary differentiation criteria that are valid constitutionally is made, and then the casuistry relapsed in the judgments of Peruvian courts is examined. The work concludes that there is no regulation that establishes clear and objective guidelines for the elaboration of salary scales in public employment, since the legislation is limited to regulating the minimum floor and the maximum remuneration ceiling that a public servant can perceive, causes that the scales vary substantially from one Entity to another, and even within the same organization, which transgresses the right to remunerative equality. Likewise, it is supported that the right to remunerative equality is violated when the state organization approves a remunerative scale that establishes higher wages only for a labor regime, even when two or more labor regimes coexist within it.Tesi

Biomimicry in climate adaptive building skins: relevance of applying principles and strategies

There is growing interest in scientific literature and in research projects on climate adaptive building skins -CABS-. A large development of this type of building skins is expected, because of the advantages they offer over other skins, such as th e improvement of environmental quality and energy efficiency, the adaptability to c limate and changing uses of buildi ngs, the ability to use low exergy sources, the potential for integrating architectural design principles with energy efficiency, the possibility of driving the research on new technologies a nd a greater efficiency in the use of materials. However, this development is not taking place in practice, since most projects either remain on experimental prototypes or are im plemented in high budget buildings. This paper examines the relevance of applying a bi omimetic approach to the design of CABS, given the adaptive behaviour of both systems. By studying the correlation between the functi onal requirements of adaptive building skins and adaptive strategies that can be found in natural organisms, we address the possible overcoming of some limits they face in their development – from design, technological, economic and social-. The aim is to further the implementation of biomim etic principles and adaptive strategies to enhance adaptive behaviour, take advantage of the evoluti onary knowledge that nature provides, derive applying principles to achieve best architectural solutions, serve as a driver of innovation in architecture and promote efficiency and sustainabilit y in building skins, using principles such as optimality in resource management, resilience behaviour , exchange of information and energy with the environment, complexity by organization of simple elements, or multifunctionality. Finally, biomimicry has shown to be a suitable approach, which, by putting systematic design processes into practice, yet to achieve, could promot e the widespread developm ent of climate adaptive building skins

On the uniform strong consistency of local polynomial regression under dependence conditions

This is a preprint of an article submitted for consideration in the Communications in Statistics, Theory and Methods © 2003 copyright Taylor & Francis ; Communications in Statistics, Theory and Methods is available online at: http://www.informaworld.com/[Abstract] In this paper, nonparametric estimators of the regression function, and its derivatives, obtained by means of weighted local polynomial fitting are studied. Consider the fixed regression model where the error random variables are coming from a stationary stochastic process satisfying a mixing condition. Uniform strong consistency, along with rates, are established for these estimators. Furthermore, when the errors follow an AR(1) correlation structure, strong consistency properties are also derived for a modiÞed version of the local polynomial estimators proposed by Vilar-Fernández and Francisco-Fernández in (1).Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología; PGIDT01PXI10505PRMinisterio de Ciencia y Tecnología; PB98-0182-C02-01Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología; BFM2002-0026

146 p.Laboratorio Dra.
