This paper deals with a multi- objective formulation of the Cell Switch-Off (CSO) problem, a well-known and effective approach to save energy in such dense scenarios, which is addressed with an accurate, yet rather unknown multi-objective metaheuristic called MOCell (multi- objective cellular genetic algorithm). It has been evaluated over a different set of networks of increasing densification levels. The results have shown that MOCell is able to reach major energy savings when compared to a widely used multi-objective algorithm.TIN2016-75097-P Universidad de Málaga. Model-based run-to-run optimization for process development

    Get PDF
Research and development of new processes is a fundamental part of any innovative industry. For process engineers, finding optimal operating conditions for new processes from the early stages is a main issue, since it improves economic viability, helps others areas of R&D by avoiding product bottlenecks and shortens the time-to-market period. Model-based optimization strategies are helpful in doing so, but imperfect models with parametric or structural errors can lead to suboptimal operating conditions. In this work, a methodology that uses probabilistic tendency models that are constantly updated through experimental feedback is proposed in order to rapidly and efficiently find improved operating conditions. Characterization of the uncertainty is used to make safe predictions even with scarce data, which is typical in this early stage of process development. The methodology is tested with an example from the traditional innovative pharmaceutical industry.Fil: Luna, Martín Francisco. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Bayesian optimization of crystallization processes to guarantee end-use product properties

    Get PDF
For pharmaceutical solid products, the issue of reproducibly obtaining their desired end-use properties depending on crystal size and form is the main problem to be addressed and solved in process development. Lacking a reliable first-principles model of a crystallization process, a Bayesian optimization algorithm is proposed. On this basis, a short sequence of experimental runs for pinpointing operating conditions that maximize the probability of successfully complying with end-use product properties is defined. Bayesian optimization can take advantage of the full information provided by the sequence of experiments made using a probabilistic model of the probability of success based on a one-class classification method. The proposed algorithm's performance is tested in silico using the crystallization and formulation of an API product where success is about fulfilling a dissolution profile as required by the FDA. Results obtained demonstrate that the sequence of generated experiments allows pinpointing operating conditions for reproducible quality.Fil: Luna, Martín Francisco. Get PDF
This paper wants to determine the new juridical context that arises from the information society, with new sources of rights, and show the possible dysfunctionalities of the current juridical system. As specific case of the lack of adaptation of the juridical system, we introduce the self-regulation that has been carried out in the electronic commerce to give juridical guarantee to transactions not contemplated on the current juridical system, showing some of the most relevant experiences, both nationally and internationally

The statement of the Information Systems as a independent scientific field of other areas one comes sustaining in the great quantity of academic works and of investigation that it has more than enough this topic one comes carrying out. This doctrinal corpus suffers nevertheless of a bigger methodological baggage and of studies on the application of certain methodologies to the investigation in Information Systems. Under these premises we have carried out an analysis of the existent doctrine on the methodological investigation in Information Systems, centering us in one of the methodologies that come using in a more habitual way in our investigation works, the method delphi, to which we consider like one of the most useful and ef ective techniques of obtaining of information in our scientific field. In spite of their importance, the method delfhi has still been little studied in our country from the perspective epistemológica in the environment of the Information Systems, for what we consider necessary the realization of an analysis of this methodology and of the investigations that have been carried out on its application to be able to understand the aspects that we should develop of the same one better and to know when its use is adapted
