    Results of time evolution analyses of B-decays at Belle

    We report results of proper-time evolution analyses of B decays at Belle, based on a 29.1/fb data sample recorded at the Upsilon (4S) resonance. These results include measurements of sin2phi_1, the lifetime of B-mesons, and the mass-difference between two mass eigenstates of the B^0-B^0-bar system (Delta-m_d). Delta-m_d is measured using three different methods: fully reconstructed hadronic modes, a fully reconstructed semi-leptonic mode, and a partially reconstructed D*+ pi- mode.Comment: 13 pages, contributed to the proceedings of the Fifth KEK Topical Conference, 20-22, Nov. 2001, Tsukuba, Japa

    Surgery groups of the fundamental groups of hyperplane arrangement complements

    Using a recent result of Bartels and Lueck (arXiv:0901.0442) we deduce that the Farrell-Jones Fibered Isomorphism conjecture in L-theory is true for any group which contains a finite index strongly poly-free normal subgroup, in particular, for the Artin full braid groups. As a consequence we explicitly compute the surgery groups of the Artin pure braid groups. This is obtained as a corollary to a computation of the surgery groups of a more general class of groups, namely for the fundamental group of the complement of any fiber-type hyperplane arrangement in the complex n-space.Comment: 11 pages, AMSLATEX file, revised following referee's comments and suggestions, to appear in Archiv der Mathemati

    Updated Corpora and Benchmarks for Long-Form Speech Recognition

    The vast majority of ASR research uses corpora in which both the training and test data have been pre-segmented into utterances. In most real-word ASR use-cases, however, test audio is not segmented, leading to a mismatch between inference-time conditions and models trained on segmented utterances. In this paper, we re-release three standard ASR corpora - TED-LIUM 3, Gigapeech, and VoxPopuli-en - with updated transcription and alignments to enable their use for long-form ASR research. We use these reconstituted corpora to study the train-test mismatch problem for transducers and attention-based encoder-decoders (AEDs), confirming that AEDs are more susceptible to this issue. Finally, we benchmark a simple long-form training for these models, showing its efficacy for model robustness under this domain shift.Comment: Submitted to ICASSP 202

    The possibility of absolute calibration of analog detectors by using parametric down-conversion: a systematical study

    Accurate calibration of photodetectors both in analog and in photon-counting regime is fundamental for various scientific applications, which range from "traditional" quantum optics to the studies on foundations of quantum mechanics, quantum cryptography, quantum computation, etc. In this paper we systematically study the possibility of the absolute calibration of analog photo-detectors based on the properties of parametric amplifiers. Our results show that such a method can be effectively developed with interesting possible metrological applications

    Helicobacter cinaedi Induced Typhlocolitis in Rag-2-Deficient Mice

    Background Helicobacter cinaedi, an enterohepatic helicobacter species (EHS), is an important human pathogen and is associated with a wide range of diseases, especially in immunocompromised patients. It has been convincingly demonstrated that innate immune response to certain pathogenic enteric bacteria is sufficient to initiate colitis and colon carcinogenesis in recombinase-activating gene (Rag)-2-deficient mice model. To better understand the mechanisms of human IBD and its association with development of colon cancer, we investigated whether H. cinaedi could induce pathological changes noted with murine enterohepatic helicobacter infections in the Rag2[superscript −/−] mouse model. Materials and Methods Sixty 129SvEv Rag2[superscript −/−] mice mouse were experimentally or sham infected orally with H. cinaedi strain CCUG 18818. Gastrointestinal pathology and immune responses in infected and control mice were analyzed at 3, 6 and 9 months postinfection (MPI). H. cinaedi colonized the cecum, colon, and stomach in infected mice. Results H. cinaedi induced typhlocolitis in Rag2[superscript −/−] mice by 3 MPI and intestinal lesions became more severe by 9 MPI. H. cinaedi was also associated with the elevation of proinflammatory cytokines, interferon-γ, tumor-necrosis factor-α, IL-1β, IL-10; iNOS mRNA levels were also upregulated in the cecum of infected mice. However, changes in IL-4, IL-6, Cox-2, and c-myc mRNA expressions were not detected. Conclusions Our results indicated that the Rag2[superscript −/−] mouse model will be useful to continue investigating the pathogenicity of H. cinaedi, and to study the association of host immune responses in IBD caused by EHS.United States.
