Uma proporção mágica que define o que é agradável: A proporção áurea ou golden proportion. (Paul M. M. C. & Abraham S. T., 2013) Desde os primeiros matemáticos como Fibonacci, passando por antigos artistas e pintores como Pablo Picasso e inventores como Leonardo Da Vinci até à Medicina do presente, a proporção áurea tem levantado dúvidas quanto à sua origem e aplicação. Tornou-se símbolo da estética e da beleza natural acabando por ser alvo das mais variadas aplicações e decomposições matemáticas. Na Medicina Dentária a componente estética é cada vez mais uma área de relevância. O sorriso tem um papel muito importante no comportamento humano e na comunicação. Estudos revelam que a nível pessoal o sorriso tem um grande impacto na vida de um indivíduo, tanto na sua autoestima como na sua vida profissional. Numa sociedade que cada vez mais procura a beleza com os mais variados argumentos, a face torna-se prioridade estética número um. Este trabalho tem como objetivo identificar, caracterizar e entender o conceito desta proporção mágica analisando como esta proporção pode ajudar o Médico Dentista na sua prática clinica diária. Conclusões: A procura pelo sorriso perfeito e pela metodologia clínica ideal para o atingir, faz com que este tema, outrora considerado de origem divina, seja cada vez mais aprofundado e estudado. Todas as utilizações da golden proportion resultam em concordância estética perante o olho humano, naturalmente a Medicina Dentária não é exceção. Sem dúvida que a Golden Proportion é uma ajuda que, aplicada à medicina dentária, pode ser preciosa em determinados casos

O impacto da liderança no bem-estar dos colaboradores – o papel dos líderes e dos gestores na construção de modelos que promovam o bem-estar psicológico no trabalho / The impact of leadership on employee well-being – the role of leaders and managers in the construction of models that promote psychological well-being in the workplace

Se a liderança é o processo de influência de grupo na realização de objectivos (Fleishmanet al, 1991; Bass, 1990) o bem-estar dos colaboradores pode ser encarado como um dos fins a alcançar pelo grupo através da ação do líder (Rost, 1991). O bem-estar é um constructo multidimensional complexo que visa o indivíduo como um todo, concebendo-o nas suas múltiplas dimensões física, social e psicológica (Biswas-Diener, 2008; Lyubomirskyet al, 2005; Diener, 2000). É frequentemente discutido na literatura face a duas grandes perspetivas (hedónica e eudaimónica) e estudado como fator, elemento ou variável que influencia o desempenho dos colaboradores e os resultados organizacionais (Danna e Griffin, 1999; Wright e Cropanzano, 2004; Harteret al, 2003). Estabelecida a relação entre bem-estar e os resultados organizacionais, é necessário compreender como os líderes influenciam o bem-estar dos seus colaboradores. If leadership is the process of group influence on the achievement of objectives (Fleishman et al, 1991; Bass, 1990), employee well-being can be considered as one of the goals to be attained by the group through the action of its leader (Rost, 1991). Well-being is a complex, multidimensional construct, which targets the individual as a whole, considering it in its multiple physical, social and psychological dimensions (Biswas-Diener, 2008; Lyubomirsky et al, 2005; Diener, 2000). It is often discussed in the literature in the light of two major perspectives (hedonic and eudaemonic) and studied as a factor, element or variable that influences staff performance and organisational effectiveness (Danna and Griffin, 1999; Wright and Cropanzano, 2004; Harter et al, 2003). Liderança e bem-estar: o caso da hotelaria de cinco estrelas no Algarve

Esta investigação teve como objetivo compreender e descrever o bem-estar na hotelaria de cinco estrelas através da ação das chefias promotoras de bem-estar. Foi analisado o conceito de liderança, entendido como um processo de influência social mútuo entre líder e liderado, considerado como um fenómeno transversal às organizações humanas, construído no seio do grupo numa dinâmica relacional e num diálogo permanente entre génese e estrutura, ação e investigação. Foi igualmente analisado o conceito de bem-estar entendido como um constructo subjetivo multidisciplinar complexo percecionado pelo indivíduo, segundo critérios padronizados e avaliados somente por este, que integra uma componente cognitiva e uma componente afetiva, constituindo um fenómeno social estudado ao nível do indivíduo e da organização. Foram descritas as teorias da liderança e do bem-estar contemporâneas, apresentadas e desenvolvidas numa perspetiva de evolução histórica e de contributo mútuo para o enriquecimento da relevância social dos indivíduos nas organizações, salientando-se as teorias da liderança cujo quadro teórico nos leva à compreensão do objetivo da investigação, bem como as teorias da motivação e espiritualidade no trabalho. Por forma a diferenciar as perceções que os colaboradores apresentam dos chefes que promovem e dos que não promovem o bem-estar, foi utilizada a teoria dos constructos de George Kelly possibilitando a utilização de um questionário administrado a colaboradores de seis hotéis de cinco estrelas no Algarve. Foram validados para análise estatística 439 questionários e realizadas 33 entrevistas a chefias promotoras e não promotoras de bem-estar, tratadas por análise de conteúdo tendo em conta a obtenção da objetividade necessária para a interpretação do discurso das chefias retendo as principais diferenças entre os dois grupos. Os resultados mostraram que a liderança promotora de bem-estar se constrói em torno de duas dimensões – competências relacionais e competências da tarefa. As entrevistas às chefias comprovaram estes resultados na medida em que ficou demonstrado que as chefias promotoras de bem-estar e não promotoras de bem-estar apresentam diferenças significativas quanto à forma como constroem e desempenham o seu papel. Este trabalho contribuiu para a compreensão da liderança e do bem-estar na hotelaria de cinco estrelas, mostrando que a liderança promotora de bem-estar é um processo interpessoal, de transparência relacional e influência organizacional, orientado para o desempenho organizacional focalizado no autodesenvolvimento dos colaboradores

coronary angiography as a diagnostic method for all? - a retrospective study

INTRODUCTION: Type 1 diabetes mellitus is associated with an increased risk of coronary artery disease, which is frequently asymptomatic. This risk increases significantly in those with nephropathy. In selected patients, simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation is the renal and pancreatic replacement therapy of choice, as it increases longevity and stabilizes diabetic complications. Despite essential, universal screening protocols are still controversial for coronary artery disease in this population. METHODS: We retrospectively analysed 99 simultaneous pancreas-kidney recipients from our centre from 2011 to 2018 and selected 77 patients who underwent coronary angiography during the pre-transplant evaluation. Our aim was to identify potential risk factors associated with significant lesions on coronary angiography. RESULTS: Almost half of our cohort of 77 candidates submitted to coronary angiography had coronary artery disease. Of these, nearly 30% underwent revascularization, although only one of them reported symptoms of myocardial ischemia. In a univariate analysis, the presence of smoking habits was the only risk factor for coronary artery disease. We also found that 20 or more years of type 1 diabetes mellitus was significantly associated with the presence of coronaropathy. DISCUSSION: Selection of diabetic candidates with acceptable cardiac risk before simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation is imperative. Given the impact of a correct diagnosis and a low procedural risk, we defend the routine use of coronary angiography as the initial screening method for coronary artery disease in this population. PROTÓTIPO DE REALIDADE AUMENTA EM DISPOSITIVOS MÓVEIS NA ABORDAGEM DE SÓLIDOS GEOMÉTRICOS

When considering the insertion of Information and Communication Technologies in the context of mathematics education, it is possible to promote a greater interaction of the subject with the contents addressed. New technological tools emerge in a continuous and ascending frequency, to insert them in the educational context and to optimize its resources is the role of the school and its educators. The present research presents the results of a study that investigates the development and use of Augmented Reality in mobile applications in Basic Education Mathematics classes. For so much has developed an application in the platform Android that allows the approach of the subject solid regular, also known as solids of Plato. The data collection was done through a questionnaire used with a group of teachers of Mathematics revealing that few teachers have had contact with this type of application, and also indicates that allying mobile devices to the resources of augmented reality denotes to be quite relevant to approach the geometric solids.Ao considerar a inserção de Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação no contexto da educação matemática pode-se promover uma maior interação do sujeito com os conteúdos abordados. Novas ferramentas tecnológicas surgem numa frequência contínua e ascendente, inseri-las no contexto educativo e aproveitar de forma otimizada seus recursos é papel da escola e seus atores. A presente pesquisa apresenta os resultados de um estudo que investiga o desenvolvimento e a utilização da Realidade Aumentada em aplicativos para dispositivos móveis nas aulas de Matemática da Educação Básica. Para tanto desenvolveu-se um aplicativo na plataforma Android que permite a abordagem do tema sólidos regulares, também conhecido como sólidos de Platão. O levantamento de dados deu-se por meio de um questionário empregado junto a um grupo de professores de Matemática revelando que poucos professores já tiveram contato com este tipo de aplicativo, e indica também que aliar dispositivos móveis aos recursos de realidade aumentada denota ser bastante relevante para abordagem dos sólidos geométricos

Bifurcation Analysis of a Van der Pol-Duffing Circuit with Parallel Resistor

We study the local codimension one, two, and three bifurcations which occur in a recently proposed Van der Pol-Duffing circuit (ADVP) with parallel resistor, which is an extension of the classical Chua's circuit with cubic nonlinearity. The ADVP system presents a very rich dynamical behavior, ranging from stable equilibrium points to periodic and even chaotic oscillations. Aiming to contribute to the understand of the complex dynamics of this new system we present an analytical study of its local bifurcations and give the corresponding bifurcation diagrams. A complete description of the regions in the parameter space for which multiple small periodic solutions arise through the Hopf bifurcations at the equilibria is given. Then, by studying the continuation of such periodic orbits, we numerically find a sequence of period doubling and symmetric homoclinic bifurcations which leads to the creation of strange attractors, for a given set of the parameter values

Comparative study between different methods of agglutination in multiple response optimization

This work aims to evaluate the performance of the agglutination functions Desirability, Modified Desirability and Commitment Programming , applied in the optimization of problems with multiple response. The performance of the agglutinating functions was measured through the Average Percentage of Deviation. In order to apply the proposed method, three problems containing multiple responses were selected in the literature. The results obtained for the selected case studies indicate a better performance of the modified Desirability agglutination function for the simultaneous optimization of multiple responses, especially when these responses are modeled by equations containing quadratic terms, regardless of the number of terms, type of responses and Number of variables they may contain. The methodology and results presented in this study aim to collaborate with the research, development and evaluation of advanced techniques for the optimization of problems with multiple responses that are relevant in the search for specifications to increase efficiency in industrial processes

A política esportiva brasileira nos governos do Partido dos Trabalhadores – PT (2003-2016)

This article presents and analyzes the main foundations of the sports policy adopted by the governments of the Partido dos Trabalhadores - PT (left party) between 2003 and 2016. Thus, through a critical review of the literature and, in a complementary way, of documentary research, this paper develops a historical [and retrospective] analysis of the main characteristics of the Brazilian sports sector, also analyzes the actions of these governments in the conduct of sports policies up to 2016, considering the creation of the Ministry of Sports, the holding of the National Sports Conferences and the insertion of the country in the route of mega sports events. The considerations indicate that during this period there were important changes in the conduct of sports policy, especially since the III National Sports Conference, which nevertheless adopted  mega sports events as the organizing principle of the governmental agenda - a fact that expresses, to some extent, the transformations in the Partido dos Trabalhadores itself.O artigo apresenta e analisa os principais fundamentos da política esportiva adotada pelos governos do Partido dos Trabalhadores – PT, entre os anos de 2003 a 2016 Para tanto, por meio de uma revisão crítica da literatura e, de maneira complementar, de pesquisa documental, o trabalho desenvolve uma análise [e retrospectiva] histórica das principais características do setor esportivo brasileiro, bem como analisa as ações desses governos na condução das políticas afetas ao esporte até o ano de 2016, considerando, para isso, a criação do Ministério do Esporte, a realização das Conferências Nacionais de Esporte e a inserção do país na rota dos megaeventos esportivos. As considerações indicam que ocorreram, nesse período, mudanças importantes na condução da política esportiva, sobretudo a partir da III Conferência Nacional de Esporte que, não obstante, adotou os megaeventos esportivos como o princípio organizador da agenda governamental – fato que expressa, em certa medida, as transformações orquestradas no próprio Partido dos Trabalhadores

Efficiency in the use of phosphorus by common bean genotypes

Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is frequently grown in weathered soils with low phosphorus (P) availability, and this is one of the main limitations on its production. This study aimed to assess 20 common bean genotypes in a hydroponic system to select the best P concentration for inducing nutritional deficiency and to classify the genotypes in terms of nutrient utilization efficiency. The concentrations of P applied were 8.00, 4.00, 2.00 and 0.05 mg L¹. At 21 days, in the plot subjected to an application of the most severe stress, the 0.05 mg L¹ dose of P, had smaller plant size and early leaf abscission was observed. The 4.00 mg L¹ dose of P was the most efficient in inducing stress for discrimination of cultivars in terms of efficiency of use of P. The following genotypes: IAPAR 81, Carioca Comum, IAC Carioca Tybatã, IAC Imperador and G 2333 stood out as being efficient and responsive to P, while the two cultivars DOR 364 and Jalo Precoce were the most inefficient and unresponsive
