    La adquisición de competencias en la materia de atletismo a través de metodologías activas: el aprendizaje por protectos

    El presente proyecto constituye una estrategia de enseñanza que pretende elaborar un modelo de instrucción auténtico en el que los estudiantes planean, implementan y evalúan proyectos que tienen aplicación en el mundo real deportivo, del atletismo, más allá del aula de clase (Blank, 1997; Dickinson, et al, 1998; Harwell, 1997). Para ello, se recomiendan actividades de enseñanza interdisciplinarias, de largo plazo y centradas en el estudiante, en lugar de lecciones cortas y aisladas, tales como estudios de diferentes disciplinas y niveles de entrenamiento deportivo del mundo del atletismo, pero, siempre sobre el terreno, desarrollando proyectos con atletas de diferentes categorías, y donde los alumnos y alumnas han encontrado su referente de estudio y su centro de interés.This project is a teaching strategy that aims to develop an authentic instructional model in which students plan, implement and evaluate projects that have application in the real world sports, athletics, beyond the classroom (Blank, 1997; Dickinson, et al, 1998; Harwell, 1997). To this end, we recommend interdisciplinary teaching activities, long-term and student-centered, rather than short, isolated lessons, such as studies of various disciplines and levels of athletic training from the world of athletics, but always on the ground, developing projects with athletes from different categories, and where the students have found their benchmark study and its focus

    An Analysis of Octave Ségur’s Translation of Maria Edgeworth’s Belinda (1801) into French

    The Anglo-Irish author Maria Edgeworth (1768-1849) became very famous in Britain at the turn of the nineteenth century thanks to her pedagogical works, regionalist and feminocentric novels, whose translations were eagerly awaited on the Continent. This paper analyses a hitherto totally unexplored field of research within Edgeworth studies: the French translation of Edgeworth’s most important English society novel, Belinda (1801), from the point of view of gender and translation studies. For this purpose, we will take into account the particular context of the work, its main features in English and French, and the particular procedures adopted by the French translator to transform Edgeworth’s tale into moral fiction for women. Octave-Henri Gabriel, comte de Ségur, adapts Belinda to the taste of French readers by sacrificing both the macrostructural and microstructural features of the source text. Despite the success of the book in France, Bélinde (1802) is not comparable to the author’s original idea, as the textual history of Belinda reveals. Edgeworth’s book deals with controversial issues at that time and features her most memorable female character, which is distorted in the French text. Ultimately, this paper confirms that the publication of Ségur’s translation has consequences on the transmission of Edgeworth’s oeuvre in other European literatures and on her image as a feminist writer

    Frances Burney and Sarah Harriet Burney: a Comparison between "The Wanderer" (1814) and "The Renunciation" (1839)

    The British novelist Sarah Harriet Burney. (1772-1844) achieved great popularity at the beginning of the nineteenth century, although she was always overshadowed by her half-sister, the celebrated Frances Burney (1752-1840). This paper aims to throw some new light on both novelists and revises how each Burney sister dealt with three key issues in Bumey Studies (female identity, the young artist's position in society and cultural alterity or "Otherness") in their works The Wanderer (1814) and The Renunciation (1839). It will also provide the opportunity to introduce to current readers an outstanding novelist who has much in common with later British women writers, such as George Eliot. Thanks to her experiences and her narrative craft, Sarah Harriet incorporated new elements to the domestic novel or the novel of education, and she registered the important changes affecting early Victorian society.La novelista británica Sarah Harriet Burney (1772-1844) alcanzó una gran popularidad a principios del siglo diecinueve, aunque siempre estuvo a la sombra de su hermana, la aclamada Frances Burney (1752-1840). Este trabajo intenta arrojar nueva luz sobre ambas novelistas y reexamina el tratamiento de tres temas clave en los llamados Burney Studies (la identidad femenina, la posición social de la joven artista y la alteridad cultural) en sus novelas The Wanderer (1814) y The Renunciation (1839). También ofrece la oportunidad de presentar a los lectores actuales a una novelista destacada que tiene mucho en común con escritoras británicas posteriores como George Eliot. Gracias a sus experiencias y genio narrativo, la hermana menor incorporó nuevos elementos a la novela doméstica o novela de educación y plasmó los importantes cambios sociales de principios de la época victoriana

    Maria Edgeworth and children's literature: the translation of "The parent's assistant" (1796) into Spanish

    Maria Edgeworth (1768-1849) became one of the most popular and prolific women writers in nineteenth-century Great Britain. After the publication of her ground-breaking Castle Rackrent (1800), Edgeworth’s oeuvre was soon admired and translated all around Europe. Nevertheless, many aspects of her works remain unexplored, and within the field of the so-called Edgeworth Studies, the continental reception of the Anglo-Irish authoress is not a favourite topic. Similarly, Edgeworth’s productions for children have been also been traditionally neglected. This article is part of a larger project and analyzes the nineteenth-century versions into Spanish of three stories from the collection The Parent’s Assistant or Stories for Children (1796): “Lazy Lawrence”, “The False Key” and “Forgive and Forget”. We will focus on the most remarkable features of the translations taking into account the source text and adopting translemic studies and Itamar Even-Zohar’s theory of literary polysystems as the theoretical framework for our analysis. The contributions of other scholars will be taken into account as well.Maria Edgeworth (1768-1849) se convirtió en una de las escritoras más populares y prolíficas en Gran Bretaña durante el siglo diecinueve. Iras la publicación del innovador relato Castle Rackrent (1800), la obra de Edgeworth fue pronto admirada y traducida por toda Europa. Sin embargo, muchos aspectos de su obra permanecen sin explorar y dentro de los llamados Edgeworth Studies, la recepción continental de la autora angloirlandesa no es uno de los temas más tratados. Igualmente, la obra infantil de Edgeworth se ha desatendido. Este artículo forma parte de un proyecto más amplio y analiza las versiones decimonónicas de tres historias de la colección The Parent’s Assistant or Stories for Children (1796): “Lazy Lawrence”, “The False Key” y “Forgive and Forget”. Nos centraremos en los rasgos más importantes de las traducciones teniendo en cuenta el texto original. Se adoptarán los estudios translémicos y la teoría de los polisistemas literarios de Itamar Even-Zohar como marco para nuestro análisis, así como las contribuciones de otros estudiosos de la traducción

    Energy efficiency and integration of urban electrical transport systems: EVS and metro-trains of two real European lines

    Transport is a main source of pollutants in cities, where air quality is a major concern. New transport technologies, such as electric vehicles, and public transport modalities, such as urban railways, have arisen as solutions to this important problem. One of the main difficulties for the adoption of electric vehicles by consumers is the scarcity of a suitable charging infrastructure. The use of the railway power supplies to charge electric vehicle batteries could facilitate the deployment of charging infrastructure in cities. It would reduce the cost because of the use of an existing installation. Furthermore, electric vehicles can use braking energy from trains that was previously wasted in rheostats. This paper presents the results of a collaboration between research teams from University of Rome Sapienza and Comillas Pontifical University. In this work, two real European cases are studied: an Italian metro line and a Spanish metro line. The energy performance of these metro lines and their capacity to charge electric vehicles have been studied by means of detailed simulation tools. Their results have shown that the use of regenerated energy is 98% for short interval of trains in both cases. However, the use of regenerated energy decreases as the train intervals grow. In a daily operation, an important amount of regenerated energy is wasted in the Italian and Spanish case. Using this energy, a significant number of electric vehicles could be charged every day
