The main objective of this work is to work on the personal and social responsibility through the ‘Social and Personal Responsibility Program’ (here in after PRSP) of Don Hellison. The PRSP is a program for working with childhood and adolescence, so that this TFG shows an intervention within Young Ethnic Minority People Soccer School. This intervention of PRSP is a socio-educational program that works with preteens. The program was carried out in Palencia, in ‘Juan Mena Primary School’, located in an area where most of the population belongs to the gypsy ethnic. To develop this program, it was divided into two different stages of intervention, the first one during October and November 2015, and the second one between December and March 2016. They were both developed during the extracurricular activities hours. The first intervention started with the explanation of the model wanted to be adhered to their way of educating through football to the people in charge of this activity. After that, they were told the functions they will need to acquire and las, the functions that will have the social educator, in this case me. This process was also explained to the participants of the activity, how the activities were going to change and which skills they were going to develop in each PRSP level. This activity was developed by Fundación Secretariado Gitano (FSG) together with the primary school already mentioned. With this activity it is intended that, through the football school could rise a motivation between participants in order to reach favorable results in the different subjects of the school curriculum. The school and the foundation want to educate responsible people both in a personal and a social way. Also the context in which this activity is placed makes it a characteristic location to implant this ‘Social and Personal Responsibility Program’ created by Don Hellison. With the implementation of this program it is intended that participants develop a responsibility, both personal and social, in order to achieve a positive development and it also could help them to improve their educational, social and cultural context and situation that surrounds them.Grado en Educación Socia

Treballs Finals de Grau de Física, Facultat de Física, Universitat de Barcelona, Curs: 2023, Tutors: David Roma Dollasse, Miquel Nofrarias SerraThermal fluctuations have a key role in the performance of LISA space mission, which aims to detect gravitational waves. Equipment based on White Light Interferometry (WLI) is a promising technology to measure microkelvin thermal fluctuations at very low frequencies. The aim of this project, carried out by IEEC researchers, is to achieve measuring temperature fluctuations as low as 1 μK/√Hz in the 1 Hz down to 0.1 mHz range. The interference output signal obtained by the photodiode utilized in IEEC installations is described using a physical model, where the measured intensity is deduced from the interaction of electromagnetic waves within the equipment. Expressions for the outputs of the sensing and reference interferometers are provided, allowing for the absolute temperature measurement through the utilization of the cross-correlation function between the reference and sensing signals. It is shown that the adjustment of the coherence length of the incident white light facilitates the measurement process by reducing sensitivity to nois

Cryptocurrency Constellations across the Three-Dimensional Space: Governance Decentralization, Security, and Scalability

    Get PDF
In the post-Bitcoin era, many cryptocurrencies with a variety of goals and purposes have emerged in the digital arena. This article aims to map cryptocurrency protocols across three main defining dimensions, which are governance decentralization, security, and scalability. We theorize about the organizational and technological features that impact these three dimensions. Such features encompass roles permissiveness, validation network size, resource expenditure, and number of transactions per second. We map the different cryptocurrency constellations based on their consensus mechanisms, discussing the organizational and technological features of the various protocols applications and how they experience and play with the tradeoffs among governance decentralization, security, and scalability

The DDG^G-classifier in the functional setting

    Get PDF
The Maximum Depth was the first attempt to use data depths instead of multivariate raw data to construct a classification rule. Recently, the DD-classifier has solved several serious limitations of the Maximum Depth classifier but some issues still remain. This paper is devoted to extending the DD-classifier in the following ways: first, to surpass the limitation of the DD-classifier when more than two groups are involved. Second to apply regular classification methods (like kkNN, linear or quadratic classifiers, recursive partitioning,...) to DD-plots to obtain useful insights through the diagnostics of these methods. And third, to integrate different sources of information (data depths or multivariate functional data) in a unified way in the classification procedure. Besides, as the DD-classifier trick is especially useful in the functional framework, an enhanced revision of several functional data depths is done in the paper. A simulation study and applications to some classical real datasets are also provided showing the power of the new proposal.Comment: 29 pages, 6 figures, 6 tables, Supplemental R Code and Dat

Epicuticular Wax Load of Near-Isogenic Barley Lines Differing in Glaucousness

Scanning electron microscopy observations of epicuticular waxes on flag leaves (blades and sheaths) and ears were carried out on a pair of near-isogenic lines of two-row barley (Hordeum vulgare L. ), derived from cv. Troubadour, differing in their degree of glaucousness (wax bloom). Plants were grown under irrigated and rainfed mediterranean conditions. Wax bloom in flag leaves consisted mainly of thin wax deposits over the blade, and tubes over the sheath. Wax bloom in the blade was denser and more uniformly arranged on the adaxial than on the abaxial side. In the ears, tubular waxes predominated, forming dense patches on awns and lemmas, and becoming sparse on inner bracts such as the palea. Wax bloom increased under rainfed conditions in both lines. There were marked differences between the lines in the extent of deposition of crystallized epicuticular waxes in the leaf sheath and the ear, whereas differences in the leaf blade were less evident. Wax bloom was almost absent on the sheaths and ear of the non-glaucous line. These results suggest separate genetic control of epicuticular wax deposition on different parts of barley plants. The role of wax bloom in two related ecophysiological parameters, canopy reflectance and cuticular conductance to water diffusion, was also studied. Reflectance by the canopy in the 400 to 700 nm wavelengths was over 50% higher in the glaucous than in the non-glaucous line under rainfed conditions. Under irrigated conditions, flag leaf blades of the non-glaucous line showed the highest epidermal conductance. Ears showed no clear differences in epidermal conductance between lines or growth conditions

Internal devaluation in a wage-led economy. The case of Spain

The aim of this paper is to use the theoretical distinction between wage-led and profit-led economies to consider the impact of internal devaluation policy on GDP growth for the case of Spain. We assess to what extent wage devaluation in Spain has proven useful vis-à-vis triggering an exportled strategy, boosting aggregate demand and overcoming the crisis. For said purpose, we estimate a Bhaduri-Marglin model drawing on quarterly data from Eurostat, and we expand the traditional model to take into account the effect of private debt on consumption and investment. Our main conclusion is that the Spanish economy can be characterized as a wage-led economy, and that therefore a wage share decrease proves counterproductive to growth. According to our calculations, internal devaluation policy detracted an average of 0.3 percentage points of annual economic growth during the period 2010-2016

Service-learning can encourage the development of psychosocial skills, as well as ethical, civic and cognitive, facilitating university students’ integral growth. Its practice has been associated in literature mainly with positive effects in academic, social and ethic development. However, it has been a scarcely addressed area from a psychosocial perspective. There is empirical evidence that relates formal conducts of help and prosocial behavior with the development of socio-emotional skills, so it would be expected that practice in servicelearning would also have positive effects on this level. The objective of the study is to test the development of psychosocial skills through a Service-Learning Program on students. Given this goal, a pilot study was conducted on students from Deusto University. Two variables were selected: Subjective Well-being and Social Adaptation. The hypothesis is that students that complete the Program will improve levels in these variables over those who don’t complete it. Two groups of students were compared according to having completed the Program or not, through a quasi-experimental study with measurements pre and post-test. Statistically significant positive effects are found, with an effect size between small and moderate, in the variables studied in the group of students that completed the Program. The results prove positive effects of the Program over students’ Subjective Well-Being and Social Adaptation. Several explanatory mechanisms are discussed, as well as the potential of service-learning as a promoter agent for emotional and social skills among university population.O aprendizagem-serviço pode promover o desenvolvimento de competências psicossociais, além das éticas, cívicas e cognitivas, facilitando o desenvolvimento integral dos estudantes no marco da educação superior.
