Pedro Giménez' is a white criolla variety
cropped in Argentina, mainly in Mendoza
and San Juan, being the most planted
white variety destined for wine making in
the country. Its origin remains unknown, as
well as its relationship with Spanish variety
'Pedro Ximénez', mostly grown in Jerez,
Spain. Previous works have probed that most
of Criollas varieties existing in America at
the moment, are the offspring of 'Muscat of
Alexandria' x 'Criolla Chica'. The aim of the
present work was to compare 'Pedro Giménez'
with the Spanish variety 'Pedro Ximénez',
and to establish its degree of relatedness
to 'Muscat of Alexandria' and 'Criolla Chica'.
Therefore we used a set of 18 nuclear SSR loci
and 3 chloroplast SSR loci. 'Pedro Giménez'
shared only 38% of the alleles under analysis
with 'Pedro Ximénez', indicating that they
are indeed two different varieties. In all 18
polymorphic nuclear SSR loci 'Pedro Giménez'
shared 50% of its alleles with 'Muscat of
Alexandria', while the other 50% of the alleles
present in 'Pedro Giménez' were also present
in 'Criolla Chica'. This data, along with those
from the chloroplast SSR analysis, strongly
suggest that 'Pedro Giménez' is the progeny
of 'Muscat of Alexandria' x 'Criolla Chica', being
the latest one the most likely female progenitor.'Pedro Giménez' es una variedad criolla
Chica'. Estos datos, junto con el resultado del
análisis de SSR de cloroplastos, avalan la
hipótesis que, como muchas de las variedades
criollas, 'Pedro Giménez' sería fruto del
cruzamiento entre estos dos progenitores,
siendo 'Criolla Chica' probablemente el
progenitor materno.Fil: Durán, Martín F..

Understanding the impact of line-of-sight in the ergodic spectral efficiency of cellular networks
In this paper we investigate the impact of lineof-sight (LoS) condition in the ergodic spectral efficiency of cellular networks. To achieve this goal, we have considered the kappa-mu shadowed model, which is a general model that provides an excellent fit to a wide set of propagation conditions. To overcome the mathematical complexity of the analysis, we have split the analysis between large and small-scale effects. Building on the proposed framework, we study a number of scenarios that range from heavily-fluctuating LoS to deterministic-LoS. Finally, we shed light on the interplay between fading severity and spectral efficiency by means of the amount of fading.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech

Integral field spectroscopy of type-II QSOs at z=0.3-0.4
We present and analyse integral-field observations of six type-II QSOs with
z=0.3-0.4, selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). Two of our sample
are found to be surrounded by a nebula of warm ionized gas, with the largest
nebula extending across 8" (40 kpc). Some regions of the extended nebulae show
kinematics that are consistent with gravitational motion, while other regions
show relatively perturbed kinematics: velocity shifts and line widths too large
to be readily explained by gravitational motion. We propose that a ~20 kpc x20
kpc outflow is present in one of the galaxies. Possible mechanisms for
triggering the outflow are discussed. In this object, we also find evidence for
ionization both by shocks and the radiation field of the AGN.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, accepted by MNRAS Letter
Financial Soundness Prediction Using a Multi-classification Model: Evidence from Current Financial Crisis in OECD Banks
The paper aims to develop an early warning model that separates previously
rated banks (337 Fitch-rated banks from OECD) into three classes, based on their
financial health and using a one-year window. The early warning system is based
on a classification model which estimates the Fitch ratings using Bankscope bankspecific data, regulatory and macroeconomic data as input variables. The authors
propose a “hybridization technique” that combines the Extreme learning machine
and the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique. Due to the imbalanced nature
of the problem, the authors apply an oversampling technique on the data aiming to
improve the classification results on the minority groups. The methodology proposed
outperforms other existing classification techniques used to predict bank solvency. It
proved essential in improving average accuracy and especially the performance of the
minority groups
CO33 188.
