OPTIBODY: A New Structural Design Focused in Safety

With electric vehicles becoming more and more popular, the classic “general purpose” vehicle concept is changing to a “dedicated vehicle” concept. Light trucks for goods delivery in cities are one of the examples. The European vehicle category L7e fits perfectly in the low power, low weight vehicle requirements for an electric light truck for goods delivery. However, the safety requirements of this vehicle category are very low and their occupants are highly exposed to injuries in the event of a collision. The European Commission co-funded project OPTIBODY (Optimized Structural components and add-ons to improve passive safety in new Electric Light Trucks and Vans) is developing a new structural concept based on a chassis, a cabin a several add-ons. The add-ons will provide improved protection in case of frontal, side and rear impact. Two mains issues also considered in both the chassis and the add-ons design were the crash compatibility and the interaction with the vulnerable road users. The OPTIBODY project has proposed frontal, side, rear and pedestrian impact tests for improving self and partner protection for this vehicle category. The OPTIBODY vehicle has been designed using this test proposal as targets and the frontal crash test simulations showed an improvement in the cabin integrity and self and partner protection. This vehicle design will provide a new modular architecture for L7e vehicles that will improve self and partner protection and reparability in case of collision

Information-Theoretic Attacks in the Smart Grid

Gaussian random attacks that jointly minimize the amount of information obtained by the operator from the grid and the probability of attack detection are presented. The construction of the attack is posed as an optimization problem with a utility function that captures two effects: firstly, minimizing the mutual information between the measurements and the state variables; secondly, minimizing the probability of attack detection via the Kullback-Leibler divergence between the distribution of the measurements with an attack and the distribution of the measurements without an attack. Additionally, a lower bound on the utility function achieved by the attacks constructed with imperfect knowledge of the second order statistics of the state variables is obtained. The performance of the attack construction using the sample covariance matrix of the state variables is numerically evaluated. Autoconcepto y consumo de drogas legales en la adolescencia

El objetivo de esta investigación ha sido analizar la relación entre el autoconcepto y el consumo de drogas legales (tabaco y alcohol) en la adolescencia. La muestra consta de 627 adolescentes entre los 12 y los 18 años (edad media 15.33), siendo 327 mujeres y 300 varones. Los resultados indican que los sujetos fumadores se perciben peor que los no fumadores en las subescalas de autoconcepto académico, autoconcepto familiar, condición física, autoconcepto físico general y autoconcepto general. En cuanto al alcohol, los sujetos que no beben se perciben mejor que los sujetos que beben de vez en cuando en las subescalas autoconcepto académico, autoconcepto familiar y autoconcepto general; sin embargo, los sujetos que beben de vez en cuando se perciben mejor que los no bebedores en el autoconcepto social y el autoconcepto físico

Autoconcepte físic i satisfacció corporal en dones adolescents, segons el tipus d’esport practicat

L’objectiu d’aquesta investigació ha estat analitzar les diferències que puguin existir en l’autoconcepte físic i la satisfacció corporal en funció del tipus d’esport practicat per dones adolescents. La mostra està constituïda per 276 adolescents de 12 a 18 anys i els esports que s’han seleccionat han estat: aeròbic, ballet, futbol, natació, gimnàstica rítmica i bàsquet. D’altra banda, s’ha utilitzat un grup que no practicava cap mena d’esport, per analitzar si la pràctica d’algun tipus d’esport té efectes positius. Els resultats obtinguts confirmen que la pràctica d’alguna activitat esportiva té efectes beneficiosos. El grup que no practica cap tipus d’esport ha obtingut resultats significativament menys positius en algunes de les subescales analitzades. Pel que fa a les diferències segons la mena d’esport que es practica, els resultats afirmen que  hi ha algunes diferències significatives en diverses subescales analitzades, encara que aquestes diferències entre els diversos tipus d’esport no són excessives

Semantic technologies for supporting KDD processes

209 p.Achieving a comfortable thermal situation within buildings with an efficient use of energy remains still an open challenge for most buildings. In this regard, IoT (Internet of Things) and KDD (Knowledge Discovery in Databases) processes may be combined to solve these problems, even though data analysts may feel overwhelmed by heterogeneity and volume of the data to be considered. Data analysts could benefit from an application assistant that supports them throughout the KDD process. This research work aims at supporting data analysts through the different KDD phases towards the achievement of energy efficiency and thermal comfort in tertiary buildings. To do so, the EEPSA (Energy Efficiency Prediction Semantic Assistant) is proposed, which aids data analysts discovering the most relevant variables for the matter at hand, and informs them about relationships among relevant data. This assistant leverages Semantic Technologies such as ontologies, ontology-driven rules and ontology-driven data access. More specifically, the EEPSA ontology is the cornerstone of the assistant. This ontology is developed on top of three ODPs (Ontology Design Patterns) and it is designed so that its customization to address similar problems in different types of buildings can be approached methodically

La digitalización de la palabra escrita

Las reflexiones que inspiran este artículo se enmarcan en los supuestos teóricos que desarrollamos en el Centro de Investigación de la Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia Austral, Unidad Académica Río Gallegos, centro en el cual desempeñamos nuestras tareas. Fundamentamos nuestros aportes desde miradas interdisciplinarias que se conjugan para iluminar el objeto de conocimiento que intentamos develar: los procesos de lectura mediados por instrumentos digitales. A lo largo de nuestra trayectoria como docentes investigadores hemos advertido que los procesos de lectura se hallan atravesados por prácticas culturales de uso mediadas por las tecnologías de la información que evidentemente producen no sólo nuevos hábitos lectores sino que también desarrollan rutinas lectoras que configuran nuevas modalidades de comprensión y de representación de los significados expuestos en los textos. Hallamos una redefinición de los gustos y estilos preferidos por los lectores, así como una reestructuración de los textos escolares en los cuales se evidencia el atravesamiento de los procesos hipertextuales y de digitalización que deben ser contemplados a fin de establecer propuestas didácticas apropiadas.The observations which inspire this article are framed around the basic theoretical assumptions that we develop at the Investigation Centre of the National University of Austral Patagonia, Academic Unit Río Gallegos, centre in which we perform our tasks. We base our contributions on interdisciplinary sights which conjugate to illuminate the object of knowledge that we try to unveil: lecture processes mediated by digital instruments. Throughout our career as educational investigators, we have noticed that reading processes occur to be traversed by cultural practices of use mediated by IT technologies which obviously produce not only new reading habits, but also develop reading routines which set up new comprehension and representation modalities of meanings represented in texts. We find a redefinition of taste and style preferred by the readers, as well as the restructuring of school textbooks in which the traversing of hypertext and digitalization processes which must be considered in order to establish proper didactic proposals is evidenced

Smart meter privacy via the trapdoor channel

A battery charging policy that provides privacy guarantees for smart meter systems with finite capacity battery is proposed. For this policy an upper bound on the information leakage rate is provided. The upper bound applies for general random processes modelling the energy consumption of the user. It is shown that the average energy consumption of the user determines the information leakage rate to the utility provider. The upper bound is shown to be tight by deriving the probability law of a random process achieving the bound

"Control de la ejecución de las sentencias dictadas por la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos" Eficacia y Aplicabilidad

Tesis (Licenciado en Ciencias Jurídicas)INTRODUCCIÓN: No podemos dejar de tener presente, que, el derecho internacional ha cobrado cada vez mayor fuerza dentro de los ordenamientos jurídicos de cada país y en especial dentro de nuestro propio ordenamiento jurídico. "La expansión normativa del Derecho Internacional ha ido aumentando la preocupación por regular el cumplimiento de normas y obligaciones, lo que ha conducido a la adopción de un número creciente de reglas con este objetivo"1 , de tal manera, que esta intromisión del Derecho Internacional en los ordenamientos propios de cada legislación, ha transformado en una necesidad tener un sistema, eficaz, que controle las relaciones entre los estados, y más aún, que exista un ente, externo a la Nación, que vele por el cumplimiento, respeto y conservación de los derechos humanos frente a los nacionales. Los Derechos Humanos tienen un carácter positivo, el cual se refiere a como ellos son incorporados dentro de los cuerpos legales de cada Estado. Dichos ordenamientos, garantizan la validez y la eficacia de los preceptos legales. Pero la cristalización del derecho, sólo es lograda en base a las luchas sociales y los ideales renovadores de la modernidad. La lucha de las clases en contra del Estado controlador, fue la que dio pie a lo que hoy conocemos como Derechos Humanos. La proclamación de los derechos humanos se realizó el 1 O de Diciembre de 1948, tras el término de la segunda guerra mundial. En una sesión de la ONU se aprobó el documento "La Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos"
