    Der Schutz des Bodens insbesondere der Schutz seiner Funktionen ist gesetzlich festgeschrieben. Alle unversiegelten Böden erfĂŒllen Funktionen und sind demnach gemĂ€ĂŸ BBodSchG schĂŒtzenswert. In Pla-nungs- und Bauvorhaben ist dieser Ansatz nicht zielfĂŒhrend, da hier BautĂ€tigkeiten nur allgemein negativ bewertet werden, ohne die BodendiversitĂ€t zu berĂŒcksichtigen. Um eine Grundlage fĂŒr die Planung zu schaffen wurde daher eine Kulisse mit den beson-ders schutzwĂŒrdigen Böden erarbeitet. Da-bei werden die natĂŒrlichen Bodenfunktio-nen und die Funktion als Archiv der Natur- und Kulturgeschichte gemĂ€ĂŸ § 2 Abs. 2 Nr. 1 und 2 BBodSchG als besonders wichtig eingestuft.     Time-resolved impulse response of the magnetoplasmon resonance in a two-dimensional electron gas

    We have used optically excited ultrashort electrical pulses to measure the magnetoplasmon resonance of a two-dimensional electron gas formed in an AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure at frequencies up to 200 gigahertz. This is accomplished by incorporating the sample into a guided wave probe operating in a pumped (^{3}He) system. We are able to detect the resonance by launching a stimulus pulse in the guide, and monitoring the system response in a time resolved pump-probe arrangement. Data obtained from measurements yield resonant frequencies that agree with the magnetoplasmon dispersion relation.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

    High Magnetic Field Microwave Conductivity of 2D Electrons in an Array of Antidots

    We measure the high magnetic field (BB) microwave conductivity, Reσxx\sigma_{xx}, of a high mobility 2D electron system containing an antidot array. Reσxx\sigma_{xx} vs frequency (ff) increases strongly in the regime of the fractional quantum Hall effect series, with Landau filling 1/3<Îœ<2/31/3<\nu<2/3. At microwave ff, Reσxx\sigma_{xx} vs BB exhibits a broad peak centered around Îœ=1/2\nu=1/2. On the peak, the 10 GHz Reσxx\sigma_{xx} can exceed its dc-limit value by a factor of 5. This enhanced microwave conductivity is unobservable for temperature T≳0.5T \gtrsim 0.5 K, and grows more pronounced as TT is decreased. The effect may be due to excitations supported by the antidot edges, but different from the well-known edge magnetoplasmons.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, revtex

    Regularized fitted Q-iteration: application to planning

    We consider planning in a Markovian decision problem, i.e., the problem of finding a good policy given access to a generative model of the environment. We propose to use fitted Q-iteration with penalized (or regularized) least-squares regression as the regression subroutine to address the problem of controlling model-complexity. The algorithm is presented in detail for the case when the function space is a reproducing kernel Hilbert space underlying a user-chosen kernel function. We derive bounds on the quality of the solution and argue that data-dependent penalties can lead to almost optimal performance. A simple example is used to illustrate the benefits of using a penalized procedure

    Safety of selenium-enriched biomass of Yarrowia lipolytica as a novel food pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2015/2283

    Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens (NDA) was asked to deliver an opinion on selenium-enriched biomass of Yarrowia lipolytica as a novel food (NF) pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2015/2283. The NF is the dried and heat-killed selenium-enriched biomass of Y. lipolytica. This yeast species is widespread in nature, can be found in the environment and in foods, and was attributed the qualified presumption of safety (QPS) status for production purposes in 2018, including food and feed products based on biomass of the yeast. The production process, fermentation in the presence of sodium selenite, includes a heat-killing step of the yeast, resulting in the absence of viable Y. lipolytica in the NF. The maximum total selenium content in the NF is 200 mu g Se/g, mainly present as organic selenium compounds. The applicant proposed to use the NF as a food supplement. The target population proposed by the applicant is the general population from 3 years of age onwards, with maximum proposed use levels of 0.2 g/day for children from 3 to 9 years of age and 1 g/day thereafter. The Panel considers that the yeast biomass is not of safety concern at the proposed use levels. The Panel also considers that the selenium provided by the NF is as safe as selenium from other dietary sources. However, the Panel notes that, at the use levels proposed by the applicant, the intake of the NF could, in combination with a background diet high in selenium, lead to total selenium intakes exceeding the UL for selenium in all target population groups, except for children from 7 to 9 years. Furthermore, the Panel considers that newly emerging data warrant a reassessment of the UL for selenium. (C) 2020 European Food Safety Authority.     Summary report on work package 3 "Types of Factors"

    This summary report presents the main results of Work Package 3 "Types of Factors" of the TRACE Project. The work as performed in the tasks 3.1 (accident related factors), 3.2 (sociological and cultural factors), 3.3 (trip-related factors), and 3.4 (driving-task associated factors) and presented in the Deliverables 3.1 to 3.4 and an additional internal TRACE Report (Collection of Sub-Reports for task 3.3) is summarized and discussed. The objective of defining relevant accident related factors first and the objective of analysing traffic accident causation - from a factor's point of view while taking traditional views into account - on different levels - by using statistic methods for existing databases as provided by the Work Package 3 Partners and - by using new (developed in Work Package 5 of the TRACE project) methods on new case analysis in order to gain new knowledge on accident causation was possible to reach. The scope of the identified key aspects as found by the Partners in their work for the relevance in EU27 is discussed. In accordance, even further, appropriate suggestions for prevention of traffic accidents can be derived

    Role of baryonic resonances in the dilepton emission in nucleon-nucleon collisions

    Within an effective Lagrangian model, we present calculations for cross sections of the dilepton production in proton-proton and proton-neutron collisions at laboratory kinetic energies in 1-5 GeV range. Production amplitudes include contributions from the nucleon-nucleon bremsstrahlung as well as from the mechanism of excitation, propagation, and radiative decay of Delta(1232) and N*(1520) intermediate baryonic resonances. It is found that the delta isobar terms dominate the cross sections in the entire considered beam energy range. Our calculations are able to explain the data of the DLS collaboration on the dilepton production in proton-proton collisions for beam energies below 1.3 GeV. However, for incident energies higher than this the inclusion of contributions from other dilepton sources like Dalitz decay of pi0 and eta mesons, and direct decay of rho and omega mesons is necessary to describe the data.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figures, more details of the calculations added, version to appear in Phys.     The schizophrenia associated BRD1 gene regulates behavior, neurotransmission, and expression of schizophrenia risk enriched gene sets in mice

    BackgroundThe schizophrenia-associated BRD1 gene encodes a transcriptional regulator whose comprehensive chromatin interactome is enriched with schizophrenia risk genes. However, the biology underlying the disease association of BRD1 remains speculative.MethodsThis study assessed the transcriptional drive of a schizophrenia-associated BRD1 risk variant in vitro. Accordingly, to examine the effects of reduced Brd1 expression, we generated a genetically modified Brd1+/- mouse and subjected it to behavioral, electrophysiological, molecular, and integrative genomic analyses with focus on schizophrenia-relevant parameters.ResultsBrd1+/- mice displayed cerebral histone H3K14 hypo-acetylation and a broad range of behavioral changes with translational relevance to schizophrenia. These behaviors were accompanied by striatal dopamine/serotonin abnormalities and cortical excitation-inhibition imbalances involving loss of parvalbumin immunoreactive interneurons. RNAseq analyses of cortical and striatal micropunches from Brd1+/- and wild-type mice revealed differential expression of genes enriched for schizophrenia risk including several schizophrenia GWAS risk genes (e.g. calcium channel subunits (Cacna1c and Cacnb2), cholinergic muscarinic receptor 4 (Chrm4), dopamine receptor D2 (Drd2), and transcription factor 4 (Tcf4)). Integrative analyses further found differentially expressed genes to cluster in functional networks and canonical pathways associated with mental illness and molecular signaling processes (e.g. glutamatergic, monaminergic, calcium, cAMP, DARPP-32, and CREB signaling).ConclusionsOur study bridges the gap between genetic association and pathogenic effects and yields novel insights into the unfolding molecular changes in the brain of a new schizophrenia model that incorporates genetic risk at three levels: allelic, chromatin interactomic, and brain transcriptomic
