The current study implemented nine games focused on operations with whole numbers for the
eighth-grade students of San Juan de Jerusalén School in the 2021-2022 academic year. An
experimental group was selected to receive playful strategies while a control group did not.
The validation process for the instruments, including pre-tests and post-tests, was conducted
through expert judgment provided by teaching professionals who hold a fourth-level degree in
Education from the University of Cuenca. The study began with the pretest and concluded
with the posttest, and statistical analysis and hypothesis testing were conducted using the
JAMOVI statistical package. The Shapiro-Wilk Test was utilized to determine the normality of
the data, and the Levene Test was applied to verify the assumption of homogeneity of
variances of the data obtained. The t-test for independent samples was utilized to make
comparisons between the control and experimental group, while the t-test for paired samples
was used to make comparisons between the same group but at different times (pre-test and
post-test). Results indicated that the experimental group showed a significant increase in
average, suggesting that playful strategies had a positive impact on the teaching of operations
with integers.0000-0002-4096-835
The assessment determined that the species has been overexploited and for this reason a conservation plan was proposed and it based on three main guidelines: research, conservation and education Molleturo is 36% of the area of the Cuenca canton, it haves a variety of climatic floors. Here, there are a diversity of plant and animal species and habitants have been benefiting from it, an example is the Palm of wax, people of Molleturo extract the leaflets and they elaborate handicrafts in Easter, in spite of that its commercialization is prohibited. The present investigation identifies areas potentially suitable for the growth of the Ceroxylon ventricosum species through of use of a potential distribution model called Maxent, it uses records of occurrence, and climate layers formed from meteorological information. The minimum training presence value was used to determine the cut-off threshold between presence/absence, the result was 0,39; the model was validated using Kappa of Cohen statistic, the result was 0,63. There are three zones of probability of presence in the obtained map, they correspond to high, medium and low, all equivalent 10,6% of the study area, these zones have the climatic and topographic characteristics suitable for the growth of the species. At the same time, an assessment of the population of the studied species was made; parameters such as elevation, diameter, stem height, density, soil use, canopy, dominance, physical state, reproductive.Ingeniero AmbientalCuenc

Biodiversity conservation: local and global consequences of the application of “rights of nature” by Ecuador
In 2008, Ecuador recognized the Constitutional Rights of Nature in a global first. This recognition implies a major shift in the human-nature relationship, from one between a subject with agency (humans) and an exploitable object (nature), to a more equilibrated relationship. However, the lack of a standard legal framework has left room for subjective interpretations and variable implementation. The recent widespread concessioning of pristine ecosystems to mining industries has set up an unprecedented conflict and test of these rights. Currently, a landmark case involving Los Cedros Protected Forest and mining companies has reached the Constitutional Court of Ecuador. If Ecuador’s highest Court rules in favor of Los Cedros and the Rights of Nature, it would set a legal precedent with enormous impact on biological conservation. Such a policy shift offers a novel conservation strategy, through citizen oversight and action. A ruling against Los Cedros and the Rights of Nature, while a major setback for biodiversity conservation, would be taken in stride by the active social movement supporting these goals, with the case likely moving into international courts. Meanwhile, extractive activities would continue and expand, with known consequences for biodiversity
Call for emergency action to restore dietary diversity and protect global food systems in times of COVID-19 and beyond: Results from a cross-sectional study in 38 countries
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the fragility of the global food system, sending shockwaves across countries' societies and economy. This has presented formidable challenges to sustaining a healthy and resilient lifestyle. The objective of this study is to examine the food consumption patterns and assess diet diversity indicators, primarily focusing on the food consumption score (FCS), among households in 38 countries both before and during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional study with 37 207 participants (mean age: 36.70 ± 14.79, with 77 % women) was conducted in 38 countries through an online survey administered between April and June 2020. The study utilized a pre-tested food frequency questionnaire to explore food consumption patterns both before and during the COVID-19 periods. Additionally, the study computed Food Consumption Score (FCS) as a proxy indicator for assessing the dietary diversity of households. Findings: This quantification of global, regional and national dietary diversity across 38 countries showed an increment in the consumption of all food groups but a drop in the intake of vegetables and in the dietary diversity. The household's food consumption scores indicating dietary diversity varied across regions. It decreased in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries, including Lebanon (p < 0.001) and increased in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries including Bahrain (p = 0.003), Egypt (p < 0.001) and United Arab Emirates (p = 0.013). A decline in the household's dietary diversity was observed in Australia (p < 0.001), in South Africa including Uganda (p < 0.001), in Europe including Belgium (p < 0.001), Denmark (p = 0.002), Finland (p < 0.001) and Netherland (p = 0.027) and in South America including Ecuador (p < 0.001), Brazil (p < 0.001), Mexico (p < 0.0001) and Peru (p < 0.001). Middle and older ages [OR = 1.2; 95 % CI = [1.125–1.426] [OR = 2.5; 95 % CI = [1.951–3.064], being a woman [OR = 1.2; 95 % CI = [1.117–1.367], having a high education (p < 0.001), and showing amelioration in food-related behaviors [OR = 1.4; 95 % CI = [1.292–1.709] were all linked to having a higher dietary diversity. Conclusion: The minor to moderate changes in food consumption patterns observed across the 38 countries within relatively short time frames could become lasting, leading to a significant and prolonged reduction in dietary diversity, as demonstrated by our findings.

adultos mayores. Objective: In 182 institutionalized elderly in geriatrics center in Cuenca,
