A CHECKLIST OF THE FLORA OF SHANJAN PROTECTED AREA, EAST AZERBAIJAN PROVINCE, NW IRAN
The flora of protected Shanjan rangeland in Shabestar district, Azerbaijan Province, NW Iran was studied using a 1 m x 1 m quadrate in spring and summer 2011. The climate of this area is cold and dry. In this area 94 plant species belonging to 25 families were identified as constituting the major part of the vegetation. The families in the area are Amaryllidaceae, Amaryllidaceae, Boraginaceae, Campanulaceae, Caryophllaceae, Cistaceae, Compositea, Cruciferae, Cyperaceae, Dipesaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Geraniaceae, Hypericaceae, Linaceae, Melvaceae, Orobachaceae, Papaveraceae, Paronychiaceae, Plantaginaceae, Polygolaceae, Ranunculaceae, Resedaceae, Rubiaceae, Scrophulariaceae, ¬ Solanaceae and¬ Valerianacea. Floristic composition is Irano-Turanian elements. Detailed analysis showed that Biennial plants were 3.19%, Annual 41.49% and Perennial 55.32%

Accuracy of point-of-care ultrasound using low frequency curvilinear transducer in the diagnosis of shoulder dislocation and confirmation of appropriate reduction
Background: Ultrasound (US) is an effective modality in the evaluation of shoulder dislocation and reduction. In most studies, high frequency US probes have been used. Objective: To determine the sensitivity and specificity of low frequency US in the diagnosis of shoulder dislocation and its proper reduction in the emergency department (ED). Methods: In a prospective observational study 84 patients, suspicious of shoulder dislocation, were enrolled in our study. In ED, they all underwent low frequency (curve) probe US examination by the emergency physician at the time of admission. Standard radiographies of their shoulder joints were taken later and then reported by the attending radiologist. As soon as the shoulder dislocation was confirmed, reduction of the joint was done under procedural sedation and analgesia. US and radiography of the relocated joint were taken for the second time. The sensitivity and specificity of low frequency US were compared with radiography by the appropriate statistical analysis. Results: In comparison to radiography, US had a sensitivity of 100.0%, specificity of 80.0%, positive predictive value of 98.7%, and negative predictive value of 100.0% in diagnosis of shoulder dislocation. The specificity of US in diagnosis of proper reduction of the joint, was estimated to be 98.7% with a negative predictive value of 100.0%. US took a significantly less time than radiography to be performed (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Low frequency US is highly accurate in diagnosing shoulder dislocation and its proper reduction. Thus it might be a good substitute for radiography in these situations. Keywords: Shoulder dislocation, Reduction, Ultrasound, Radiograph
Enhanced anticancer potency of hydroxytyrosol and curcumin by PLGA-PAA nano-encapsulation on PANC-1 pancreatic cancer cell line

Here, we investigated anti-cancer function of free and nano-encapsulated hydroxytyrosol (Hyd) and curcumin (Cur), and its combinations (Hyd-Cur) on PANC-1 cell line. The poly lactide-co-glycolide-co-polyacrylic acid (PLGA-co-PAA) nano-encapsulated Hyd and Cur were synthesized, and MTT assay was performed to evaluate cytotoxic effects of free and nano-encapsulated Hyd, Cur, and Hyd-Cur. Effects of free and nano-encapsulated Hyd, Cur, and Hyd-Cur were evaluated on viability, migration, morphological alterations, colony formation, and apoptosis on PANC-1 cells. We observed that free and nano-encapsulated Hyd, Cur, and Hyd-Cur significantly increased apoptosis rates as well as significantly decreased viability, migration, and colony formation in PANC-1 cells. According to our results, Hyd-Cur combination and nano-encapsulation therapy exerts more profound apoptotic and anti-proliferative effects on PANC-1 cells than free Hyd or Hyd monotherapy
