The NorduGrid architecture and tools
The NorduGrid project designed a Grid architecture with the primary goal to
meet the requirements of production tasks of the LHC experiments. While it is
meant to be a rather generic Grid system, it puts emphasis on batch processing
suitable for problems encountered in High Energy Physics. The NorduGrid
architecture implementation uses the \globus{} as the foundation for various
components, developed by the project. While introducing new services, the
NorduGrid does not modify the Globus tools, such that the two can eventually
co-exist. The NorduGrid topology is decentralized, avoiding a single point of
failure. The NorduGrid architecture is thus a light-weight, non-invasive and
dynamic one, while robust and scalable, capable of meeting most challenging

Atlas Data-Challenge 1 on NorduGrid
The first LHC application ever to be executed in a computational Grid
environment is the so-called ATLAS Data-Challenge 1, more specifically, the
part assigned to the Scandinavian members of the ATLAS Collaboration. Taking
advantage of the NorduGrid testbed and tools, physicists from Denmark, Norway
and Sweden were able to participate in the overall exercise starting in July
2002 and continuing through the rest of 2002 and the first part of 2003 using
solely the NorduGrid environment. This allowed to distribute input data over a
wide area, and rely on the NorduGrid resource discovery mechanism to find an
optimal cluster for job submission. During the whole Data-Challenge 1, more
than 2 TB of input data was processed and more than 2.5 TB of output data was

CP violation in the inclusive b -> s g decay in the framework of multi Higgs doublet models
We study the decay width and CP asymmetry of the inclusive process b--> s g
(g denotes gluon) in the multi Higgs doublet models with complex Yukawa
couplings, including next to leading QCD corrections. We analyse the
dependencies of the decay width and CP asymmetry on the scale \mu and CP
violating parameter \theta. We observe that there exist an enhancement in the
decay width and CP asymmetry is at the order of 10^{-2}.Comment: 11 pages, 8 Figure

Charm multiplicity and the branching ratios of inclusive charmless b quark decays in the general two-Higgs-doublet models
In the framework of general two-Higgs-doublet models, we calculate the
branching ratios of various inclusive charmless b decays by using the low
energy effective Hamiltonian including next-to-leading order QCD corrections,
and examine the current status and the new physics effects on the determination
of the charm multiplicity and semileptonic branching ratio .
Within the considered parameter space, the enhancement to the ratio due to the charged-Higgs penguins can be as large as a factor of 8 (3) in
the model III (II), while the ratio can be increased from
the standard model prediction of 2.49% to 4.91% (2.99%) in the model III (II).
Consequently, the value of and can be decreased simultaneously
in the model III. The central value of will be lowered slightly by
about 0.003, but the ratio can be reduced significantly from the
theoretical prediction of in the SM to , for GeV, respectively. We find that
the predicted and the measured now agree within roughly one
standard deviation after taking into account the effects of gluonic charged
Higgs penguins in the model III with a relatively light charged Higgs boson.Comment: 25 pages, Latex file, axodraw.sty, 6 figures. Final version to be

Gut Microbiota Composition in Mid-Pregnancy Is Associated with Gestational Weight Gain but Not Prepregnancy Body Mass Index
Background: Pregnancy is a time of numerous hormonal, metabolic, and immunological changes for both the mother and the fetus. Furthermore, maternal gut microbiota composition (GMC) is altered during pregnancy. One major factor affecting GMC in pregnant and nonpregnant populations is obesity. The aim was to analyze associations between maternal overweight/obesity, as well as gestational weight gain (GWG) and GMC. Moreover, the modifying effect of depression and anxiety symptom scores on weight and GMC were investigated. Methods: Study included 46 women from the FinnBrain Birth Cohort study, of which 36 were normal weight, and 11 overweight or obese according to their prepregnancy body mass index (BMI). Stool samples were collected in gestational week 24, and the GMC was sequenced with Illumina MiSeq approach. Hierarchical clustering was executed to illuminate group formation according to the GMC. The population was divided according to Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes dominance. Symptoms of depression, general anxiety, and pregnancy-related anxiety were measured by using standardized questionnaires. Results: Excessive GWG was associated with distinct GMC in mid-pregnancy as measured by hierarchical clustering and grouping according to Firmicutes or Bacteroidetes dominance, with Bacteroidetes being prominent and Firmicutes being less prominent in the GMC among those with increased GWG. Reduced alpha diversity was observed among the Bacteroidetes-dominated subjects. There were no zero-order effects between the abundances of bacterial genera or phyla, alpha or beta diversity, and prepregnancy BMI or GWG. Conclusion:Bacteroidetes-dominated GMC in mid-pregnancy is associated with increased GWG and reduced alpha diversity.</p
Measurement of the t(t)over-bar production cross section in the dilepton channel in pp collisions at âs=8 TeV
The top-antitop quark (t (t) over bar) production cross section is measured in proton-proton collisions at root s = 8 TeV with the CMS experiment at the LHC, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.3 fb(-1). The measurement is performed by analysing events with a pair of electrons or muons, or one electron and one muon, and at least two jets, one of which is identified as originating from hadronisation of a bottom quark. The measured cross section is 239 +/- 2 (stat.) +/- 11 (syst.) +/- 6 (lum.) pb, for an assumed top-quark mass of 172.5 GeV, in agreement with the prediction of the standard model
Search for the standard model Higgs boson in the H to ZZ to 2l 2nu channel in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV
A search for the standard model Higgs boson in the H to ZZ to 2l 2nu decay
channel, where l = e or mu, in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7
TeV is presented. The data were collected at the LHC, with the CMS detector,
and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 inverse femtobarns. No
significant excess is observed above the background expectation, and upper
limits are set on the Higgs boson production cross section. The presence of the
standard model Higgs boson with a mass in the 270-440 GeV range is excluded at
95% confidence level.Comment: Submitted to JHE
