Factorization of strongly (p,sigma)-continuous multilinear operators
We introduce the new ideal of strongly-continuous linear operators in order to study the adjoints of the -absolutely continuous linear operators. Starting from this ideal we build a new multi-ideal by using the composition method. We prove the corresponding Pietsch domination theorem and we present a representation of this multi-ideal by a tensor norm. A factorization theorem characterizing the corresponding multi-ideal - which is also new for the linear case - is given. When applied to the case of the Cohen strongly -summing operators, this result gives also a new factorization theorem.D. Kothe dual of Banach lattices generated by vector measures
We study the Kothe dual spaces of Banach function lattices generated by abstract methods having roots in the theory of interpolation spaces. We apply these results to Banach spaces of integrable functions with respect to Banach space valued countably additive vector measures. As an application we derive a description of the Banach dual of a large class of these spaces, including Orlicz spaces of integrable functions with respect to vector measuresThe first author was supported by the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP). Metagenomic insights into diazotrophic communities across Arctic glacier forefields
Microbial nitrogen fixation is crucial for building labile nitrogen stocks and facilitating higher plant colonization in oligotrophic glacier forefield soils. Here, the diazotrophic bacterial community structure across four Arctic glacier forefields was investigated using metagenomic analysis. In total, 70 soil metagenomes were used for taxonomic interpretation based on 185 nitrogenase (nif) sequences, extracted from assembled contigs. The low number of recovered genes highlights the need for deeper sequencing in some diverse samples, to uncover the complete microbial populations. A key group of forefield diazotrophs, found throughout the forefields, was identified using a nifH phylogeny, associated with nifH Cluster I and III. Sequences related most closely to groups including Alphaproteobacteria, Betaproteobacteria, Cyanobacteria and Firmicutes. Using multiple nif genes in a Last Common Ancestor analysis revealed a diverse range of diazotrophs across the forefields. Key organisms identified across the forefields included Nostoc, Geobacter, Polaromonas and Frankia. Nitrogen fixers which are symbiotic with plants were also identified, through the presence of root associated diazotrophs, which fix nitrogen in return for reduced carbon. Additional nitrogen fixers identified in forefield soils were metabolically diverse, including fermentative and sulphur cycling bacteria, halophiles and anaerobes
Deep Learning for Cardiologist-level Myocardial Infarction Detection in Electrocardiograms
Myocardial infarction is the leading cause of death worldwide. In this paper,
we design domain-inspired neural network models to detect myocardial
infarction. First, we study the contribution of various leads. This systematic
analysis, first of its kind in the literature, indicates that out of 15 ECG
leads, data from the v6, vz, and ii leads are critical to correctly identify
myocardial infarction. Second, we use this finding and adapt the ConvNetQuake
neural network model--originally designed to identify earthquakes--to attain
state-of-the-art classification results for myocardial infarction, achieving
classification accuracy on a record-wise split, and
classification accuracy on a patient-wise split. These two results represent
cardiologist-level performance level for myocardial infarction detection after
feeding only 10 seconds of raw ECG data into our model. Third, we show that our
multi-ECG-channel neural network achieves cardiologist-level performance
without the need of any kind of manual feature extraction or data
pre-processing.Comment: Accepted to the European Medical and Biological Engineering

Maharam-type kernel representation for operators with a trigonometric domination
[EN] Consider a linear and continuous operator T between Banach function spaces.
We prove that under certain requirements an integral inequality for T is equivalent to a
factorization of T through a specific kernel operator: in other words, the operator T has
what we call a Maharam-type kernel representation. In the case that the inequality provides
a domination involving trigonometric functions, a special factorization through the Fourier
operator is given. We apply this result to study the problem that motivates the paper:
the approximation of functions in L2[0, 1] by means of trigonometric series whose Fourier
coefficients are given by weighted trigonometric integrals. This research has been supported by MTM2016-77054-C2-1-P (Ministerio de Economia, Industria y Competitividad, Spain).Sánchez Pérez, EA. Peripheral and placental immune responses in sheep after experimental infection with "Toxoplasma gondii" at the three terms of gestation
P. 1-9Although it is known that gestation could infuence the clinical course of ovine toxoplasmosis, the precise efect of the term of gestation when sheep are infected are yet mostly unknown. The aim of this study was to evaluate the peripheral and placental immune responses developed in pregnant sheep after experimental infection with Toxoplasma gondiiat diferent times of gestation. Thirty‑six pregnant sheep were allocated in diferent groups, orally inocu‑lated with sporulated oocysts of T. gondiiat early, mid and late gestation and culled within 30 days post‑infection. The peripheral humoral and cytokine responses were evaluated, as well as the transcription of cytokines at the placenta.
Serological analysis revealed that, regardless the term of gestation when infected, specifc IgG against T. gondiiwere detected from day 8 post‑infection and there was an early peripheral release of IFN‑γ at the frst week post‑infection followed by a short peak of IL10 and TNF‑α at the second week post‑infection. There were no signifcant diferences in this response between infected groups. At the placenta, a similar increase in transcription of IFN‑γ, and TNF‑α was found at the three terms of gestation, while IL‑4 increased mainly at the frst and second terms and IL‑10 transcription was higher at the last term. While these fndings show that both Th1 and Th2 cytokines play a key role in the patho‑genesis of ovine toxoplasmosis and that placental and peripheral immune responses do not closely correlate, there seems to be no clear modulation of these responses along the gestation.S
