Measurement of the CKM angle Îł from a combination of B±→Dh± analyses

    Get PDF
A combination of three LHCb measurements of the CKM angle Îł is presented. The decays B±→D K± and B±→Dπ± are used, where D denotes an admixture of D0 and D0 mesons, decaying into K+K−, π+π−, K±π∓, K±π∓π±π∓, K0Sπ+π−, or K0S K+K− ïŹnal states. All measurements use a dataset corresponding to 1.0 fb−1 of integrated luminosity. Combining results from B±→D K± decays alone a best-ïŹt value of Îł =72.0◩ is found, and conïŹdence intervals are set Îł ∈ [56.4,86.7]◩ at 68% CL, Îł ∈ [42.6,99.6]◩ at 95% CL. The best-ïŹt value of Îł found from a combination of results from B±→Dπ± decays alone, is Îł =18.9◩, and the conïŹdence intervals Îł ∈ [7.4,99.2]◩ âˆȘ [167.9,176.4]◩ at 68% CL are set, without constraint at 95% CL. The combination of results from B± → D K± and B± → Dπ± decays gives a best-ïŹt value of Îł =72.6◩ and the conïŹdence intervals Îł ∈ [55.4,82.3]◩ at 68% CL, Îł ∈ [40.2,92.7]◩ at 95% CL are set. All values are expressed modulo 180◩, and are obtained taking into account the effect of D0–D0 mixing

The first model-independent measurement of the charm mixing parameters in the decay D 0 → K S 0 π + π − is reported, using a sample of pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1 at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The measured values are x=(−0.86±0.53±0.17)×10−2,y=(+0.03±0.46±0.13)×10−2, x=(−0.86±0.53±0.17)×10−2,y=(+0.03±0.46±0.13)×10−2, where the first uncertainties are statistical and include small contributions due to the external input for the strong phase measured by the CLEO collaboration, and the second uncertainties are systematic

    Get PDF
    Using three- and four-body decays of D mesons produced in semileptonic b-hadron decays, precision measurements of D meson mass differences are made together with a measurement of the D 0 mass. The measurements are based on a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb -1 collected in pp collisions at 7 TeV. Using the decay D 0 → K + K - K - π +, the D 0 mass is measured to be M(D0)=1864. 75± 0.15(stat)± 0.11(syst) MeV/c2. The mass differences M(D+)-M(D0=4.76± 0.12(stat)± MeV/c 2. M(Ds+)-M(D+)=98.68± 0.03(stat)± 0.04(syst) MeV/c2 are measured using the D 0 → K + K - π + π - and Ds+ to K+K -π+ modes. © 2013 CERN for the benefit of the LHCb collaboration

The first model-independent measurement of the charm mixing parameters in the decay D-0 -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi(-) is reported, using a sample of pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb(-1) at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The measured values are x = (0.86 +/- 0.53 +/- 0.17) x 10(-2), y = (+0.03 +/- 0.46 +/- 0.13) x 10(-2), where the first uncertainties are statistical and include small contributions due to the external input for the strong phase measured by the CLEO collaboration, and the second uncertainties are systematic

Study of the production of A(b)(0) and (B)over-bar(0) hadrons in pp collisions and first measurement of the A(b)(0)-> J/psi pK(-) branching fraction

    No full text
The product of the A(b)(0) ((B) over bar (0)) differential production cross-section and the branching fraction of the decay A(b)(0)-> J/psi pK(-) ((B) over bar (0)-> J/psi p (K) over bar*(892)(0)) is measured as a function of the beauty hadron transverse momentum, p(T), and rapidity, y. The kinematic region of the measurements is p(T) <20 GeV/c and 2.0 < y < 4.5. The measurements use a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3fb(-1) collected by the LHCb detector in pp collisions at centre-of-mass energies root s=7 TeV in 2011 and root s=8 TeV in 2012. Based on previous LHCb results of the fragmentation fraction ratio, f(Ab0)/f(d), the branching fraction of the decay A(b)(0)-> J/psi pK(-) is measured to be B(A(b)(0)-> J/psi pK(-))=(3.17 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.07 +/- 0.34(-0.28)(+0.45))x10(-4) where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, the third is due to the uncertainty on the branching fraction of the decay (B) over bar (0)-> J/psi p (K) over bar*(892)(0), and the fourth is due to the knowledge of f(Ab0)/f(d). The sum of the asymmetries in the production and decay between A(b)(0) and (A) over bar (0)(b) is also measured as a function of p(T) and y. The previously published branching fraction of A(b)(0)-> J/psi p pi(-), relative to that of A(b)(0)-> J/psi pK(-), is updated. The branching fractions of A(b)(0)-> P-c(+)(-> J/psi p)K- are determined
