    Efektivitas Larutan Atung (Parinarium glaberimum, Hassk) Terhadap Kualitas Loin Tuna Sirip Kuning (Thunnus albacares)

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektifitas larutan atung (Parinarium glaberimum, Hassk) terhadap kualitas tuna  (Thunnus albacares) loin. Konsentrasi larutan atung 1% (B/V) (A1), 2% (A2), 3% (A3), 4% (A4), 5% (A5) dan 6% (A6) serta tanpa larutan atung (A7) telah dicobakan dengan parameter uji  pH, Total Volatile Bases (TVB), Total Plate Count(TPC), Escherichia coli dan Salmonella. Kadar protein tuna loin perlakuan larutan atung 1 – 6% berkisar dari  20,78 – 24,35% dan tanpa atung hanya 19,11%. Nilai pH tuna loin perlakuan larutan atung 1 - 6% berkisar antara 6,50 – 6,70 dan tanpa atung 5,98. Kandungan TVB perlakuan larutan atung 1 - 6% berkisar antara 8,50 – 19,50 mg%N dan tanpa atung 29,00 mg%N. Kandungan TPC perlakuan larutan atung 1 - 6% berkisar antara 1,26 x 101 - 1,99 x 102 koloni/g dan tanpa atung 2,29 x 102 koloni/g. Kandungan Escherichia coli perlakuan larutan atung 3 - 4% berkisar antara 2,1 – 2,4 APM/g  dan tanpa atung 16,5 APM g. Kandungan Salmonella  semua perlakuan tidak terdeteksi atau negative

    An ISA-TAB-Nano based data collection framework to support data-driven modelling of nanotoxicology

    Analysis of trends in nanotoxicology data and the development of data driven models for nanotoxicity is facilitated by the reporting of data using a standardised electronic format. ISA-TAB-Nano has been proposed as such a format. However, in order to build useful datasets according to this format, a variety of issues has to be addressed. These issues include questions regarding exactly which (meta)data to report and how to report them. The current article discusses some of the challenges associated with the use of ISA-TAB-Nano and presents a set of resources designed to facilitate the manual creation of ISA-TAB-Nano datasets from the nanotoxicology literature. These resources were developed within the context of the NanoPUZZLES EU project and include data collection templates, corresponding business rules that extend the generic ISA-TAB-Nano specification as well as Python code to facilitate parsing and integration of these datasets within other nanoinformatics resources. The use of these resources is illustrated by a “Toy Dataset” presented in the Supporting Information. The strengths and weaknesses of the resources are discussed along with possible future developments

    The Candida albicans-Specific Gene EED1 Encodes a Key Regulator of Hyphal Extension

    The extension of germ tubes into elongated hyphae by Candida albicans is essential for damage of host cells. The C. albicans-specific gene EED1 plays a crucial role in this extension and maintenance of filamentous growth. eed1Δ cells failed to extend germ tubes into long filaments and switched back to yeast growth after 3 h of incubation during growth on plastic surfaces. Expression of EED1 is regulated by the transcription factor Efg1 and ectopic overexpression of EED1 restored filamentation in efg1Δ. Transcriptional profiling of eed1Δ during infection of oral tissue revealed down-regulation of hyphal associated genes including UME6, encoding another key transcriptional factor. Ectopic overexpression of EED1 or UME6 rescued filamentation and damage potential in eed1Δ. Transcriptional profiling during overexpression of UME6 identified subsets of genes regulated by Eed1 or Ume6. These data suggest that Eed1 and Ume6 act in a pathway regulating maintenance of hyphal growth thereby repressing hyphal-to-yeast transition and permitting dissemination of C. albicans within epithelial tissues

    Analisis migrasi vertikal zooplankton di Laut Banda telah dilakukan berdasarkan nilai hambur balik akustik yang diperoleh dari pengukuran pada tanggal 21-30 November 2013 menggunakan instrument akustik simrad EK 500 yang dipasang pada Kapal Riset Baruna Jaya VII. Hasil analisis menunjukan migrasi vertikal zooplankton di Laut Banda merupakan fungsi dari waktu dan konsentrasi klorofil. Agregasi zooplankton berada pada lapisan permukaan 0-25 meter untuk setiap waktu pengamatan, bersamaan dengan nilai konsentrasi khorofil yang tinggi yakni mencapai 2,1 mg/m3. Nilai volume hamburan balik akustik rerata pada strata kedalaman 0-25 meter adalah -84,31 dB, pada kedalaman 25-50 meter sebesar -82,02 dB dan pada kedalaman 50-75 meter sebesar -83,9 dB
