    We show that the κ\kappa-deformed Poincar\'e quantum algebra proposed for elementary particle physics has the structure of a Hopf agebra bicrossproduct U(so(1,3))\cobicross T. The algebra is a semidirect product of the classical Lorentz group so(1,3)so(1,3) acting in a deformed way on the momentum sector TT. The novel feature is that the coalgebra is also semidirect, with a backreaction of the momentum sector on the Lorentz rotations. Using this, we show that the κ\kappa-Poincar\'e acts covariantly on a κ\kappa-Minkowski space, which we introduce. It turns out necessarily to be deformed and non-commutative. We also connect this algebra with a previous approach to Planck scale physics.Comment: 12 pages. Revision: minor typos correcte

    Properties of sharp observables (normalized PV measures) in relation to smearing by a Markov kernel are studied. It is shown that for a sharp observable PP defined on a standard Borel space, and an arbitrary observable MM, the following properties are equivalent: (a) the range of PP is contained in the range of MM; (b) PP is a function of MM; (c) PP is a smearing of MM.Comment: 9 page

    One-Pot Three Component Synthesis of N-Arulquinolines

    N-arlquinolines derivatives are an important class of heterocyclic compounds having important pharmaceutical and biological activities. These compounds are used as antiplasmodial, intrinsic, cytotoxic, functional, antibacterial, antiproliferative, antimalarial, and even anti-cancer. The current methods of synthesis for these compounds such as; Skraup, Doebner-Von Miller, Conrad Limbach, Combes and Pfitzinger are unappealing to many. These methods are either costly, dangerous, time consuming or inefficient. In this presentation we report 1,4-Diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane known as DABCO as an efficient catalyst for one-pot multicomponent synthesis of 2-Amino-7-7-dimethyl-5-oxo-1,-diphenyl- 1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydroquinoline-3-carbonitriles from aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile, and 3- aryl-5,5-dimethyl-cyclohex-2-en-1-ones in DMF at room temperature. This procedure is an efficient and environmentally friendly approach for preparing N-arlquinonlines derivatives that offers many other advantages over previous methods such as: short reaction time, high yielding products, low cost, a high level of ease, and straight forward work-up. Different aromatic aldehydes have been used to show the general catalytic application of DABCO for this reaction. All products were completely characterized via spectroscopy methods, such as IR and NMR as well as melting points.     Twistor Theory and Differential Equations

    This is an elementary and self--contained review of twistor theory as a geometric tool for solving non-linear differential equations. Solutions to soliton equations like KdV, Tzitzeica, integrable chiral model, BPS monopole or Sine-Gordon arise from holomorphic vector bundles over T\CP^1. A different framework is provided for the dispersionless analogues of soliton equations, like dispersionless KP or SU()SU(\infty) Toda system in 2+1 dimensions. Their solutions correspond to deformations of (parts of) T\CP^1, and ultimately to Einstein--Weyl curved geometries generalising the flat Minkowski space. A number of exercises is included and the necessary facts about vector bundles over the Riemann sphere are summarised in the Appendix.Comment: 23 Pages, 9 Figure
