Evalución de la extensión ganglionar mediastínica en el cáncer de pulmón

En este trabajo, realizado sobre una muestra de 400 pacientes afectos de cáncer de pulmón y tratados quirúrgicamente en el Servicio de Cirugía Torácica del HCUV en el periodo 2012-2015, se ha elaborado un estudio de 17 pacientes diagnosticados inicialmente de cáncer de pulmón de células no pequeñas en estadio IIIA, en los que tras tratamiento con quimioterapia de inducción o neoadyuvancia fue realizada una evaluación del grado de regresión tumoral a fin de determinar su consecución y la posibilidad de rescate para tratamiento quirúrgico. Previo a la exposición del trabajo, se da respuesta a distintas cuestiones básicas acerca del cáncer de pulmón. Se expone de forma breve y a modo de introducción, el diagnóstico y las técnicas de estadificación del cáncer del pulmón con un algoritmo resumen, los distintos estadios y la indicación terapéutica de acuerdo con los mismos. Se analizan los criterios de resecabilidad y operabilidad y finalmente se valoran los resultados del estudio realizado en el servicio de Cirugía Torácica del HCUV.OtroGrado en Medicin

Cuerpos impuros: Butler, Haraway, Preciado

Debemos al feminismo de la segunda mitad del siglo XX la problematización filosófica del cuerpo. El cuerpo, antes una instancia evidente, un dato puro, científico, comienza a ser considerada una entidad impura, política, contaminada por el poder. ¿Y si el cuerpo mismo estuviera sometido a la construcción social, o lo que es lo mismo, y si el sexo no fuera más que género? Transitamos esta senda de la mano de tres grandes filósofas: Judith Butler, Donna Haraway y Beatriz Preciado. Performance analysis of feedback-free collision resolution NDMA protocol

To support communications of a large number of deployed devices while guaranteeing limited signaling load, low energy consumption, and high reliability, future cellular systems require efficient random access protocols. However, how to address the collision resolution at the receiver is still the main bottleneck of these protocols. The network-assisted diversity multiple access (NDMA) protocol solves the issue and attains the highest potential throughput at the cost of keeping devices active to acquire feedback and repeating transmissions until successful decoding. In contrast, another potential approach is the feedback-free NDMA (FF-NDMA) protocol, in which devices do repeat packets in a pre-defined number of consecutive time slots without waiting for feedback associated with repetitions. Here, we investigate the FF-NDMA protocol from a cellular network perspective in order to elucidate under what circumstances this scheme is more energy efficient than NDMA. We characterize analytically the FF-NDMA protocol along with the multipacket reception model and a finite Markov chain. Analytic expressions for throughput, delay, capture probability, energy, and energy efficiency are derived. Then, clues for system design are established according to the different trade-offs studied. Simulation results show that FF-NDMA is more energy efficient than classical NDMA and HARQ-NDMA at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and at medium SNR when the load increases.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Protocolo autoorganizado, seguro y fiable para redes de sensores inalámbricas

During this project we will propose a new security protocol with reliability mechanisms. This is designed to be used in self-organizing wireless sensor networks (WSN), taking into account the strong limitations that the sensor nodes have, mainly consisting in energy usage and limited memory storage constraints. The proposed protocol is described that provides security mechanisms in the communication from node to node. Everything is managed distributedly by the sensor nodes without depending on a central base station, providing more flexibility and scalability.Ingeniería de Telecomunicació

Una evaluación psicolingüístico-computacional de las capacidades sintácticas de los modelos BERT para el gallego en la intersección entre la resolución de dependencias y el tiempo de entrenamiento

This paper explores the ability of Transformer models to capture subject-verb and noun-adjective agreement dependencies in Galician. We conduct a series of word prediction experiments in which we manipulate dependency length together with the presence of an attractor noun that acts as a lure. First, we evaluate the overall performance of the existing monolingual and multilingual models for Galician. Secondly, to observe the effects of the training process, we compare the different degrees of achievement of two monolingual BERT models at different training points. We also release their checkpoints and propose an alternative evaluation metric. Our results confirm previous findings by similar works that use the agreement prediction task and provide interesting insights into the number of training steps required by a Transformer model to solve long-distance dependencies.Este trabajo analiza la capacidad de los modelos Transformer para capturar las dependencias de concordancia sujeto-verbo y sustantivo-adjetivo en gallego. Llevamos a cabo una serie de experimentos de predicción de palabras manipulando la longitud de la dependencia junto con la presencia de un sustantivo intermedio que actúa como distractor. En primer lugar, evaluamos el rendimiento global de los modelos monolingües y multilingües existentes para el gallego. En segundo lugar, para observar los efectos del proceso de entrenamiento, comparamos los diferentes grados de consecución de dos modelos monolingües BERT en diferentes puntos del entrenamiento. Además, publicamos sus puntos de control y proponemos una métrica de evaluación alternativa. Phase space description of nonlinear directional couplers

A comprehensive analysis of the symmetric nonlinear directional coupler as a function of the excitation conditions is reported. The analysis is based on a coupled-mode technique in normalized (dimensionless) parameters, using the linear supermodes of the guiding structure, most of the results being derived from the Hamiltonian of the resulting nonlinear equations. The exchange of power between the branches in the coupler is graphically described by means of the trajectories of the motion in the phase space. The effect of saturation of the nonlinear index has been included.Peer Reviewe

El Departamento de Geografía e Historia del IES Haygón está implicado en una línea de trabajo centrada en la introducción del aprendizaje basado en proyectos, como propuesta de enriquecimiento curricular abierto a todo el alumnado participante. A partir de la interpretación del currículum y de la selección de problemas sociales relevantes del ámbito de la Geografía, este planteamiento metodológico desarrolla las competencias clave en nuestro alumnado, facilita la atención a la diversidad y favorece su participación efectiva y su creatividad a través de la incorporación decidida de las TIC en las tareas de aprendizaje

Music festivals as mediators and their influence on consumer awareness

Cultural products compete for public awareness in markets with high uncertainty, oversupply and a short product life cycle. Altogether, this means that only a small fraction of all releases generate the necessary consumer awareness to achieve a significant commercial success. This paper aims at identifying the informational function music festivals serve in cultural markets and how it translates into consumer discovery of cultural supply. To do so, we empirically measure informational spillover effects to performers at an established music festival. We hypothesize that this effect stems from the reputation attached to the brand equity of cultural organizations, is asymmetric, as it decreases with the success of the performer such that lesser-known performers profit more than well-known ones. Empirical results are consistent with our hypotheses
