Efficient approaches to agile cost estimation in software industries: a project-based case study

    Get PDF
Agile was invented to improve and overcome the traditional deficiencies of software development. At present, the agile model is used in software development very vastly due to its support to developers and clients. Agile methodology increases the interaction between the developer-client, and it makes software product defects free. The agile model is fast and becoming more popular because of its features and flexibility. The study shows that the agile software development model is an efficient and effective software development strategy that easily accommodates user changes, but it is not free from errors or shortcomings. The study shows that COCOMO and Planning Poker are famous cost estimation procedures, but are not ingenious for agile development. We conduct a study on real-time projects from multinational software industries using different estimation approaches to estimate the project’s cost and time. We thoroughly explain these projects with the limitations of the techniques. The study has proven that the traditional and modern estimation approaches still have limitations to accurate estimation of projects

Effects of splitter Blade Length on disc pump performance

    Get PDF
The disc pump operates using boundary layer principle and viscous drag with a relatively low efficiency. There are methods to increase head and efficiency, one of them is the placing of blades sectors or splitter blades in discs. This method has been applied only in the low viscosity fluids pumping (v < 0.1 stokes). This study describe an experimental research in a hight viscocity fluid (v = 2 stokes) with exit angle (32 = 35° and different splitter blades Lengths (Ls) (75, 50, 25%). The purpose is to determinate the splitter blades length that achieves the most effective combination between the blade effect and boundary layer effect in order to increase the energy transmission efficiency from the impeller to the fluid. As result, it can be established that the use of spliter blades is an alternative to increase the performance of the disc pump. The highest efficiency and head were obtained for the gapsize between two discs (b) of 12 mm using a 50% spliter blades length of the main blade length

Technology management to increase the efficiency of the supply chain

    Get PDF
This article is an effort to determine the status and contribution of technology management as an integral part of the supply chain, In the present article it starts from the premise that, the technology management system is an integral part of the supply chain; To corroborate the hypothesis, a field study was carried out in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia, aimed at medium-sized service, commercial and industrial companies, in order to diagnose the management of technological processes related to identify how technological management processes related to the supply chain are carried out and Logistic processes in these organizations. One of the conclusions reached in the study is that although the majority of participating companies currently use the technology management, this is not effective, since some activities in the supply chain are outside of its scope which prevents a true control and traceability of the products and services offered by companies

Artificial intelligence-based Kubernetes container for scheduling nodes of energy composition

    Get PDF
Kubernetes is a portable, extensible, open-source platform for managing containerized workloads and services that facilitates both declarative configuration and automation. This study presents Kubernetes Container Scheduling Strategy (KCSS) based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) that can assist in decision making to control the scheduling and shifting of load to nodes. The aim is to improve the container’s schedule requested digitally from users to enhance the efficiency in scheduling and reduce cost. The constraints associated with the existing container scheduling techniques which often assign a node to every new container based on a personal criterion by relying on individual terms has been greatly improved by the new system presented in this study. The KCSS presented in this study provides multicriteria node selection based on artificial intelligence in terms of decision making systems thereby giving the scheduler a broad picture of the cloud's condition and the user's requirements. AI Scheduler allows users to easily make use of fractional Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), integer GPUs, and multiple-nodes of GPUs, for distributed training on Kubernetes. © 2021, The Society for Reliability Engineering, Quality and Operations Management (SREQOM), India and The Division of Operation and Maintenance, Lulea University of Technology, Sweden

Use of surgical bone cement to increase the projection of the nasomaxillary buttress in a case of orthognathic surgery. Technical note

    Get PDF
The soft tissue outcome of the projection at the level of the nasomaxillary buttress is difficult to manage in cases of severe hypoprojection, being orthognathic surgery resolutive at the occlusal level but sometimes insufficient at the level of esthetic outcome. The literature describes the use of alloplastic prostheses and autologous bone grafts, but there are few documented cases of the use of premolded surgical cement for this purpose. The main advantage of the use of bone cement over the alternatives described is its ability to be premolded for customization, low cost, easy availability, speed of preparation and minimal comorbidity. This technical note describes the surgical steps and outcome of the use of surgical bone cement for projection augmentation at this level, including notes on preparation, premolding and fixation. Key words:Orthognathic surgery, maxillary surgery, surgical bone cement, nasomaxillary buttress

Is performed then, a review theoretical, in the search of a model of quality, to improve the management in productivity and competitiveness professional, in environments productive, outlining concepts as quality, models of management, quality in it education, in it training professional and of engineers, for approach a proposed of construction of this mode

Molecular characterization of multidrug resistant Enterobacterales strains isolated from liver and kidney transplant recipients in Spain

The objective of this study was to analyse the mechanisms of resistance to carbapenems and other extended-spectrum-?-lactams and to determine the genetic relatedness of multidrug-resistant Enterobacterales (MDR-E) causing colonization or infection in solid-organ transplantation (SOT) recipients. Prospective cohort study in kidney (n= 142), liver (n= 98) or kidney/pancreas (n= 7) transplant recipients between 2014 and 2018 in seven Spanish hospitals. We included 531 MDR-E isolates from rectal swabs obtained before transplantation and weekly for 4?6 weeks after the procedure and 10 MDR-E from clinical samples related to an infection. Overall, 46.2% Escherichia coli, 35.3% Klebsiella pneumoniae, 6.5% Enterobacter cloacae, 6.3% Citrobacter freundii and 5.7% other species were isolated. The number of patients with MDR-E colonization post-transplantation (176; 71.3%) was 2.5-fold the number of patients colonized pre-transplantation (71; 28.7%). Extended spectrum ?-lactamases (ESBLs) and carbapenemases were detected in 78.0% and 21.1% of MDR-E isolates respectively. In nine of the 247 (3.6%) transplant patients, the microorganism causing an infection was the same strain previously cultured from surveillance rectal swabs. In our study we have observed a low rate of MDR-E infection in colonized patients 4?6 weeks post-transplantation. E. coli producing blaCTX-M-G1 and K. pneumoniae harbouring blaOXA-48 alone or with blaCTX-M-G1 were the most prevalent MDR-E colonization strains in SOT recipients.Acknowledgements The authors thank Mª Jesús Lecea and Laura Álvarez for technical assistance.
