El potencial econòmic del sector nàutic a Catalunya. Les oportunitats de la Mediterrània
La vinculació de Barcelona amb el mar i, per consegüent amb el sector nàutic, és mil·lenària. La Mediterrània ha estat font de vida i de riquesa, origen d'invasions i de migracions, i protagonista de les principals fites històriques de la ciutat des del seu naixement fins als nostres dies. Serveixin com a exemple, la fundació d'Empúries pels grecs, la Tarraco romana, l'expansió comercial per la Mediterrània a l'Edat Mitjana, la tornada de Colom del descobriment d'Amèrica o, fins i tot més properament en el temps, els Jocs Olímpics del 1992, en què el mar va ser protagonista en l'esdeveniment i la transformació urbana de la ciutat. Aquesta vinculació ha tingut sempre una connotació i un impacte econòmic innegables. Sense les drassanes, les llotges, les cambres de navegació o els consolats de mar no es pot entendre la nostra societat, la nostra economia ni la nostra cultura. Barcelona ha estat el cap visible de tot un entramat comercial, cultural i legislatiu vinculat amb el mar
Bright Stars and Recent Star Formation in the Irregular Magellanic Galaxy NGC2366
The stellar content of the Im galaxy NGC 2366 is discussed on the basis of
CCD BVR photometry. The three brightest blue and red stars have been used to
estimate its distance, obtaining a balue of 2.9 Mpc. The spatial distribution
of the young stellar population is discussed in the light of the integrated
color indices and the color-magnitude diagrams of different zones of the
galaxy. A generalized star formation burst seems to have taken place about 50
Myr ago. The youngest stars are preferentially formed in the South-West part of
the bar, where the giant HII complex NGC 2363 is located, being younger and
bluer. The bar seems to play a role favouring star formation in one of its
extremes. Self-propagation however, does not seem to be triggering star
formation at large scale. A small region, populated by very young stars has

RNA-binding properties and membrane insertion of Melon necrotic spot virus (MNSV) double gene block movement proteins
Advances in structural and biochemical properties of carmovirus movement proteins (MPs) have only been obtained in p7 and p9 from Carnation mottle virus (CarMV). Alignment of carmovirus MPs revealed a low conservation of amino acid identity but interestingly, similarity was elevated in regions associated with the functional secondary structure elements reported for CarMV which were conserved in all studied proteins. Nevertheless, some differential features in relation with CarMV MPs were identified in those from Melon necrotic virus (MNSV) (p7A and p7B). p7A was a soluble non-sequence specific RNA-binding protein, but unlike CarMV p7, its central region alone could not account for the RNA-binding properties of the entire protein. In fact, a 22-amino acid synthetic peptide whose sequence corresponds to this central region rendered an apparent dissociation constant (K(d)) significantly higher than that of the corresponding entire protein (9 mM vs. 0.83-25.7 microM). This p7A-derived peptide could be induced to fold into an alpha-helical structure as demonstrated for other carmovirus p7-like proteins. Additionally, in vitro fractionation of p7B transcription/translation mixtures in the presence of ER-derived microsomal membranes strongly suggested that p7B is an integral membrane protein. Both characteristics of these two small MPs forming the double gene block (DGB) of MNSV are discussed in the context of the intra- and intercellular movement of carmovirus
Relating the CMSSM and SUGRA models with GUT scale and Super-GUT scale Supersymmetry Breaking
While the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM) with
universal gaugino masses, m_{1/2}, scalar masses, m_0, and A-terms, A_0,
defined at some high energy scale (usually taken to be the GUT scale) is
motivated by general features of supergravity models, it does not carry all of
the constraints imposed by minimal supergravity (mSUGRA). In particular, the
CMSSM does not impose a relation between the trilinear and bilinear soft
supersymmetry breaking terms, B_0 = A_0 - m_0, nor does it impose the relation
between the soft scalar masses and the gravitino mass, m_0 = m_{3/2}. As a
consequence, tan(\beta) is computed given values of the other CMSSM input
parameters. By considering a Giudice-Masiero (GM) extension to mSUGRA, one can
introduce new parameters to the K\"ahler potential which are associated with
the Higgs sector and recover many of the standard CMSSM predictions. However,
depending on the value of A_0, one may have a gravitino or a neutralino dark
matter candidate. We also consider the consequences of imposing the
universality conditions above the GUT scale. This GM extension provides a
natural UV completion for the CMSSM.Comment: 16 pages, 11 figures; added erratum correcting several equations and

Radiopurity control in the NEXT-100 double beta decay experiment: procedures and initial measurements
We have investigated the possibility of calibrating the PMTs of scintillation detectors, using the primary scintillation produced by X-rays to induce single photoelectron response of the PMT. The high-energy tail of this response, can be approximated to an exponential function, under some conditions. In these cases, it is possible to determine the average gain for each PMT biasing voltage from the inverse of the exponent of the exponential fit to the tail, which can be done even if the background and/or noise cover-up most of the distribution. We have compared our results with those obtained by the commonly used single electron response (SER) method, which uses a LED to induce a single photoelectron response of the PMT and determines the peak position of such response, relative to the pedestal peak (the electronic noise peak, which corresponds to 0 photoelectrons). The results of the exponential fit method agree with those obtained by the SER method when the average number of photoelectrons reaching the first dynode per light/scintillation pulse is around 1.0. The SER method has higher precision, while the exponential fit method has the advantage of being useful in situations where the PMT is already in situ, being difficult or even impossible to apply the SER method, e.g. in sealed scintillator/PMT devices
Accurate gamma and MeV-electron track reconstruction with an ultra-low diffusion Xenon/TMA TPC at 10 atm
We report the performance of a 10 atm Xenon/trimethylamine time projection chamber (TPC) for the detection of X-rays (30 keV) and gamma-rays (0.511-1.275 MeV) in conjunction with the accurate tracking of the associated electrons. When operated at such a high pressure and in similar to 1%-admixtures, trimethylamine (TMA) endows Xenon with an extremely low electron diffusion (1.3 +/- 0.13 mm-sigma (longitudinal), 0.95 +/- 0.20 mm-sigma (transverse) along 1 m drift) besides forming a convenient Penning-Fluorescent' mixture. The TPC, that houses 1.1 kg of gas in its fiducial volume, operated continuously for 100 live-days in charge amplification mode. The readout was performed through the recently introduced microbulk Micromegas technology and the AFTER chip, providing a 3D voxelization of 8 mm x 8 mm x 1.2 mm for approximately 10 cm/MeV-long electron tracks. Resolution in energy (epsilon) at full width half maximum (R) inside the fiducial volume ranged from R = 14.6% (30 keV) to R = 4.6% (1.275 MeV).
This work was developed as part of the R&D program of the NEXT collaboration for future detector upgrades in the search of the neutrino-less double beta decay (beta beta 0 nu) in Xe-136, specifically those based on novel gas mixtures. Therefore we ultimately focus on the calorimetric and topological properties of the reconstructed MeV-electron tracks. Choice of the initial antiretroviral treatment for HIV-positive individuals in the era of integrase inhibitors
BACKGROUND: We aimed to describe the most frequently prescribed initial antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimens in recent years in HIV-positive persons in the Cohort of the Spanish HIV/AIDS Research Network (CoRIS) and to investigate factors associated with the choice of each regimen. METHODS: We analyzed initial ART regimens prescribed in adults participating in CoRIS from 2014 to 2017. Only regimens prescribed in >5% of patients were considered. We used multivariable multinomial regression to estimate Relative Risk Ratios (RRRs) for the association between sociodemographic and clinical characteristics and the choice of the initial regimen. RESULTS: Among 2874 participants, abacavir(ABC)/lamivudine(3TC)/dolutegavir(DTG) was the most frequently prescribed regimen (32.1%), followed by tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF)/emtricitabine (FTC)/elvitegravir(EVG)/cobicistat(COBI) (14.9%), TDF/FTC/rilpivirine (RPV) (14.0%), tenofovir alafenamide (TAF)/FTC/EVG/COBI (13.7%), TDF/FTC+DTG (10.0%), TDF/FTC+darunavir/ritonavir or darunavir/cobicistat (bDRV) (9.8%) and TDF/FTC+raltegravir (RAL) (5.6%). Compared with ABC/3TC/DTG, starting TDF/FTC/RPV was less likely in patients with CD4100.000 copies/mL. TDF/FTC+DTG was more frequent in those with CD4100.000 copies/mL. TDF/FTC+RAL and TDF/FTC+bDRV were also more frequent among patients with CD4<200 cells//muL and with transmission categories other than men who have sex with men. Compared with ABC/3TC/DTG, the prescription of other initial ART regimens decreased from 2014-2015 to 2016-2017 with the exception of TDF/FTC+DTG. Differences in the choice of the initial ART regimen were observed by hospitals' location. CONCLUSIONS: The choice of initial ART regimens is consistent with Spanish guidelines' recommendations, but is also clearly influenced by physician's perception based on patient's clinical and sociodemographic variables and by the prescribing hospital location
