Effect of diethyl maleate on toxicity of linalool against two stored product insects in laboratory condition
Essential oil extracted from plants has been widely investigated for pest control properties, with some proving to be toxic in insect pests. In this study, effect of the synergist diethyl maleate (DEM) on toxicity of one monoterpenoids, linalool was studied against two most common stored-product insects such as Callosobruchus maculatus and Rhyzopertha dominica. Diethyl maleate was combined in mass ratios (1:8 and 1:4) with acetone used and applied on C. maculatus and R. dominica adult. Five concentrations of linalool were tested with four replications at 24 and 48 h with 30 adult insect in each replication. After 24 h of exposure, the LC50 values were estimated to be 23.61 and 31.01 μl/l air, and after 48 h, they were 15.07 and 21.84 for each insect, respectively. A combination of inalool with the synergist after 24 h of exposure, the LC50 values was estimated to be 11.93 and 13.07 μl/l air and after 48 h, they were 7.38 and 7.93, respectively for each insect. The synergist is able to block the specific system of enzymes involved in selection of tolerance in susceptible generations. Diethyl maleate is an inhibitor of glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity. Application of Proteomics in Lab Diagnosis
Proteomics is defined as a large-scale study of proteins, in particular their functions and structures. This review was aimed to introduce the application of proteomics in lab diagnosis. Beforehand, we introduce the methods, which were used in proteomics also the advantages and disadvantages of proteomics are challenged. In the end, the necessity of proteomics for understanding the structure, function, and interaction of proteins in different fields of sciences including biomarkers, drug discovery, etc. will be discussed
Correlation effects and the high-frequency spin susceptibility of an electron liquid: Exact limits
Spin correlations in an interacting electron liquid are studied in the
high-frequency limit and in both two and three dimensions. The third-moment sum
rule is evaluated and used to derive exact limiting forms (at both long- and
short-wavelengths) for the spin-antisymmetric local-field factor, . In two dimensions is found to diverge as at long wavelengths,
and the spin-antisymmetric exchange-correlation kernel of time-dependent spin
density functional theory diverges as in both two and three dimensions.
These signal a failure of the local-density approximation, one that can be
redressed by alternative approaches.Comment: 5 page
Clinical implementation of axial angulation of incisors in the course of routine fixed appliance treatment - a retrospective cohort study
PURPOSE
To identify clinically relevant factors for changes in axial angulation of incisors during routine fixed appliance orthodontic treatment.
METHODS
A total of 106 patients (grades 1-2 of IOTN, 64 females, 42 males; mean age: 15.5 years) from a private practice and treated with metal or ceramic brackets were included in this retrospective cohort study. The axial angulation of the upper and lower incisors was measured on lateral cephalograms before insertion of the first rectangular 0.016 × 0.022-in NiTi archwire (T0) and at the end of treatment about 8 weeks after insertion of the working 0.019 × 0.025-in stainless steel archwire (T1). Treatment-related changes according to bracket type, initial situation, premolar extraction, angle class, and skeletal vertical configuration were analyzed.
RESULTS
Although statistically significant treatment-related changes were seen for both the upper incisors (+ 1.3°) and the lower incisors (- 5.2°), only in ten patients (9.4%) was the prescribed torque value of 17° for the upper incisors and in no patient for the lower incisors achieved. A negative association between the induced change of axial angulation of incisors and the initial values was detected for the upper incisors as well as for the lower incisors. A comparison of the angle classes revealed significant differences in incisor changes. At the end of therapy, only a slight change for the upper central incisors in patients in angle class I cases and a significantly greater change in patients with angle class II/2 was observed. Cases with premolar extraction ended with lower axial angulation of the incisor than cases without extraction. The individual analysis of possible influencing factors also revealed an association with the vertical skeletal configuration.
CONCLUSIONS
For the first time, the presented data show clinically relevant influencing factors for incisor axial angulation changes of the upper and lower incisors in relation to the torque value of the applied brackets in the course of routine clinical practice. For the orthodontist, it remains mandatory to decide whether a customized system must be individualized in order to achieve individual therapy goals
The epidemiology of suicide behaviors among the countries of the eastern Mediterranean region of WHO: A systematic review
This systematic review aimed to help better to understand the epidemiology of suicidal behaviors among Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) countries. The PubMed, EMR medex, Scopus, PsychInfo, ISI, and IMEMR were searched with no language limitation for papers on the epidemiology of suicidal behaviors in the general population, published up to August 2013. A total of 13 articles were reviewed. The incidence (per 100.000) of committed suicide ranged from 0.55 to 5.4. The lifelong prevalence of attempted suicide, suicidal plan and thoughts were 0.72-4.2, 6.2-6.7, and 2.9-14.1, respectively. The figures for suicide are higher than those officially reported. Suicide behaviors� statistics is susceptible to underestimation presumably due to the socio-cultural, religious and legal barriers, not to mention the lack of well-organized registries and methodologically sound community-based surveys. © 2015 Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Stochastic Theory in the Strong Coupling Limit
The stochastic -theory in dimensions dynamically develops domain
wall structures within which the order parameter is not continuous. We develop
a statistical theory for the -theory driven with a random forcing which
is white in time and Gaussian-correlated in space. A master equation is derived
for the probability density function (PDF) of the order parameter, when the
forcing correlation length is much smaller than the system size, but much
larger than the typical width of the domain walls. Moreover, exact expressions
for the one-point PDF and all the moments are given. We then
investigate the intermittency issue in the strong coupling limit, and derive
the tail of the PDF of the increments . The scaling laws
for the structure functions of the increments are obtained through numerical

The political identities of neighbourhood planning in England
The rise of neighbourhood planning has been characterised as another step in a remorseless de-politicisation of the public sphere. A policy initiated by the Coalition Government in England to create the conditions for local communities to support housing growth, neighbourhood planning appears to evidence a continuing retreat from political debate and contestation. Clear boundaries are established for the holistic integration of participatory democracy into the strategic plan-making of the local authority. These boundaries seek to take politics out of development decisions and exclude all issues of contention from discussion. They achieve this goal at the cost of arming participatory democracy with a collective identity around which new antagonisms may develop. Drawing on the post-political theories of Chantal Mouffe this paper identifies the return of antagonism and conflict to participation in spatial planning. Key to its argument is the concept of the boundary or frontier that in Mouffe’s theoretical framework institutionalises conflict between political entities. Drawing on primary research with neighbourhood development plans in England the paper explores how boundary conditions and boundary designations generate antagonism and necessitate political action. The paper charts the development of the collective identities that result from these boundary lines and argues for the potential for neighbourhood planning to restore political conflict to the politics of housing development
Two-Particle-Self-Consistent Approach for the Hubbard Model
Even at weak to intermediate coupling, the Hubbard model poses a formidable
challenge. In two dimensions in particular, standard methods such as the Random
Phase Approximation are no longer valid since they predict a finite temperature
antiferromagnetic phase transition prohibited by the Mermin-Wagner theorem. The
Two-Particle-Self-Consistent (TPSC) approach satisfies that theorem as well as
particle conservation, the Pauli principle, the local moment and local charge
sum rules. The self-energy formula does not assume a Migdal theorem. There is
consistency between one- and two-particle quantities. Internal accuracy checks
allow one to test the limits of validity of TPSC. Here I present a pedagogical
review of TPSC along with a short summary of existing results and two case
studies: a) the opening of a pseudogap in two dimensions when the correlation
length is larger than the thermal de Broglie wavelength, and b) the conditions
for the appearance of d-wave superconductivity in the two-dimensional Hubbard
