St-Modeler : a clinical guidelines development and verification environment

Orientador: Jacques WainerDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de ComputaçãoResumo: Um guia de conduta médica é um documento formado por um conjunto de recomendações sistematicamente desenvolvidas para auxiliar nas decisões de praticantes e pacientes sobre cuidados de saúde em circunstâncias específicas. Desde que sejam bem elaborados, comprovadamente melhoram a qualidade média do atendimento médico. Frequentemente médicos não estão acostumados com guias práticos escritos em papel e não os aplicam adequadamente. Implementados em sistemas computacionais podem melhorar significativamente a qualidade do atendimento médico diretamente no local da assistência. Este trabalho está ligado ao projeto ST-Guide, uma iniciativa surgida no Instituto de Computação da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (IC-UNICAMP) para resolver o problema de formalização e implementação de guias clínicos práticos. As contribuições realizadas foram: (a) reestruturação do projeto em outras tecnologias; (b) estabelecimento e implementação de uma arquitetura extensível para suportar modelagem e implementação de guias; (c) realização de alterações conceituais para facilitar o processo de modelagem; (d) criação de novo algoritmo para verificação lógica de incompletude e ambiguidade; e (e) criação de um ambiente gráfico de desenvolvimento de guias associado a um verificador lógico que atua em tempo real, isto é, à medida em que ocorre a modelagem. Experimentos baseados em guias clínicos para assistência pré-natal e hipertensão são apresentados e o texto é concluído com uma discussão do que foi realizado e sugestão de trabalhos futuros.Abstract: Clinical guidelines are systematically developed statements to assist practitioner and patient decisions about appropriate health care for specific clinical circumstances. Since well elaborated, they provenly improve medical assistance quality. Oftenly clinicians aren't used to paper written guidelines and don't apply them adequately. Implemented in computer systems guidelines can significantly improve medical care quality directly at the point-of-care. This work is related to ST-Guide project, an initiative arisen at the Institute of Computing of State University of Campinas (IC-UNICAMP) to solve the practice guideline formalization and implementation problems. The contributions done were: (a) project restructuring on other technologies; (b) extensible architecture specification and implementation to support guideline modelling and implementation; (c) conceptual changes to ease modelling; (d) new incompletude and ambiguity logical verification algorithm; and (e) guideline graphical development environment coupled with a real time logical verifier. Experiments based on pre-natal assistence and hypertension clinical guidelines are presented and the text is concluded with a discussion of what was done and future work suggestions.MestradoMestre em Computaçã

Shrimp and conventional U-Pb age, Sm-Nd isotopic characteristics and tectonic significance of the K-rich Itapuranga suite in Goiás, Central Brazil

The Itapuranga alkali granite and Uruana quartz syenite are large K-rich EW-elongated intrusions, in the central part of the Neoproterozoic Brasília Belt, central Brazil. They are associated with Pireneus lineaments, which cut the regional NNW-SSE structures of the southern part of the belt. SHRIMP and conventional U-Pb data for the Itapuranga and Uruana intrusions indicate crystallization ages of 624 ± 10 Ma and 618 ± 4 Ma, respectively. Three zircon cores from the Itapuranga granite yielded U-Pb ages between 1.79 and 1.49 Ga. Sm-Nd TDM ages for both intrusions are 1.44 Ga and eNd(T) values are -5.1 and -5.7, suggesting the input of material derived from older (Paleo- to Mesoproterozoic) sialic crust in the origin of the parental magmas. Magma mixing structures indicate co-existence of mafic and felsic end-members. The felsic end-member of the intrusions is dominantly represented by crust-derived melts, formed in response to the invasion of Paleo/Mesoproterozoic sialic crust by alkali-rich mafic magmas at ca. 620 Ma. These intrusions are roughly contemporaneous with, or perhaps slightly younger than, the peak of regional metamorphism in the southern Brasília Belt. Their emplacement along the Pireneus lineament suggest a syn-tectonic origin for them, most probably in transtensional settings along these faults

COVID 19 E A CRISE DE PERFORMANCE CONTRATUAL NOS CONTRATOS INTERNACIONAIS REGIDOS PELA CONVENÇÃO DE VIENA SOBRE CONTRATOS DE COMPRA E VENDA INTERNACIONAL DE MERCADORIAS (CISG)

Objetivos: Através deste artigo analisaremos as implicações da pandemia do vírus COVID-19 nos contratos internacionais, impactando as cláusulas de performance segundo a CISG.Metodologia: A pesquisa foi realizada mediante uma abordagem indutiva, hipotética, entendimento de conceitos jurídicos e uma pesquisa bibliográfica/documental, com objetivo exploratório e conclusivo.Resultados: O estudo do assunto nos leva à algumas conclusões quanto ao não cumprimento total ou parcialmente dos contratos internacionais do comércio em razão das dificuldades impostas pela crise epidemiológica mundial da COVID-19.Contribuições: Trata-se de assunto de grande relevância e atual, em especial pelos impactos que estão acarretando nas economias dos diversos Países e na sociedade como um todo, se inserindo num estudo de interesse do Direito Internacional.Palavras-chave: COVID-19; Riscos nos Contratos Internacionais; CISG; Hardship.  ABSTRACTObjectives: This paper analyzes the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic in international commercial contracts and its impacts on the obligations performance within the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).Methodology: The research was conducted through an inductive, hypothetical approach, based on an understanding of legal concepts and a bibliographic/documentary survey, with an exploratory and conclusive objective.Results: The study leads to some conclusions regarding the total or partial failure to perform contracts due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences on international trades.Contributions: This is a topical matter of great relevance, given its impacts on the different countries’ economies and on the society as a whole, which falls within the field of interest of international law.Keywords: COVID-19; Risks in International Contracts; CISG; Hardships.

AtPIN: Arabidopsis thaliana Protein Interaction Network

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) constitute one of the most crucial conditions to sustain life in living organisms. To study PPI in Arabidopsis thaliana we have developed AtPIN, a database and web interface for searching and building interaction networks based on publicly available protein-protein interaction datasets.</p> <p>Description</p> <p>All interactions were divided into experimentally demonstrated or predicted. The PPIs in the AtPIN database present a cellular compartment classification (C³) which divides the PPI into 4 classes according to its interaction evidence and subcellular localization. It has been shown in the literature that a pair of genuine interacting proteins are generally expected to have a common cellular role and proteins that have common interaction partners have a high chance of sharing a common function. In AtPIN, due to its integrative profile, the reliability index for a reported PPI can be postulated in terms of the proportion of interaction partners that two proteins have in common. For this, we implement the Functional Similarity Weight (FSW) calculation for all first level interactions present in AtPIN database. In order to identify target proteins of cytosolic glutamyl-tRNA synthetase (Cyt-gluRS) (AT5G26710) we combined two approaches, AtPIN search and yeast two-hybrid screening. Interestingly, the proteins glutamine synthetase (AT5G35630), a disease resistance protein (AT3G50950) and a zinc finger protein (AT5G24930), which has been predicted as target proteins for Cyt-gluRS by AtPIN, were also detected in the experimental screening.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>AtPIN is a friendly and easy-to-use tool that aggregates information on <it>Arabidopsis thaliana </it>PPIs, ontology, and sub-cellular localization, and might be a useful and reliable strategy to map protein-protein interactions in Arabidopsis. Estudo morfológico do efeito do trauma mecânico sobre a amelogênese em incisivos de ratos

 Introdução: a amelogênese compreende a formação do esmalte por células especializadas denominadas ameloblastos. Osameloblastos secretam proteínas da matriz e são responsáveis pela criação de um ambiente extracelular que favorece a mineralizaçãodo esmalte. Contudo, diversos fatores, como o trauma dentário, podem interferir na amelogênese, contribuindo para a formação deum esmalte defeituoso. O trauma dentário tem sido responsável por muitos casos de hipoplasia que podem fragilizar o dente, alémde trazer desconforto estético. Objetivo: examinar as alterações morfológicas sobre o epitélio odontogênico e a matriz de esmaltede incisivos de ratos, produzidas por um trauma dentário. Metodologia: incisivos de ratos foram extruídos e depois reposicionadosem seus alvéolos originais. Decorridos 3, 7, 10, 20, 30 e 60 dias do procedimento cirúrgico, os dentes foram fixados em uma soluçãode formaldeído e glutaraldeído, processados histologicamente e corados com azul de toluidina. Resultados: a análise morfológicarevelou a formação de uma matriz de esmalte bastante heterogênea, com espessura irregular, particularmente na porção mais apicaldos incisivos. Algumas matrizes de esmalte expostas mostravam pequenas lacunas de reabsorção, muitas vezes com deposição deum material cementoide. Conclusão: o presente estudo mostrou que o trauma foi suficiente para produzir alterações hipoplásicase de hipomineralização importantes no esmalte que se relacionaram com a fase funcional dos ameloblastos na região afetada

Ferulic acid and derivatives: molecules with potential application in the pharmaceutical field

Ferulic acid is a phenolic acid widely distributed in the plant kingdom. It presents a wide range of potential therapeutic effects useful in the treatments of cancer, diabetes, lung and cardiovascular diseases, as well as hepatic, neuro and photoprotective effects and antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities. Overall, the pharmaceutical potential of ferulic acid can be attributed to its ability to scavenge free radicals. However, recent studies have revealed that ferulic acid presents pharmacological properties beyond those related to its antioxidant activity, such as the ability to competitively inhibit HMG-CoA reductase and activate glucokinase, contributing to reduce hypercholesterolemia and hyperglycemia, respectively. The present review addresses ferulic acid dietary sources, the pharmacokinetic profile, antioxidant action mechanisms and therapeutic effects in the treatment and prevention of various diseases, in order to provide a basis for understanding its mechanisms of action as well as its pharmaceutical potential.O ácido ferúlico é um ácido fenólico amplamente distribuído no reino vegetal. Ele apresenta uma ampla gama de potenciais efeitos terapêuticos utéis no tratamento do câncer, diabetes, doenças pulmonares e cardiovasculares, bem como efeitos hepáticos, neuro e fotoprotetores, atividades antimicrobianas e anti-inflamatórias. O potencial farmacêutico do ácido ferúlico pode ser atribuído à sua capacidade em sequestrar radicais livres. No entanto, estudos recentes revelaram que o ácido ferúlico apresenta propriedades farmacológicas, além da sua atividade antioxidante, como a capacidade de inibir competitivamente a HMG-CoA redutase e ativar a glucoquinase, contribuindo para reduzir a hipercolesterolemia e hiperglicemia, respectivamente. A presente revisão aborda as fontes dietéticas de ácido ferúlico, o perfil farmacocinético, os mecanismos de ação como antioxidante e efeitos terapêuticos no tratamento e prevenção de várias doenças, de modo a proporcionar uma base para a compreensão dos seus mecanismos de ação, bem como os seus potenciais farmacêuticos

Direito, transnacionalidade e sustentabilidade empática

O presente artigo científico possui como objetivo discutir alguns aspectos dos postulados da transnacionalidade jurídica e de suas teorias e práticas avaliadas e descritas em suas trajetórias evolutivas, seus paradigmas estruturais e relações com a sociedade e a história. E também a partir do espargimento da sustentabilidade como possível novo paradigma das ciências no mundo globalizado e suas possíveis repercussões no direito e na ciência jurídica. Na metodologia foi utilizado o método indutivo na fase de investigação; na fase de tratamento de dados o método cartesiano e no relatório da pesquisa foi empregada a base indutiva.
