Infección del tracto urinario y amenaza de parto pretérmino en gestantes adolescentes de un Hospital peruano: Urinary tract infection and threatened preterm delivery in teenage pregnancies of a Peruvian Hospital

Introduction: The threatened preterm delivery can cause serious outcomes, so it is necessary toevaluate its causes. Objective: to determine if urinary tract infection (UTI) is a factor associated withthe threatened preterm delivery in pregnant teenages at the Hospital Sergio E. Bernales 2018 – 2019.Methods: Observational analytical case-control study. The study included pregnant teenages admittedto the gynecology and obstetrics service of the Hospital Sergio E. Bernales 2018 – 2019. Crude andadjusted ORs were calculated for possible confounding factors based on logistic regression models.Considering the p <0.05 value as significant. Results: The median age was 18 years. The results ofthe adjusted logistic regression model were that the threatened preterm delivery had a significantassociation with UTI (OR = 2.68, 95% CI: 1.3–5.3) and RPM (OR = 15, 95 CI. %: 5.9–37.9). Conclusion:Urinary tract infection is a factor associated with the threatened preterm delivery in pregnant teens.Introducción: La amenaza de parto pretérmino puede causar desenlaces graves, por lo que esnecesario evaluar sus determinantes. Objetivo: Determinar si la infección del tracto urinario (ITU) esun factor asociado a amenaza de parto pretérmino en gestantes adolescentes del hospital Sergio E.Bernales 2018 – 2019. Métodos: Estudio observacional analítico de casos y controles. Conformado porgestantes adolescentes internadas en el servicio de ginecobstetricia del hospital Sergio E. Bernalesen 2018-2019. Se calcularon los OR crudos y ajustados para los posibles factores confusores en base amodelos de regresión logística. Considerándose el valor p<0,05 como significativo. Resultados: Losresultados del modelo de regresión logística ajustado mostraron que la amenaza de parto se asociósignificativamente con la ITU (OR=2,68, IC 95%: 1,3–5,3) y con la presencia de ruptura prematura demembranas (OR=15, IC 95%: 5,9–37,9). Conclusión: La infección del tracto urinario es un factor asociadoa la amenaza de parto pretérmino en gestantes adolescentes

A 3D Smith Chart based on the Riemann Sphere for Active and Passive Microwave Circuits

Using the mathematical concept of the Riemann sphere, the extended reflection coefficient plane is transformed into the surface of the unit sphere. Since the proposed Smith Chart compiles the whole complex plane, all possible loads are included. A simple graphic tool is thus obtained that successfully unifies active and passive circuits. In addition, lossy lines with complex characteristic impedances can also be represented. Desarrollo e implementación de reportes BI en Mead Johnson Nutrition para el análisis de KPI's bajo la plataforma SAP BO

Reporte de aplicación de conocimientos para obtener el grado de Ingeniero Industrial.En este trabajo de investigación se reporta la implementación de Business Intelligence (Inteligencia de negocios) o BI para atender la necesidad de las oficinas de Latinoamérica de Mead Jhonson Nutrition, pues no se contaba con reportes que mostraran fácil y rápidamente sus KPI’s (key performance indicator: indicadores clave de desarrollo), lo que obligaba a invertir tiempo por los analistas como por los consumidores de datos o tomadores de decisiones (gerencias y dirección general) para obtener la información pertinente a sus necesidades. BI es un proceso impulsado por IT (Information Technology) que comprende una gran variedad de herramientas, aplicaciones, soluciones y metodologías que permiten a las organizaciones recopilar información y datos operacionales de los sistemas internos y fuentes externas, prepararlas para el análisis y desarrollar informes o cuadros de mando, “dashboards” y visualizaciones de información compleja y competitiva, que hacen que los resultados de los procesos de ventas y finanzas sirvan para la toma de decisiones. El software SAP BO 4.1 (Systeme Anwendungen und Produkte & Business Objects) Sistemas, Aplicaciones y Productos & Objetos de Negocios, es una suite de aplicaciones de “front-end” o interfaz que permiten a los usuarios de negocio ver, clasificar y analizar datos de inteligencia de negocios, por lo que el desarrollo e implementación de reportes BI bajo ese ambiente con la metodología estándar para los proyectos de desarrollo BI de SAP (BI Methodology), resulta más provechoso, además de exitoso. El desarrollo e implementación de los reportes en SAP BO, ha repercutido en un ahorro de horas hombre para el análisis y creación de reportes, que equivale a un ahorro anual de más de 500,000 USD a nivel compañía y, dado que se impulsó la inversión del tiempo ganado en la mejora de procesos de negocio se han logrado ventajas competitivas sobre sus rivales comerciales

A search for rapidly pulsating hot subdwarf stars in the GALEX survey

NASA's Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) provided near- and far-UV observations for approximately 77 percent of the sky over a ten-year period; however, the data reduction pipeline initially only released single NUV and FUV images to the community. The recently released Python module gPhoton changes this, allowing calibrated time-series aperture photometry to be extracted easily from the raw GALEX data set. Here we use gPhoton to generate light curves for all hot subdwarf B (sdB) stars that were observed by GALEX, with the intention of identifying short-period, p-mode pulsations. We find that the spacecraft's short visit durations, uneven gaps between visits, and dither pattern make the detection of hot subdwarf pulsations difficult. Nonetheless, we detect UV variations in four previously known pulsating targets and report their UV pulsation amplitudes and frequencies. Additionally, we find that several other sdB targets not previously known to vary show promising signals in their periodograms. Using optical follow-up photometry with the Skynet Robotic Telescope Network, we confirm p-mode pulsations in one of these targets, LAMOST J082517.99+113106.3, and report it as the most recent addition to the sdBVr class of variable stars.Comment: 11 Pages, 8 Figures, Accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journa

Aplicación del principio de Legalidad en los silencios administrativos

En el presente trabajo de investigación Jurídica – dogmática, parte del siguiente problema ¿De qué manera la aplicación del principio de legalidad influye en el silencio administrativo?, teniendo como objetivo general Determinar cómo influye aplicación del principio de legalidad en el silencio administrativo. También se detalla cuáles son métodos que fueron empleado es el método científico, que son sucesos específicos y verificables de razonamiento riguroso, como método especifico, que el objeto de estudio son las normas positivas instituciones o cuerpos jurídicas, el tipo de investigación es investigación básica, y como nivel es descriptivo, con un diseño de estudio del caso. La unidad de análisis está constituida por la no contestación material mediante un acto administrativo que se encuentra en las sentencias casatorios a nivel nacional. Como diseño no experimental diseño transversal explicativo causal. Para la recolección de datos se aplicó la técnica de observación, técnica de fichaje, técnica de lectura, sobre el análisis de documentos, con sus respectivos instrumentos que básicamente es la recolección de datos de análisis documental, como son las fichas textuales y fichas de resumen

Co-Teaching: a successful factor on teacher training through collaborative practices and professional advice.

The emphasis of the present study was to design a didactic proposal to help pre-service teachers to develop their teaching skills through collaboration and guidance from expert teachers on the field of linguistics and education. This study is based on the co-teaching model that is defined as the joint work of two teachers with the same group of students sharing planning, organization, delivery as well as physical space (Bacharach, Heck & Dahlberg, 2010). Co-teaching promotes coaching and training for pre-service teachers to apply theory into practice during the different steps of teaching: co-planning, co-delivering, and co-evaluation (Conderman & Hedin, 2012). This research looked for the perceptions that pre-service teachers had about the teaching practicum as well as the roles that cooperating teachers took regarding the supervision of pre-service teachers. According to the findings pre-service teachers realized they did not collaborate with cooperating teachers during planning, delivery and evaluation of the lessons. On the other hand, cooperating teachers were aware of the need of establishing collaborative teaching roles through a formal regulation that fosters commitment between participants. The didactic proposal aims to establish a link of collaboration between pre-service teachers and cooperating teachers through a teaching practice protocol based on the co-teaching model. Pre-service teachers seek for benefits that derived from the exercise of teaching like development of teaching skills, improvement in language, development of social skills related to classrooms and acquisition of work experience. This emerging practice of co-teaching in teacher training holds great promise in transforming the process of teacher preparation and in meeting the needs of teachers from the XXI century (Suárez, 2016)

Overexpression of the X-Linked Inhibitor of Apoptosis Protein (XIAP) in Neurons Improves Cell Survival and the Functional Outcome after Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury

Mechanical trauma to the spinal cord causes extensive neuronal death, contributing to the loss of sensory-motor and autonomic functions below the injury location. Apoptosis affects neurons after spinal cord injury (SCI) and is associated with increased caspase activity. Cleavage of X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) after SCI may contribute to this rise in caspase activity. Accordingly, we have shown that the elevation of XIAP resulted in increased neuronal survival after SCI and improved functional recovery. Therefore, we hypothesise that neuronal overexpression of XIAP can be neuroprotective after SCI with improved functional recovery. In line with this, studies of a transgenic mice with overexpression of XIAP in neurons revealed that higher levels of XIAP after spinal cord trauma favours neuronal survival, tissue preservation, and motor recovery after the spinal cord trauma. Using human SH-SY5Y cells overexpressing XIAP, we further showed that XIAP reduced caspase activity and apoptotic cell death after pro-apoptotic stimuli. In conclusion, this study shows that the levels of XIAP expression are an important factor for the outcome of spinal cord trauma and identifies XIAP as an important therapeutic target for alleviating the deleterious effects of SCI
