Response to Invasion by Antigen and Effects of Threshold in an Immune Network Dynamical System Model with a Small Number of Degrees of Freedom

We study a dynamical system model of an idiotypic immune network with a small number of degrees of freedom, mainly focusing on the effect of a threshold above which antibodies can recognise antibodies. The response of the system to invasions by antigens is investigated in the both models with and without the threshold and it turns out that the system changes in a desirable direction for moderate magnitude of perturbation. direction for moderate magnitude of perturbation. Also, the propagation of disturbance by an antigen is investigated in the system of one-dimensionally connected basic units taking the closed 3-clone system as a unit, and it is clarified that the threshold of the system has effects to enhance the stability of the network and to localise the immune response.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures. IIB Supergravity and the E6(6) covariant vector-tensor hierarchy

IIB supergravity is reformulated with a manifest local USp(8) invariance that makes the embedding of five-dimensional maximal supergravities transparent. In this formulation the ten-dimensional theory exhibits all the 27 one-form fields and 22 of the 27 two-form fields that are required by the vector-tensor hierarchy of the five-dimensional theory. The missing 5 two-form fields must transform in the same representation as a descendant of the ten-dimensional `dual graviton'. The invariant E6(6) symmetric tensor that appears in the vector-tensor hierarchy is reproduced. Generalized vielbeine are derived from the supersymmetry transformations of the vector fields, as well as consistent expressions for the USp(8) covariant fermion fields. Implications are discussed for the consistency of the truncation of IIB supergravity compactified on the five-sphere to maximal gauged supergravity in five space-time dimensions with an SO(6) gauge group.Comment: 48 pages, added an extra affiliatio

Ecologías del Aprendizaje en la Educación Social: la Tecnobiografía

La expansión de los medios de comunicación y todo lo que nos permiten hacer está significando un cambio en el planteamiento de la educación actual. Las nuevas tecnologías nos están permitiendo modificar la realidad en la que vivimos haciendo que cada vez sean más las opciones de las que disponemos para trabajar la educación. Han surgido numerosas transformaciones de los espacios de aprendizaje donde la educación expandida está tomando una especial relevancia. Los aprendizajes invisibles se dan cada vez en contextos más variados y nos permiten expandir la educación yendo más allá de la educación formal sumándole el uso de las nuevas tecnologías. Within the scope of the Master's Degree in Linguistics: Societies and Cultures (2nd Cycle), the student carried out a Master's internship with a report at Ponte Editora, an online platform based in Startup Madeira, Penteada Campus. By implementing the theoretical knowledge obtained in the master's degree, the internship mainly consisted in translating and revising scientific texts. The objectives of the internship were: to contextualize and delimit the areas of activity of the company Ponte Editora and the audience to whom its services are intended; translate from English to Portuguese and Portuguese to English abstracts of scientific articles for the journal Heritage—Journal of History, Heritage and Culture; review and edit texts for the scientific journals Marine Studies and Engineering Assets; review the English version of the Ponte Editora's websites; standardize the layout of the websites of the new scientific journals to conform with the existing one of the journal Heritage. Another important activity involved translating abstracts of scientific papers to be published in the special issue of the journal Heritage. For the editorial review activity of the academic journals Marine Studies and Engineering Assets, redefining the menus of the websites, reorganizing their contents according to the journal Heritage. The internship activities included reviewing and editing the English version of the websites, comparing the texts of various magazines stored at the platform and improving the institutional website of the platform Ponte Editora. Additionally the student’s Erasmus experience will be included since it enriched her experience on the subjects already mentioned.No âmbito do Mestrado em Linguística: Sociedades e Culturas (2º Ciclo), a estudante realizou um estágio de mestrado com relatório na Ponte Editora, uma plataforma online sediada na Startup Madeira, Campus da Penteada. Implementando os conhecimentos teóricos obtidos no mestrado, o estágio consistiu essencialmente na tradução e revisão de textos científicos. Os objetivos do estágio foram: contextualizar e delimitar as áreas de atuação da empresa Ponte Editora e o público a que se destinam os seus serviços; traduzir de inglês para português e de português para inglês resumos de artigos científicos para a revista Herança-Jornal de História, Herança e Cultura; rever e editar textos para as revistas científicas de Estudos do Mar (REM) e de Ativos de Engenharia (RAE); rever a versão em inglês dos sites da Ponte Editora; uniformizar o layout dos sites das novas revistas científicas para que estejam em conformidade com o existente para a revista Herança. Outra atividade importante foi a tradução de resumos de artigos científicos a publicar no número especial da mesma revista. As atividades do estágio incluíram a revisão e edição da versão inglesa dos sites, a comparação dos textos de várias revistas armazenadas na plataforma e a melhoria do site institucional da plataforma Ponte Editora. Creative Support Musical Composition System: a study on Multiple Viewpoints Representations in Variable Markov Oracle

Em meados do século XX, assistiu-se ao surgimento de uma área de estudo focada na geração au-tomática de conteúdo musical por meios computacionais. Os primeiros exemplos concentram-se no processamento offline de dados musicais mas, recentemente, a comunidade tem vindo a explorar maioritariamente sistemas musicais interativos e em tempo-real. Além disso, uma tendência recente enfatiza a importância da tecnologia assistiva, que promove uma abordagem centrada em escolhas do utilizador, oferecendo várias sugestões para um determinado problema criativo. Nesse contexto, a minha investigação tem como objetivo promover novas ferramentas de software para sistemas de suporte criativo, onde algoritmos podem participar colaborativamente no fluxo de composição. Em maior detalhe, procuro uma ferramenta que aprenda com dados musicais de tamanho variável para fornecer feedback em tempo real durante o processo de composição. À luz das características de multi-dimensionalidade e hierarquia presentes nas estruturas musicais, pretendo estudar as representações que abstraem os seus padrões temporais, para promover a geração de múltiplas soluções ordenadas por grau de optimização para um determinado contexto musical. Por fim, a natureza subjetiva da escolha é dada ao utilizador, ao qual é fornecido um número limitado de soluções 'ideais'. Uma representação simbólica da música manifestada como Modelos sob múltiplos pontos de vista, combinada com o autómato Variable Markov Oracle (VMO), é usada para testar a interação ideal entre a multi-dimensionalidade da representação e a idealidade do modelo VMO, fornecendo soluções coerentes, inovadoras e estilisticamente diversas. Para avaliar o sistema, foram realizados testes para validar a ferramenta num cenário especializado com alunos de composição, usando o modelo de testes do índice de suporte à criatividade.The mid-20th century witnessed the emergence of an area of study that focused on the automatic generation of musical content by computational means. Early examples focus on offline processing of musical data and recently, the community has moved towards interactive online musical systems. Furthermore, a recent trend stresses the importance of assistive technology, which pro-motes a user-in-loop approach by offering multiple suggestions to a given creative problem. In this context, my research aims to foster new software tools for creative support systems, where algorithms can collaboratively participate in the composition flow. In greater detail, I seek a tool that learns from variable-length musical data to provide real-time feedback during the composition process. In light of the multidimensional and hierarchical structure of music, I aim to study the representations which abstract its temporal patterns, to foster the generation of multiple ranked solutions to a given musical context. Ultimately, the subjective nature of the choice is given to the user to which a limited number of 'optimal' solutions are provided. A symbolic music representation manifested as Multiple Viewpoint Models combined with the Variable Markov Oracle (VMO) automaton, are used to test optimal interaction between the multi-dimensionality of the representation with the optimality of the VMO model in providing both style-coherent, novel, and diverse solutions. Entre cielo y tierra : la ligazón y el abismo en el Convivio

This article goes through the main ideas in Dante’s Convivio interpreting them as a sample of a historical desacralization crisis caused by the spreading of the commercial production mode, which translates into an intellectual crisis where the author tries to reformulate the link binding Heaven with Earth, meaning the matrix itself of feudal sacralised ideological unconsciousness. To do so, Dante goes through the process of creation-generation of the World, on the one hand; and the process of knowledge, taking mankind to heavenly Wisdom. In doing this, Dante unsuccessfully attempts to create a ‘civil sacralisation’ or a ‘commercial sacralisation’. Without this, in any case, he wouldn’t have been able to later write the Commedia.Este artículo repasa las ideas principales del Convivio de Dante interpretándolas como muestra de una crisis histórica de desacralización provocada por la difusión del modo de producción mercantil, que se traduce en una crisis intelectual en la que el autor trata de reformular el vínculo que une al Cielo y la Tierra, es decir, la matriz misma del inconsciente ideológico sacralizado feudal. Para ello, Dante recorre el proceso de creación-generación del mundo, por una parte, y el proceso de conocimiento que remonta al ser humano hasta la Sabiduría celeste.
