    La presente investigación documenta la realización de una auditoría de calidad realizada a la biblioteca de una Institución de Educación Superior. Siendo que es importante conocer el nivel de satisfacción, expectativas de los usuarios a fin de incrementar la calidad en el servicio. El objetivo del estudio es realizar una auditoría de calidad en el servicio a Biblioteca Santiago Velasco Ruiz, de la Facultad de Contaduría y Administración de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México. Se empleó como instrumento de medición el LibQual creada por la Asociación de Investigación de los Estado Unidos, para definir el tamaño de la muestra se tomó en cuenta la sugerencia de Bartlett, Kotrlik y Higgins (2001), quienes proponen que para calcular el tamaño de la muestra requerido en una investigación donde se utiliza una encuesta con escala Likert debe hacerse uso de la fórmula de datos continuos de Cochran

    Optimizing vitiligo treatment: examining the role of narrow-band ultraviolet B phototherapy

    Vitiligo is a common autoimmune-pigment disorder associated with skin depigmentation. Narrow-band ultraviolet B phototherapy (NB-UVB) has become an effective treatment option for this disease, resulting in significant pigmentation in patients, especially those with facial lesions and dark skin tones. However, the best treatment plan is still under discussion, and more research is needed to assess long-term safety, including the risk of skin cancer. In addition, alternative options such as current immunomodulators and herbal therapies are promising but need further studies. This study reviewed the existing literature on NB-UVB phototherapy's efficacy and safety profile for treating vitiligo. The study focused on factors affecting the treatment response and the potential benefits of combining NB-UVB with other treatments. NB-UVB phototherapy is safe and effectively reduces depigmentation in vitiligo patients. Factors such as disease duration, skin type, and scope of vitiligo lesions may influence treatment results. Using NB-UVB with other treatments can increase results. Although UVB NB phototherapy is a safe and effective option for vitiligo treatment, more research is needed to optimize its use and improve treatment outcomes, especially in different patient groups

    How Big Can Anomalous W Couplings Be?

    Conventional wisdom has it that anomalous gauge-boson self-couplings can be at most a percent or so in size. We test this wisdom by computing these couplings at one loop in a generic renormalizable model of new physics. (For technical reasons we consider the CP-violating couplings here, but our results apply more generally.) By surveying the parameter space we find that the largest couplings (several percent) are obtained when the new particles are at the weak scale. For heavy new physics we compare our findings with expectations based on an effective-lagrangian analysis. We find general patterns of induced couplings which robustly reflect the nature of the underlying physics.     El hepatocarcinoma (HCC) sobre hígado ectópico es una entidad rara. La mayoría de los casos son asintomáticos y se descubren de manera casual en una autopsia o laparoscopia. En ocasiones producen clínica como dolor abdominal o hemorragia intraabdominal. Se realiza revisión de la literatura y se presenta el caso de una mujer de 68 años diagnosticada de hepatocarcinoma sobre hígado ectópico peritoneal a raíz de un estudio por hipertransaminasemia leve asintomática. Ectopic hepatocellular carcinoma is a rare entity. Most cases are asymptomatic and are occasionally found during autopsy or laparoscopy. They may sometimes cause relevant clinical problems such as abdominal pain or intra-abdominal bleeding. In this clinical case report, we review the literature in order to decipher the case of a 68-year-old female with an ectopic hepatocellular carcinoma that arose from the peritoneum.     Effects of different doses of Salix babylonica extract on growth performance and diet in vitro gas production in Pelibuey growing lambs

    Twenty Pelibuey 3-4 month old and 23.7±3.3 kg body weight male lambs were used in a randomised design to study the effects of daily oral administration of Salix babylonica (SB) extract on dry matter (DM), water intake, average daily gain (ADG), and feed efficiency for 72 days. Animals were divided into four groups fed the same total mixed ration with different doses of SB: 0 (Control), 20 (SB20), 40 (SB40) and 60 (SB60) mL/lamb/d. In vitro gas production (GP) of the same diet fed to lambs as a substrate was measured with different doses of SB (0, 0.3, 0.7, 1.0 mL/g DM). Daily administration of SB to lambs had no effects (P=0.05) on growth performance and DMI (linear effect, P=0.2805; quadratic effect, P=0.3747). Both low and moderate doses of SB (SB40>SB20) tended to increase (linear effect, P=0.4010; quadratic effect, P=0.9166) ADG. The asymptotic GP quadratically increased (PSB20) tended to increase (linear effect, P=0.4010; quadratic effect, P=0.9166) ADG. The asymptotic GP quadratically increased (PSB20) tended to increase (linear effect, P=0.4010; quadratic effect, P=0.9166) ADG. The asymptotic GP quadratically increased (P<0.001) with decreased GP rate and with increasing SB extract doses. In vitro GP increased (P<0.05) with advancing of incubation time in all SB doses. During the first 24 h of incubation, 0.3 mL SB/g DM had the highest GP, whereas 1.0 mL SB/g DM quadratically increased (P<0.001) GP. The low dose of SB extract increased ME (linear effect, P=0.024) and short chain fatty acids (SCFA) (linear effect, P=0.023). However, the highest dose quadratically decreased (P=0.02) DM degradability. In conclusion, administration of SB extract at 40 mL/lamb/d tended to increase DM intake, improve daily weight gain in growing lambs with increasing asymptotic in vitro ruminal GP and SB dose

    SSDSS IV MaNGA - Properties of AGN host galaxies

    We present here the characterization of the main properties of a sample of 98 AGN host galaxies, both type-II and type-I, in comparison with those of about 2700 non-active galaxies observed by the MaNGA survey. We found that AGN hosts are morphologically early-type or early-spirals. For a given morphology AGN hosts are, in average, more massive, more compact, more central peaked and rather pressurethan rotational-supported systems. We confirm previous results indicating that AGN hosts are located in the intermediate/transition region between star-forming and non-star-forming galaxies (i.e., the so-called green valley), both in the ColorMagnitude and the star formation main sequence diagrams. Taking into account their relative distribution in terms of the stellar metallicity and oxygen gas abundance and a rough estimation of their molecular gas content, we consider that these galaxies are in the process of halting/quenching the star formation, in an actual transition between both groups. The analysis of the radial distributions of the starformation rate, specific star-formation rate, and molecular gas density shows that the quenching happens from inside-out involving both a decrease of the efficiency of the star formation and a deficit of molecular gas.     We study problems that arise in the context of covering certain geometric objects (so-called seeds, e.g., points or disks) by a set of other geometric objects (a so-called cover, e.g., a set of disks or homothetic triangles). We insist that the interiors of the seeds and the cover elements are pair wise disjoint, but they can touch. We call the contact graph of a cover a cover contact graph (CCG). We are interested in two types of tasks: (a) deciding whether a given seed set has a connected CCG, and (b) deciding whether a given graph has a realization as a CCG on a given seed set. Concerning task (a) we give efficient algorithms for the case that seeds are points and covers are disks or triangles. We show that the problem becomes NP-hard if seeds and covers are disks. Concerning task (b) we show that it is even NP-hard for point seeds and disk covers (given a fixed correspondence between vertices and seeds)

    Diverse Bacterial PKS Sequences Derived From Okadaic Acid-Producing Dinoflagellates

    Okadaic acid (OA) and the related dinophysistoxins are isolated from dinoflagellates of the genus Prorocentrum and Dinophysis. Bacteria of the Roseobacter group have been associated with okadaic acid producing dinoflagellates and have been previously implicated in OA production. Analysis of 16S rRNA libraries reveals that Roseobacter are the most abundant bacteria associated with OA producing dinoflagellates of the genus Prorocentrum and are not found in association with non-toxic dinoflagellates. While some polyketide synthase (PKS) genes form a highly supported Prorocentrum clade, most appear to be bacterial, but unrelated to Roseobacter or Alpha-Proteobacterial PKSs or those derived from other Alveolates Karenia brevis or Crytosporidium parvum

    Participation of Actin on Giardia lamblia Growth and Encystation

    BACKGROUND:Microfilaments play a determinant role in different cell processes such as: motility, cell division, phagocytosis and intracellular transport; however, these structures are poorly understood in the parasite Giardia lamblia. METHODOLOGY AND PRINCIPAL FINDINGS:By confocal microscopy using TRITC-phalloidin, we found structured actin distributed in the entire trophozoite, the label stand out at the ventral disc, median body, flagella and around the nuclei. During Giardia encystation, a sequence of morphological changes concurrent to modifications on the distribution of structured actin and in the expression of actin mRNA were observed. To elucidate whether actin participates actively on growth and encystation, cells were treated with Cytochalasin D, Latrunculin A and Jasplakinolide and analyzed by confocal and scanning electron microscopy. All drugs caused a growth reduction (27 to 45%) and changes on the distribution of actin. Besides, 60 to 80% of trophozoites treated with the drugs, exhibited damage at the caudal region, alterations in the flagella and wrinkles-like on the plasma membrane. The drugs also altered the cyst-yield and the morphology, scanning electron microscopy revealed diminished cytokinesis, cysts with damages in the wall and alterations in the size and on the intermembranal space. Furthermore, the drugs caused a significant reduction of the intensity of fluorescence-labeled CWP1 on ESV and on cyst wall, this was coincident with a reduction of CWP1 gene expression (34%). CONCLUSIONS AND SIGNIFICANCE:All our results, indicated an important role of actin in the morphology, growth and encystation and indirectly suggested an actin role in gene expression
