    Kenyataan menunjukkan pembelajaran IPA masih berfokus pada buku teks dan jarang menggunakan model pembelajaran yang bervariatif sehingga kreativitas dan penguasaan konsep siswa menjadi terbatas. Tujuan penelitian penerapan model PBL untuk meningkatkan penguasaan konsep peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kuasi eksperimen. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SD Swasta Kartika Siliwangi XIX-3 Kabupaten Garut, sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V yang berjumlah 66 siswa yang terdiri dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol berjumlah 33 siswa. Analisis penelitian menggunakan N-Gain dan pengujian hipotesis rumus t-test dengan menggunanakan software SPSS 17. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis proyek dapat meningkatkan kreativitas siswa lebih tinggi secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan kelas ekspositori dengan perbandingan di kelas eksperimen N-Gain 0,472 kategori sedang dan kelas kontrol N-Gain 0,223 kategori rendah.Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan hasil uji hipotesis dengan menggunakan t-test hasinya dengan nilai sig 0.009< α yaitu 0,025 artinya ditolak maka terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif antara kelas kontrol dengan kelas eksperimen

    This study aims to determine the fine motor skills of children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten Heaven Kid's subdistrict Handsome Pekanbaru City before the game playdough, To determine the fine motor skills of children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten Heaven Kid's subdistrict Handsome Pekanbaru City after done playdough game, to determine whether there is influence playdough game against the fine motor skills of children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten Heaven kid's Handsome District of Pekanbaru city, to determine how much influence the game playdough fine motor skills of children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten Heaven kid's subdistrict handsome Pekanbaru. Samples were all children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten Heaven Kid's Pekanbaru as many as 17 children. Data collection technique used observation sheet that contains fine motor skills of children. Based on the results of this study concluded prior to the treatment given are in the low category 10 children or 58.8% in the moderate category 7 children, or 41.2%, and there are no children in the high category. It can be seen that after treatment (treatment), fine motor skills of children has increased that there are children who are in the high category as many as 12 children, or 70.59%, and there are children who are in the moderate category 5 children or 29.41% and there are children in the category of low or 0%. This shows that there is influence of playdough game against the fine motor skills

    In vitro method to evaluate virus competition between BVDV-1 and BVDV-2 strains using the PrimeFlow RNA assay

    Bovine viral diarrhea viruses (BVDV), segregated in BVDV-1 and BVDV-2 species, lead to substantial economic losses to the cattle industry worldwide. It has been hypothesized that there could be differences in level of replication, pathogenesis and tissue tropism between BVDV-1 and BVDV-2 strains. Thus, this study developed an in vitro method to evaluate virus competition between BVDV-1 and BVDV-2 strains. To this end the competitive dynamics of BVDV-1a, BVDV-1b, and BVDV-2a strains in cell cultures was evaluated by a PrimeFlow RNA assay. Similar results were observed in this study, as was observed in an earlier in vivo transmission study. Competitive exclusion was observed as the BVDV-2a strains dominated and excluded the BVDV-1a and BVDV-1b strains. The in vitro model developed can be used to identify viral variations that result in differences in frequency of subgenotypes detected in the field, vaccine failure, pathogenesis, and strain dependent variation in immune responses

    Multivariate analysis reveals that BVDV field isolates do not show a close VN-based antigenic relationship to US vaccine strains

    Objective Evaluate bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) antigenicity by using virus neutralization titers (VNT) analyzed using the principal component analysis (PCA) from antisera generated against US-based vaccine strains against both US-origin field isolates and non-US-origin field isolates. Results Data from both independent analyses demonstrated that several US-origin and non-US-origin BVDV field isolates appear to be antigenically divergent from the US-based vaccine strains. Results from the combined analysis provided greater insight into the antigenic diversity observed among BVDV isolates. Data from this study further support genetic assignment into BVDV subgenotypes, as well as strains within subgenotypes is not representative of antigenic relatedness. PCA highlights isolates that are antigenically divergent from members of the same species and subgenotype and conversely isolates that belong to different subgenotypes have similar antigenic characteristics when using antisera from US-based vaccine isolates

    Integrated Open Loop Resonator Filter Designed with Notch Patch Antenna for Microwave Applications

    This paper presented the design of integrated open loop resonator bandpass filter with notch type antenna for the use in microwave applications. Chebyshev type filter is selected as the filter characteristics and cascaded design with the antenna to produce a single module, Integrated Filter Antenna (IFA). Special feature of the antenna is the implementation of notch on the patch antenna to improve the efficiency. IFA is then simulated in electromagnetic simulation tool, Agilent Advance Design System (ADS) version 2016 and measured using R&amp;S Vector Network Analyzer. It shows that the proposed IFA produced good measured return loss &gt;-30dB with both vertical and horizontal gain of 9.11dBi and 8.01dBi respectively

    Estuary and sea-associated wetlands as final sink for organic pollutants: a case study in Sabah, Malaysia

    Estuaries and sea-associated wetlands are the final destination for organic pollutants due to their chemical and physical properties. The current research studied Parai River and estuary adjacent to the southern South China Sea in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Six samples of surface sediment were taken during January 2012. The samples (top 3 cm) were extracted by Soxhlet using Dichloromethane, subjected to 2 steps of column chromatography for clean-up and fractionation followed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. The results indicated that the highest concentration of alkane in a full range of even and odd carbon numbers is dominant in the estuary and sea-associated wetland. Estuaries receive the highest level of suspended materials due to continuous interaction between marine saline and riverine fresh water. The high amount of Unresolved Complex Mixture (UCM) indicated an incomplete cycle of degradation and decomposition. Terrestrial input was the most dominant natural entry to the study area where C31/C19 ratio was employed.     Daily Energy Intake from Meals and Afternoon Snacks: Findings from the Malaysian Adults Nutrition Survey(MANS)

    Meal and snack patterns are associated with energy and nutrient intakes and consequently health and nutritional status. The aim of this paper is to describe the percentage of daily energy intake from meals and afternoon snack among Malaysian adults. The study included a representative sample of adults aged 18- 59 years (n=7349) from a nationwide Food Consumption Survey conducted by the Ministry of Health. Information on dietary intake was obtained using a one day 24-hour diet recall (24-HDR). Dietary data on 6886 adults were analysed using Nutritionist ProTM and statistical analysis was carried out using the SPSS 13.0. The median percentage of daily energy intake is reported only for adults consuming meals and afternoon tea and by socio-demographic characteristics as well as body mass index (BMI) status. More than 80% of Malaysian adults consumed morning meals, lunch and dinner and 54% reported having afternoon tea. The median percentage of energy intake from morning meals, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea was 29.9%, 30.5%, 32.4% and 17%, respectively. There were variations in the median percentage of energy from meals and snacks according to the socio-demographic variables and BMI status. It is important to understand the eating patterns of Malaysians as the information can assist in efforts to address obesity and diet-related chronic diseases among adults

    A scalar invariant and the local geometry of a class of static spacetimes

    The scalar invariant, I, constructed from the "square" of the first covariant derivative of the curvature tensor is used to probe the local geometry of static spacetimes which are also Einstein spaces. We obtain an explicit form of this invariant, exploiting the local warp-product structure of a 4-dimensional static spacetime,  (3)Σ×fR~^{(3)}\Sigma \times_{f} \reals, where (3)Σ^{(3)}\Sigma is the Riemannian hypersurface orthogonal to a timelike Killing vector field with norm given by a positive function, ff on (3)Σ^{(3)}\Sigma . For a static spacetime which is an Einstein space, it is shown that the locally measurable scalar, I, contains a term which vanishes if and only if (3)Σ^{(3)}\Sigma is conformally flat; also, the vanishing of this term implies (a)  (3)Σ~^{(3)}\Sigma is locally foliated by level surfaces of ff, (2)S^{(2)}S, which are totally umbilic spaces of constant curvature, and (b) (3)Σ^{(3)}\Sigma is locally a warp-product space.     Review on Carbon Dioxide Utilization for Cycloaddition of Epoxides by Ionic Liquid-Modified Hybrid Catalysts: Effect of Influential Parameters and Mechanisms Insight

    The storage, utilization, and control of the greenhouse (CO2) gas is a topic of interest for researchers in academia and society. The present review article is dedicating to cover the overall role of ionic liquid-modified hybrid materials in cycloaddition reactions. Special emphasis is on the synthesis of various cyclic carbonate using ionic liquid-based modified catalysts. Catalytic activity studies have discussed with respect to process conditions and their effects on conversion and product selectivity for the reaction of cycloaddition of CO2 with styrene oxide. The reaction temperature and the partial pressure of CO2 have found to play a key role in cyclic carbonate formation. The role of other influential parameter (solvent effect) is also discussed for the conversion of cyclic/aromatic oxides to polycarbonate production. Our own research work that deals with ionic liquid-based halide-modified mesoporous catalyst (MCM-41 type) derived from rice husk waste has also been discussed. Finally, the role of carbon dioxide activation and ring-opening mechanisms involved in the cyclic carbonate product formation from CO2 have been discussed

    Energy and nutrient intakes: findings from the Malaysian Adult Nutrition Survey (MANS)

    Nutrition surveys based on a representative sample of the Malaysian adult population have hitherto not been reported. In 2003, the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, conducted the Malaysian Adult Nutrition Survey (MANS), the first and largest nutrition survey in the country which aimed to provide detailed quantitative information on nutritional status, food and nutrient intakes, and physical activity pattern on a nationwide representative sample of adult subjects between the ages of 18 and 59 years. The survey covered four zones in Peninsular Malaysia (Central, Southern, Northern and East Coast), Sabah and Sarawak. This paper presents the mean and selected percentiles of energy and nutrient intake of 6886 subjects by selected demographic and socioeconomic characteristics. Energy contributions by macronutrients and dietary adequacy in relation to the Recommended Nutrient Intake for Malaysians are also described. Information on dietary intake was collected by trained nutritionists using a one day 24-hour diet recall. Dietary data were analysed using Nutritionist Pro, a diet analysis software and statistical analysis was carried out using the SPSS ver. 13.0. In most of the demographic and socioeconomic groups, males had higher mean energy (1776 kcal) and nutrient intake and percent achievement of RNI than females (1447 kcal). The proportions of calories derived from macronutrients were within the recommendations for a healthy diet. Intake of micronutrients such as iron, calcium and vitamin A was about 50% of RNI particularly in women. Sodium intake of Malaysians, not reported in earlier studies, is also made available. Under-reporting using the EI/BMR ratio was found in half of the population studied. The present study provides the first national estimates of energy and nutrient intake of the Malaysian adult population. Regular nutrition surveys are needed at the national level to provide valuable information on trends in food and nutrient intake, particularly among age and ethnically diverse subgroups of the population
