El futuro de la "flor europea": la nueva etiqueta ecológica de la UE

La ecoetiqueta de la Unión Europea es un sistema voluntario de calificación ambiental que se introdujo en 1992. Sin embargo, resulta todavía desconocido para una gran mayoría de consumidores europeos. Por ello, se ha llevado a cabo un proceso de revisión del sistema que culmina con el nuevo Reglamento (CE)  nº 66/2010, cuyo contenido es analizado en la presente nota

Aproximación a las relaciones intracomunitarias de los pescadores bermeanos a mediados del siglo XIX.

Gracias a dos conflictos socioeconómicos -la competitiva importación de pescado foráneo para las conserveras y el nuevo gravamen sobre el alcohol para financiar el "Culto y Clero" -, se observa la vigencia de la cohesión tradicional entre las familias de pescadores de Bermeo, pese a la creciente penetración del liberalismo capitalista en el sector: endogamia, parentesco, vecindad, fiesta reivindicativa, y respeto a la estratificada pero protectora Cofradía, pues vehiculaba una protesta basada en la equidad popular.Bi gatazka sozioekonomikoei esker -kontserbatzaileek eragindako kanpoko arrainen inportazio konkurrentea, eta "Kultu eta Apezteria" gastuak ordaintzeko alkoholari ezarritako zerga berria-, sektorearen gero eta sakonago liberalismo kapitalista sartu arren, Bermioko senitarte arrantzaleetan ohizko kohesioa indarrean zegoela aztertu dugu: barnezkontza, senidetasuna, hauzatasuna, jai berreskatzaileaeta estratifikatua baina babeslea zen Kofradiarekiko errespetua, herri egokitasunatan oinarrituta zegoen protestari abots ematen ziolako.Grâce à deux conflits socioéconomiques -la concurrente importation du poisson extérieur pour les conserveries, et le nouvel impôt sur l'alcool pour payer les frais du "Culte et Clergé"-, on observe que, malgré la croissante pénétration du liberalisme capitaliste au secteur, la cohésion traditionnelle était éncore en vigeur parmi les familles de pêcheurs de Bermeo: endogamie, parenté, voisinage, fête revendicativeainsi que le respect envers la Confrérie de Pêcheurs, protectrice bien que stratifiée, car elle véhiculait une protestation basée sur l'équité populaire.Thanks to two socioeconomic conflicts -the competitive importation of foreign fish for the canning industry, and the new alcohol tax in order to finance the "Worship and Clergy" expenses-, it can be observed, that traditional cohesion between fishermen's families was still valid in Bermeo, despite the growing penetration of the capitalistic liberalism in this sector: inbreeding, kinship, neighbourhood, claiming rejoicingsand respect for the stratified but protective Fishermen's Association, which transmitted a popular equity-based protes

La medición de la desigualdad a través de un modelo de elección intertemporal

Este trabajo considera el uso de información individual de consumo para analizar la desigualdad en renta. Dada la presumible asociación entre desigualdad y el nivel de la renta permanente y los problemas asociados a su identificación con datos individuales de ingreso, los datos microeconómicos de consumo se constituyen en una alternativa muy válida para analizar la desigualdad y los cambios en el bienestar. De acuerdo con el modelo de la renta permanente es posible identificar las varianzas permanente y transitoria de la renta a partir de información microeconómica de ambas variables. Este trabajo constituye un ejemplo de aplicación de esta metodología con la Encuesta Continua de Presupuestos Familiares (ECPF), con el objetivo de analizar la desigualdad en España entre 1985 y 1995. Los resultados indican que, a diferencia de lo que ocurre en otras economías, la desigualdad se ha reducido globalmente en España a lo largo de este período. A Probability Approach to the Study on Uncertainty Effects on Gamma Index Evaluations in Radiation Therapy

Two datasets of points of known spatial positions and an associated absorbed dose value are often compared for quality assurance purposes in External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT). Some problems usually arise regarding the pass fail criterion to accept both datasets as close enough for practical purposes. Instances of this kind of comparisons are fluence or dose checks for intensity modulated radiation therapy, modelling of a treatment unit in a treatment planning system, and so forth. The gamma index is a figure of merit that can be obtained from both datasets; it is widely used, as well as other indices, as part of a comparison procedure. However, it is recognized that false negatives may take place (there are acceptable cases where a certain number of points do not pass the test) due in part to computation and experimental uncertainty. This work utilizes mathematical methods to analyse comparisons, so that uncertainty can be taken into account. Therefore, false rejections due to uncertainty do not take place and there is no need to expand tolerances to take uncertainty into account. The methods provided are based on the rules of uncertainty propagation and help obtain rigorous pass/fail criteria, based on experimental information

Human capital and the intertemporal substitution for leisure : empirical evidence for Spain

In this paper we provide the first estimate of the intertemporal substitution for leisure in Spain, accounting for the impact of human capital accumulation. This would allow uncovering whether the intertemporal labour supply of Spanish workers is affected by human capital. Our empirical strategy consists of estimating the equation for the intertemporal substitution of leisure with and without accounting for human capital, what allows to detect hypothetical estimation biases associated to omitting the impact of human capital. To that end, we build a pseudo-panel data set combining the Spanish Family Expenditure Survey and the Labour Survey over the period 1987–1997. While the model that ignores human capital accumulation provides an estimate of the intertemporal elasticity of substitution for leisure about 0.25, comparable to previously available estimates for Spain and other economies, the model with human capital provides an estimate about 0.5, what confirms the existence of a bias in the former estimates.
