    Divergent trophic responses to biogeographic and environmental gradients

    Following environmental changes, communities disassemble and reassemble in seemingly unpredictable ways. Whether species respond to such changes individualistically or collectively (e.g. as functional groups) is still unclear. To address this question, we used an extensive new dataset for the lake communities in the Azores' archipelago to test whether: 1) individual species respond concordantly within trophic groups; 2) trophic groups respond concordantly to biogeographic and environmental gradients. Spatial concordance in individual species distributions within trophic groups was always greater than expected by chance. In contrast, trophic groups varied non-concordantly along biogeographic and environmental gradients revealing idiosyncratic responses to them. Whether communities respond individualistically to environmental gradients thus depends on the functional resolution of the data. Our study challenges the view that modelling environmental change effects on biodiversity always requires an individualist approach. Instead, it finds support for the longstanding idea that communities might be modelled as a cohort if the functional resolution is appropriate

    The general objective was to demonstrate the influence of school management in improving the significant learning of History, Geography and Economics in students of the 5th "A" of the San Juan Educational Institution. Quantitative approach, applied type, explanatory level and quasi-experimental design. The non-probabilistic sample was made up of 62 5th grade students (31 experimental group and 31 control group); to collect data, the observation sheet (school management) and the checklist (significant learning) were used. The results were shown, descriptively, in tables and summary measures; to find the hypothesis the Wilcoxon range and for the Whitney U Mann contrast test. The results indicate that the control group does not suffer level variation in the pre and posttest; the experimental group rises to the "High" level by 18.1 points, in the post test. In the hypothesis test, the alternate hypothesis is accepted, concluding that school management improves significant learning in students of the experimental group. In the inference with Whitney's U Mann, an exact unilateral meaning less than significance is obtained, determining that there is a substantial difference between the control and experimental groups in significant learning.El objetivo general, fue demostrar la influencia de la gestión escolar en mejorar el aprendizaje significativo de Historia, Geografía y Economía en estudiantes del 5° “A” de la Institución Educativa San Juan. Enfoque cuantitativo, tipo aplicada, nivel explicativo y diseño cuasi experimental. La muestra no probabilística fue de 62 discentes del 5° (31 grupo experimental y 31 grupo control); para acopiar datos se emplearon la ficha de observación (gestión escolar) y la lista de cotejo (aprendizaje significativo). Los resultados se mostraron, descriptivamente, en tablas y medidas de resumen; para hallar la hipótesis el rango de Wilcoxon y para la prueba de contraste U Mann de Whitney. Los resultados señalan que el grupo de control no sufre variación de nivel en el pre y post test; el grupo experimental asciende al nivel “Alto” en 18,1 puntos, en la post prueba. En la prueba de hipótesis se acepta la hipótesis alterna, concluyendo que la gestión escolar mejora el aprendizaje significativo en estudiantes del grupo experimental. En la inferencia con U Mann de Whitney se obtiene un significado exacto unilateral menor a la significancia, determinando que hay diferencia sustancial entre el grupo control y experimental en el aprendizaje significativo.  &nbsp

    The research relates the work skills through study habits, which accounts for the role of analyzing how they relate and communicate space from the study techniques in ninth grade students of a rural educational institution, in order to establish a process of improvement in the didactics of teaching, focused on educational quality parameters, this was done through a study with quantitative approach, with descriptive and correlational scope, non-experimental design of transectional or cross-sectional type, the sample consisted of 36 students between 13 and 16 years of age. Two instruments were applied, the first was the Primary Mental Aptitudes Questionnaire "PMA" (Thurstone & Thurstone, 2007) and the second was the Habits and Study Techniques Questionnaire "CHTE" (Álvarez & Fernández, 2015), in addition to the information of school academic performance of the first period of the 2019 school cycle, the values delivered strengthen the role of reasoning with the factors of verbal comprehension, spatial conception and numerical calculation, as well as the relationship between academic performance and spatial conception, and the relationships between different aspects of study habits

    Development of The Viking Speech Scale to Classify the Speech of Children with Cerebral Palsy

    Surveillance registers monitor the prevalence of cerebral palsy and the severity of resulting impairments across time and place. The motor disorders of cerebral palsy can affect children’s speech production and limit their intelligibility. We describe the development of a scale to classify children’s speech performance for use in cerebral palsy surveillance registers, and its reliability across raters and across time. Speech and language therapists, other healthcare professionals and parents classified the speech of 139 children with cerebral palsy (85 boys, 54 girls; mean age 6.03 years, SD 1.09) from observation and previous knowledge of the children. Another group of health professionals rated children’s speech from information in their medical notes. With the exception of parents, raters reclassified children’s speech at least four weeks after their initial classification. Raters were asked to rate how easy the scale was to use and how well the scale described the child’s speech production using Likert scales. Inter-rater reliability was moderate to substantial (k > .58 for all comparisons). Test–retest reliability was substantial to almost perfect for all groups (k > .68). Over 74% of raters found the scale easy or very easy to use; 66% of parents and over 70% of health care professionals judged the scale to describe children’s speech well or very well. We conclude that the Viking Speech Scale is a reliable tool to describe the speech performance of children with cerebral palsy, which can be applied through direct observation of children or through case note review

    A inclusão de egressos do Sistema Prisional no mercado formal de trabalho: uma leitura da experiência mineira

    No presente trabalho, busca-se desenvolver uma análise sobre a inclusão de egressos do sistema prisional no mercado formal de trabalho, a partir da experiência de Minas Gerais na execução do Projeto Regresso. O Projeto Regresso visa à inclusão do egresso do sistema prisional no mercado formal de trabalho. Tal estudo procura compreender entraves e desafios dessa inclusão social a partir da pesquisa bibliográfica, análise teórica e da perspectiva histórica sobre o trabalho e os direitos previstos na Lei de Execução Penal, Constituição Federal, Consolidação das Leis Trabalhista e Legislações Estaduais. Em seguida, verificam-se alguns efeitos da exclusão social de egressos do sistema prisional, os quais perpassam uma linha tênue entre a punição, os objetivos da pena e os direitos garantidos aos egressos do sistema prisional. Fatores esses que se apresentam no contexto capitalista e globalizado, no qual interage a lógica de uma sociedade capitalista e a observância da cidadania e dignidade do egresso do sistema prisional em sua condição de sujeito titular de direitos. FORMER INMATES AND INCLUSION IN FORMAL PRISON LABOR MARKET: A READING EXPERIENCE OF MINAS GERAIS ABSTRACT In this paper, we seek to develop an analysis of the inclusion of former convicts in the formal labor market, from Minas Gerais experience in the implementation of Projeto Regresso. The project aims help former inmates in inclusion in the formal labor market. This study seeks to understand obstacles and challenges that social inclusion from the literature, theoretical analysis and historical perspective on work and the rights provided for in the Penal Execution Law, the Constitution, Consolidation of Labor Laws and State Laws. Then, there are some effects of social exclusion of former convicts, which run through a fine line between punishment, the objectives of punishment and the rights guaranteed to former convicts. These factors are presented in the capitalist and globalized context in which interacts logic of a capitalist society and the observance of citizenship and dignity of graduates of the prison system as a condition subject right holder.     El uso de Herramientas Tecnológicas para Incentivar las Prácticas Deportivas en las Instituciones Educativas Durante la Emergencia Sanitaria

     Sport practices in educational institutions must be done permanently during the school life, due to their numerous benefits, since they help to keep good physical, mental and spiritual health.  After the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, due to global confinement, this caused the daily life of humanity  change, among those activities was education in which the formal school moved to homes to become a virtual education.  With this fact,  the educational system was transformed, forcing teachers, parents and students to resort to technological resources that allow them to keep on with the academic training for people. This also generated some problems such as sedentary lifestyle and stress caused by the very nature of the confinement to which we saw ourselves in danger.  That is why this proposal contributes to the lives of our students by promoting sports practices within the home and that, in turn, together with the parents, the problems generated by confinement are reduced.  The primary objective of our work was to implement sports practices in the seventh year students of the “Leopoldo Nicolás Chávez” Basic Education School of the Pedro Moncayo Canton, Pichincha Province as a source of study, with the purpose not of training elite athletes, but rather with the purpose of recreation and fun in which daily sports practice becomes a healthy habit.Las prácticas deportivas en las instituciones educativas deben ser realizadas de manera permanente durante el transcurso de la vida escolar, debido a sus numerosos beneficios, puesto que estas aportan a mantener una buena salud física, mental y espiritual, tras la llegada de la pandemia COVID-19, debido al confinamiento mundial, esto causó que la cotidianidad de la humanidad cambie, entre esas actividades fue la educación en la que la escuela formal se trasladó a los hogares para convertirse en una educación virtual. Con ello el sistema educativo se transformó orillando a que docentes, padres de familia y estudiantes recurran a recursos tecnológicos que permitan continuar con la formación académica de las personas, esto también generó algunos problemas como el sedentarismo y el stress causado por la propia naturaleza del encierro al que nos vimos avocados. Es por ello que esta propuesta aporta a la vida de nuestros estudiantes fomentando las prácticas deportivas dentro del hogar y que a su vez en conjunto con los padres de familia se logre disminuir los problemas generados por el encierro. El objetivo primordial de nuestro trabajo fue implementar las prácticas deportivas en los estudiantes de Séptimo Año de la Escuela de Educación Básica “Leopoldo Nicolás Chávez” del Cantón Pedro Moncayo Provincia Pichincha como fuente de estudio, con la finalidad no de formar deportistas de élite, sino más bien con el propósito de recreación y diversión en que la práctica deportiva diaria se convierta en un hábito saludable

    We determine the nature of the magnetic quantum critical point in the doped LaFeAsO using a set of constrained density functional calculations that provide ab initio coefficients for a Landau order parameter analysis. The system turns out to be remarkably close to a quantum tricritical point, where the nature of the phase transition changes from first to second order.     Sensory Electrical Stimulation Improves Foot Placement during Targeted Stepping Post-Stroke

    Proper foot placement is vital for maintaining balance during walking, requiring the integration of multiple sensory signals with motor commands. Disruption of brain structures post-stroke likely alters the processing of sensory information by motor centers, interfering with precision control of foot placement and walking function for stroke survivors. In this study, we examined whether somatosensory stimulation, which improves functional movements of the paretic hand, could be used to improve foot placement of the paretic limb. Foot placement was evaluated before, during, and after application of somatosensory electrical stimulation to the paretic foot during a targeted stepping task. Starting from standing, twelve chronic stroke participants initiated movement with the non-paretic limb and stepped to one of five target locations projected onto the floor with distances normalized to the paretic stride length. Targeting error and lower extremity kinematics were used to assess changes in foot placement and limb control due to somatosensory stimulation. Significant reductions in placement error in the medial–lateral direction (p = 0.008) were observed during the stimulation and post-stimulation blocks. Seven participants, presenting with a hip circumduction walking pattern, had reductions (p = 0.008) in the magnitude and duration of hip abduction during swing with somatosensory stimulation. Reductions in circumduction correlated with both functional and clinical measures, with larger improvements observed in participants with greater impairment. The results of this study suggest that somatosensory stimulation of the paretic foot applied during movement can improve the precision control of foot placement

    La gestión administrativa y la recaudación del impuesto predial de la Municipalidad Provincial de Bongará, 2020.

    The researchers decided to use as the main objective to determine the level of relationship between administrative management and the collection of property tax of the Provincial Municipality of Bongará, 2020. In the same way, they agreed to carry out an investigation with a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental design of cross-sectional, applied type and with a causal correlation level, the methods used were descriptive and inferential statistics, where the technique was the survey and the instrument was the questionnaire, considering 1780 contributors as a universe, of which it was obtained using a statistical formula a sample of 100 taxpayers. In summary, a Spearman Rho of 0.653 was obtained and the value of Sig. Is less than 0.05, the research hypothesis being acceptable. It was concluded that administrative management has a direct linear relationship with the collection of property tax; revealing that by efficiently fulfilling the four elements such as planning, organization, direction and control, then we will increase the collection of the property tax of the Provincial Municipality of Bongará.Las investigadoras decidieron utilizar como objetivo principal determinar el nivel de relación entre la gestión administrativa y la recaudación del impuesto predial de la Municipalidad Provincial de Bongará, 2020. De la misma forma consintieron llevar a cabo una investigación con enfoque cuantitativo, con diseño no experimental de corte transversal, de tipo aplicada y con un nivel correlacional causal, los métodos manejados fueron el estadístico descriptivo y el inferencial, donde la técnica fue la encuesta y el instrumento fue el cuestionario, considerando a 1780 contribuyentes como universo, de los cuales, se obtuvo a través de fórmula estadística una muestra de 100 sujetos pasivos. En resumen, se obtuvo un Rho de Spearman de 0,653 y el valor de la Sig., es menor al 0,05, siendo la hipótesis de investigación aceptable. Se concluyó que la gestión administrativa posee una relación directa lineal con la recaudación del impuesto predial; revelando que al cumplirse de forma eficiente los cuatro elementos como la planificación, la organización, la dirección y el control entonces aumentaremos la recaudación del impuesto predial de la Municipalidad Provincial de Bongará
