Facial expressions and dysphonia: a pilot study in dysphonic women
alegria e a uma maior manifestação de traços associáveis à tristeza, sendo a transmissão emocional é bimodal.""Five adult speakers with vocal perturbation were studied in a prospective exploratory study, with five
healthy volunteers without vocal perturbation for control purposes. The methodology used was descriptive, comparative
and correlational. A complex evaluation protocol including: facial expression analysis (eyebrows, eyes and
mouth during oral reading of passages representing different emotions (neutral, joy and sadness) and talking about a
personal event were carried out. The aims of this study were: 1) identification of the facial expressions used in different
emotional contexts; 2) verification of the relation between the rank of vocal perturbation and the facial expressions
for different emotional contexts; 3) comparison between subjects to investigate whether significant differences
exist between two groups of different voice conditions on the facial expressions used in different emotional contexts.
The results show statistically significant differences (p <0.05) between the two groups in the facial expression of joy.
Subjects with vocal disorder are less facially expressive in all contexts and significantly less expressive of joy. The
degree of dysphonia is associated with a reduction of facial expressions of joy and greater manifestation of assignable
sadness features. The emotional transmission is bimodal.
Consequentemente,
à frequência e à forma espectral do fonão A1(LO).
do InxGa1-xN parcialmente relaxada.
adequado.Semiconductors based on InxGa1-xN are widely used in light emitting devices, in
a novel array of technological applications. The knowledge of the fundamental
physical properties of this material has been progressing at a slower rate than
the fast paced technological development. However, in order to develop
devices tailored to specific needs, a deep knowledge of the physics of this
system is mandatory.
The main purpose of the research work was the study of the vibrational
properties of the semiconductor alloy of InxGa1-xN, through the use of Raman
dispersion technique. The InxGa1-xN films that were characterized were
epitaxially grown by chemical vapour deposition, over a GaN/sapphire subtract.
Through the combined use of different characterization techniques, optical
(Raman spectroscopy, Photoluminescence and Absorption) and structural
(Scanning Electron Microscopy, Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry and
X-Ray Diffraction), it was possible to successfully separate the effects of strain
and composition on the frequency of the InxGa1-xN A1 (LO) phonon.
Consequently, the deformation potentials, concerning the A1 (LO) phonon, were
determined, and the phonon frequency dependency on the alloy composition
was established.
The relaxation process of the InxGa1-xN lattice, along the growth direction, was
studied by the use of Raman spectroscopy on a set of samples that had
suffered a chemically controlled etching. This study enabled to consolidate the
interpretation of all the experimental results concerning the frequency and
spectral shape of A1 (LO) phonon. Apart of the study of lattice dynamics, and
since this study required that absorption and emission energies related to
electronic transitions were identified, the emission at 1.88 eV, on a partially
relaxed sample, was observed and characterized.
Finally, a study was developed aiming to evaluate the receptivity, of the
InxGa1-xN matrix, to the incorporation, by means of ionic implantation, of rareearth
ions, in particular of Er3+. Therefore, luminescence at ~1.5 μm, linked to
the intraionic transition of excited state (4I13/2 ) to fundamental state ( 4I15/2), was
also studied. Results have shown that ion incorporation by an implantation
process is not the most suitable for InxGa1-xN lattice

The objective of this work is to help understand the influence of demotivation on the performance of the teaching profession.
This theme was chosen due to the concern felt as a member of the Direction Board of a school where it is heard, whether in the teacher’s room, whether in the other schools of the group, the outflows and concerns of teachers regarding to the student’s failures, to the increasing disclaimer of the parents/other carers, to the increasing indiscipline among students, and other situations.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of demotivation on the performance of the teaching profession. A questionnaire was applied to 116 teachers of the school in study. Coordinators of the Educative Units of the Schools Group were interviewed, because it falls on them much of the responsibility to manage schools and their teachers, this way allowing us to obtain more complete information.
Regarding to the impact of demotivation on the performance of teaching profession, it was concluded that there are several demotivation factors. Nevertheless, it was also concluded that despite all the constraints they have to face, teachers participate in all the activities of the school/schools group and do everything for the sake of student success, this teaching practice being a factor of professional satisfaction
MUSICEMBRIOLOGY IN CHILDREN EURODEVELOPMENT: A REVIEW
Outro ECAC (NE3) e a RS (FR B) demonstraram que o ambiente intrauterino é importante no neurodesenvolvimento neonatal, sobretudo no desenvolvi- mento do córtex cerebral motor e neurosensorial.
Introduction: Musicembriology is music listening during pregnancy, in order to improve maternal-fetal relationship and child neurodevelopment. However, their relationship is not well established, so it remains a controversial issue.
Objective: Review of the available evidence on the impact of music listening during pregnancy on children’s neurodevelopment.
Methods: Meta-analysis research, systematic reviews, randomized controlled trials, and standards of clinical orientation, in English and Portuguese languages, published between 01/2004 and 04/2014, on the basis Pubmed / Medline, medical sites based on evidence and Portuguese Index of Medical Journal, using the MeSH terms: music; pregnancy; child; neurodevelopment. For the assessment of levels of evidence (NE) and award recommendation forces (FR) scale SORT was used (Strength of Recommendation Taxonomy) of the American Family Physician.
Results: Eleven articles were found, four of which were selected: three randomized controlled trials and one systematic review. A randomized controlled trial (NE 1) showed significant improvement in neonatal behavior in children whose mothers listened to music during pregnancy. A randomized controlled trial (NE 2) showed an improvement of maternal-fetal relationship with musicoembriology. Another randomized controlled trial (NE3) and a systematic review (B FR) showed that the intrauterine environment is important in the neonatal brain development, especially the development of the motor and sensorineural cerebral cortex.
Conclusion: The available evidence showed that music listening during the embryonic period shows benefit in children’s neurodevelopment. (FR B) However, those obtained studies are few in number and have great heterogeneity in methodological terms.
Further studies are needed with controlled populations and similar methodology for the overall recommendation of this measur
Carbon stock estimation in a Mediterranean riparian forest: a case study combining field data and UAV imagery
This study aims to estimate the total biomass aboveground and soil carbon stocks in a
Mediterranean riparian forest and identify the contribution of the different species and ecosystem
compartments to the overall riparian carbon reservoir. We used a combined field and object-based
image analysis (OBIA) approach, based on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) multispectral imagery,
to assess C stock of three dominant riparian species. A linear discriminator was designed, based on
a set of spectral variables previously selected in an optimal way, permitting the classification of
the species corresponding to every object in the study area. This made it possible to estimate
the area occupied by each species and its contribution to the tree aboveground biomass (AGB).
Three uncertainty levels were considered, related to the trade-o between the number of unclassified
and misclassified objects, leading to an error control associated with the estimated tree AGB.We found
that riparian woodlands dominated by Acacia dealbata Link showed the highest average carbon stock
per unit area (251 90 tC ha1) followed by Alnus glutinosa (L.) Gaertner (162 12 tC ha1) and
by Salix salviifolia Brot. (73 17 tC ha1), which are mainly related to the stem density, vegetation
development and successional stage of the different stands. The woody tree compartment showed
the highest inputs (79%), followed by the understory vegetation (12%) and lastly by the soil mineral
layer (9%). Spectral vegetation indices developed to suppress saturation effects were consistently
selected as important variables for species classification. The total tree AGB in the study area varies
from 734 to 1053 tC according to the distinct levels of uncertainty. This study provided the foundations
for the assessment of the riparian carbon sequestration and the economic value of the carbon stocks
provided by similar Mediterranean riparian forests, a highly relevant ecosystem service for the

I intended to study the representation of the works of mercy in the 18th century tile (azulejo) panels, from the double point of view of their iconography, and their integration in the context of the Portuguese Misericórdias. Starting with the doctrinal analysis of these fourteen charitative actions, and the related images known both in Europe and in Portugal, I essayed to inscribe these representations, particularly disseminated among us in the 18th century, in a much more complex context, that of the history of the Misericórdias, established in Portugal from 1498. To the understanding the works of mercy representation in its totality, and in the context of confraternities that had in those charitative actions the bases of their attributions, it will correspond the confirmation of both conceptual and plastic unity of the vast 18th century programs of azulejo. Taking advantage from their narrative potential, they successfully covered entire walls, in temples and other buildings, with images of great doctrinal meaning, even if displaying distinct grades of erudition. From the initial idea that leads to the foundation of the Misericórdia of Lisboa to the 18th century, there goes a long distance. The heavy spiritual component originally present gave way, progressively, to a crescent specialization of tasks, with certain works being privileged in detriment of others. At the same time, a tendency of crises and decay occurred in the life of the Misericórdias during the 18th century, period to which most of the representations of the works of mercy date back. In my opinion, this correlation is linked to the crescent need for institutional promotion and legitimation, due to the reforming of the notion of social assistance, slowly evolving to secularisation, not consummated until much latter. This search for legitimating was, at least until the third quarter of the 18th century, a way of facing the growing corruption and bankruptcy of the Misericórdias, and also of keeping the assistance activity within traditional religious grounds
