Homogeneous asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of ketones using a ruthenium catalyst anchored on chitosan : natural chirality at work

    Get PDF
A pivaloyl functionalized chitosan biopolymer was used as a polyligand for the [Ru(p-cymene)Cl2] moiety. The functionalized biopolymer containing a metal to saccharide ratio of 0.33 was used as a catalyst for the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of ketones. The reactions gave yields up to 80% and enantiomeric excesses up to 72%, with the intrinsic chirality of chitosan being the only source of enantioselection

A rough-cut capacity planning model with overlapping

    Get PDF
In the early phases of projects, capacity planning is performed to assess the feasibility of the project in terms of delivery date, resource usage and cost. This tactical approach relies on an aggregated representation of tasks in work packages. At this level, aggressive project duration objectives are achieved by adopting work package overlapping policies that affect both workload and resource usage. In this article, we propose a mixed-time MILP model for project capacity planning with different possibilities for overlapping levels between work packages. In the model, the planning time horizon is divided into time buckets used to evaluate resource usage, while starting and ending times for work packages are continuous. The model was tested on a benchmark of 5 sets of 450 theoretical instances each. More than half of the tested instances were solved to optimality within 500 s. Results also show that, while overlapping is more beneficial for accelerating project delivery times, it can still have a positive impact on project cost by allowing a better distribution of workload. Finally, overlapping options seem to have less influence on the performance of the model than project slack or number of work packages

Anxiety in Mice: A Principal Component Analysis Study

    Get PDF
Two principal component analyses of anxiety were undertaken investigating two strains of mice (ABP/Le and C57BL/6ByJ) in two different experiments, both classical tests for assessing anxiety in rodents. The elevated plus-maze and staircase were used for the first experiment, and a free exploratory paradigm and light-dark discrimination were used for the second. The components in the analyses produced definitions of four fundamental behavior patterns: novelty-induced anxiety, general activity, exploratory behavior, and decision making. We also noted that the anxious phenotype was determined by both strain and experimental procedure. The relationship between behavior patterns and the use of specific tests plus links with the genetic background are discussed

An MDA approach for developing Secure OLAP applications: metamodels and transformations

    Get PDF
Decision makers query enterprise information stored in Data Warehouses (DW) by using tools (such as On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) tools) which employ specific views or cubes from the corporate DW or Data Marts, based on multidimensional modelling. Since the information managed is critical, security constraints have to be correctly established in order to avoid unauthorized access. In previous work we defined a Model-Driven based approach for developing a secure DW repository by following a relational approach. Nevertheless, it is also important to define security constraints in the metadata layer that connects the DW repository with the OLAP tools; that is, over the same multidimensional structures that end users manage. This paper incorporates a proposal for developing secure OLAP applications within our previous approach: it improves a UML profile for conceptual modelling; it defines a logical metamodel for OLAP applications; and it defines and implements transformations from conceptual to logical models, as well as from logical models to secure implementation in a specific OLAP tool (SQL Server Analysis Services). This research is part of the following projects: SIGMA-CC (TIN2012-36904), GEODAS-BC (TIN2012-37493-C01) and GEODAS-BI (TIN2012-37493-C03) funded by the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad and Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional FEDER. Pharmacological Alterations of Anxious Behaviour in Mice Depending on Both Strain and the Behavioural Situation

    Get PDF
A previous study comparing non-emotive mice from the strain C57BL/6/ByJ with ABP/Le mice showed ABP/Le to be more anxious in an open-field situation. In the present study, several compounds affecting anxiety were assayed on ABP/Le and C57BL/6/ByJ mice using three behavioural models of anxiety: the elevated plus-maze, the light-dark discrimination test and the free exploratory paradigm. The compounds used were the full benzodiazepine receptor agonist, chlordiazepoxide, and the antagonist, flumazenil, the GABAA antagonist, bicuculline, the full 5-HT1A agonist 8-OH-DPAT, and the mixed 5-HT1A/5-HT1B agonist, RU 24969. Results showed the effect of the compounds to be dependent on both the strain and the behavioural task. Several compounds found to be anxiolytic in ABP/Le mice had an anxiogenic effect on C57BL/6/ByJ mice. More behavioural changes were observed for ABP/Le in the elevated plus-maze, but the clearest findings for C57BL/6/ByJ mice were observed in the light-dark discrimination apparatus. These data demonstrate that anxious behaviour is a complex phenomenon which cannot be described by a single behavioural task nor by the action of a single compound

    Quel modèle de bibliothèque ?

    Get PDF
