In this work we sought to improve the spare parts supply process in the company "Desarrollo y Control de Proyectos de Ingeniería S.R.L.", located in the city of Arequipa, by reducing costs, classifying supplies and quantitative information. To do this it was necessary to know and analyze the problems faced by the company, that is, the deficient supply, which produces a continuous shortage of spare parts that are necessary to provide maintenance services, which results in losses of income for the company amounting to S/. 162,000 per year and increased costs in the logistics office. Once the problems were identified, the ABC - Inventories method was applied to identify the necessary spare parts and the EOQ - Optimal Order Quantity model was used to find the balance point between adequate stock and costs. With the application of these methods, it was possible to reduce the stock of 28 spare parts that are in the "C" clasificación and consequently there was a reduction in logistics costs of S/. 18,986.01 per year. Having as support a quantitative model, such as the EOQ model - Optimal Order Quantity, would guarantee the continuous supply of all spare parts, this is essential to no longer lose more maintenance services for both domestic and industrial water pumps, translating into figures will result in an additional income for maintenance services of S/. 162,000 per year, thus achieving an improvement in the supply process of the company.Campus Arequip

Abstract Background Healthcare cannot achieve net-zero carbon without addressing operating theatres. The aim of this study was to prioritize feasible interventions to reduce the environmental impact of operating theatres. Methods This study adopted a four-phase Delphi consensus co-prioritization methodology. In phase 1, a systematic review of published interventions and global consultation of perioperative healthcare professionals were used to longlist interventions. In phase 2, iterative thematic analysis consolidated comparable interventions into a shortlist. In phase 3, the shortlist was co-prioritized based on patient and clinician views on acceptability, feasibility, and safety. In phase 4, ranked lists of interventions were presented by their relevance to high-income countries and low–middle-income countries. Results In phase 1, 43 interventions were identified, which had low uptake in practice according to 3042 professionals globally. In phase 2, a shortlist of 15 intervention domains was generated. In phase 3, interventions were deemed acceptable for more than 90 per cent of patients except for reducing general anaesthesia (84 per cent) and re-sterilization of ‘single-use’ consumables (86 per cent). In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for high-income countries were: introducing recycling; reducing use of anaesthetic gases; and appropriate clinical waste processing. In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for low–middle-income countries were: introducing reusable surgical devices; reducing use of consumables; and reducing the use of general anaesthesia. Conclusion This is a step toward environmentally sustainable operating environments with actionable interventions applicable to both high– and low–middle–income countries

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive and heterogeneous disease. Seven subtypes have been described based on gene expression patterns. Herein, we characterized the tumor biology and clinical behavior of the immunomodulatory (IM) subtype. Methods: Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tumor samples from 68 high-risk (stage III-IV) TNBC patients were analyzed through microarrays, immunohistochemistry, and DNA sequencing. Results: The IM subtype was identified in 24% of TNBC tumor samples and characterized by a higher intratumoral (intT) and stromal (strml) infiltration of FOXP3+ TILs (Treg) compared with non-IM subtypes. Further, PD-L1+ (>1%) expression was significantly higher, as well as CTLA-4+ intT and strml expression in the IM subtype. Differential expression and gene set enrichment analysis identified biological processes associated with the immune system. Pathway analysis revealed enrichment of the β-catenin signaling pathway. The non-coding analysis led to seven Long Intergenic Non-Protein Coding RNAs (lincRNAs) (6 up-regulated and 1 down-regulated) that were associated with a favorable prognosis in the TNBC-IM subtype. The DNA sequencing highlighted two genes relevant to immune system responses: CTNNB1 (Catenin β-1) and IDH1. Conclusion: the IM subtype showed a distinct immune microenvironment, as well as subtype-specific genomic alterations. Characterizing TNBC at a molecular and transcriptomic level might guide immune-based therapy in this subgroup of patients

Watersheds are fundamental units of analysis for the development of planning and management processes. Understanding their dynamics, structure, and functioning is the basis for territory planning and decision-making. However, their functionality and sustainable use depend on the information and knowledge of these ecosystems, as well as their regimes and responsiveness against anthropogenic interventions, variability, and climate change. This book provides tools and methodologies for the planning and evaluation of water resources, as well as for the formulation and implementation of mechanisms for adaptation to climate change and integrated watershed management. The publication “Integral management of the upper basin of the Magdalena River: tools for its evaluation and planning” is the result of research carried out by students, professors, and graduates from the School of Agricultural, Livestock and Environmental Sciences (ECAPMA, for its Spanish acronym) of UNAD (Spanish acronym for Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia), and the research group Inyumacizo, classified in an A Category group according to the Colombian Ministry of Sciences—MinCiencias.
