Due to the emotional impact of COVID-19 on university students, the goal was to explore the relationship between anxiety, depression, psychological well-being, and life satisfaction among pre-professional interns. The research was carried out using an explanatory cross-sectional design, with the participation of 1011 pre-professional interns of 13 health networks from the department of Puno (Peru). Data were collected using the Satisfaction with Life Scale, Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-2, Patient Health Questionnaire 2, and the Psychological Wellbeing Scale. The main data analysis was carried out using the R statistical software, and implementing the confirmatory factor analysis technique, which evidenced that the explanatory model provides an acceptable value. Based on the above, a negative relationship between depression and life satisfaction, (β ¼ .60, p < .001) and a positive relationship between anxiety and life satisfaction (β ¼ .28, p < .001) was shown, in addition to a mediating effect of the psychological wellbeing related to depression and life satisfaction (p < .001). In conclusion, life satisfaction is explained concerning the degree of depression and anxiety, as well as the moderating effect of psychological well-being. Despite that, there is an urgent need to take preventive actions to strengthen the mental health of the pre-professional health interns, who have also been providing support during the COVID-19 pandemic.Campus Arequip

The study sought to analyze the evidences of validity, factorial invariance and reliability of the scores of the Jealousy Subscale of the Inventory of Emotional Communication in Romantic Relationships (Sanchez, 2012). To that effect, there was a sample of 1176 Peruvian university students who completed the 11 items of the original version. The confirmatory factor analysis verified a satisfactory adjustment of a final model of nine items in a single factor and correlated errors. It is concluded that the Jealousy scale is a measure that can be used in the professional and research activity, obtaining valid interpretations, reliable and invariant scores according to gender in Peruvian university students.

    Get PDF
Es un artículo científicoThe COVID-19 pandemic has had a very negative impact on people’s overall mental health and psychosocial well-being, but the study of available social support to cope with such an adverse situation has received hardly any attention. Objective: To examine the psychometric properties of the MOS Perceived Social Support Questionnaire among the Mexican population in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Non-experimental cross-sectional study. A sociodemographic questionnaire and the Medical Outcomes Study were applied in a non-probabilistic sample. A total of 898 people from different regions in Mexico, 258 males and 640 females, participated in the study in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: The analysis yielded a bi-factor model with two factors, Emotional/informational support and Tangible support, with satisfactory goodness of fit indices. Reliability was adequate with a high hierarchical omega coefficient, as well as in the factors. Likewise, the H coefficient was adequate in the general factor and its dimensions. Conclusions: Results showed that the scale is a valid and reliable measure of perceived social support among the Mexican population

Es un artículo científicoThe COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant negative impact on the mental health and psychosocial well-being of the general population, but little attention has been paid to the social support available to people to cope with such adverse conditions. Objective. To examine the psychometric properties of the MOS Perceived Social Support Questionnaire in the Mexican population in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Method. Non-experimental cross-sectional study. A sociodemographic questionnaire and the Medical Outcomes Study (MOS) were applied in a non-probabilistic sample. A total of 898 people from different regions of Mexico (Mage = 34.85, SD = 11.37, Females = 640, Males = 258) participated in the study. Results. The analysis yielded a bifactor model with two factors (F1. Emotional/informational support, F2. Tangible support) with satisfactory goodness of fit indices (χ2 = 486.36; df = 88; p = .000; RMSEA = .071 [IC90% .065 – .077]; SRMR = .02; CFI =.99; TLI =.99). Reliability was adequate with a high hierarchical omega coefficient (.95), as well as on the factors (F1 ωhs = .03, F2 ωhs = .28). Likewise, the H coefficient was adequate in the general factor and its dimensions (HHG = 98; Hhs = .28; Hhs = .56). Discussion and conclusion. Results showed that the scale is a valid and reliable measure of perceived social support in the Mexican population

The Cinematic Daydream as a Tool of Political Emancipation: Plus-de-Jouir, Aufhebung and the Parallax

In this research, we will start by expo- sing the paradox of ‘surplus enjoyment’ (the Lacanian plus-de-jouir), showing that its parallax structure of lack and excess is also applicable to the pheno- menon of (surplus) repression. Linking his concept with the Hegelian Aufhebung, understood as a ‘failed negation of negation’ or a ‘negation of negation’ as failure, we will focus in detail on the central example illustrating our theoretical positions, which is Iciar Bollain’s film Tambien la Lluvia (Even the Rain). In analyzing its narrative structures that address the neocolonial reality, we will tend to approach indirectly, by reading the medium of cinematic narration, the ‘neocolonial question.

Psychometric evidence of a brief measure of resilience in non-institutionalized Peruvian older adults

Resilience is understood as the domain of personal resources and contextual factors that allow for a successful coping and enhance positive adaptation to the different stressors during the lifespan, thereby being important for a healthy and successful aging. Nowadays, several brief instruments have been developed to measure resilience, such as the Brief Resilient Coping Scale (BRCS), an instrument that measures the ability of people to confront stress in an adaptive way. In this vein, the study provides evidence of the validity and reliability of the BRCS in non-institutionalized older adults in Peru. Two hundred thirty-six elderly people of both genders, 78.4% women and 21.6% men, with a mean age of 72.8 years (SD= 6.90), who answered the Spanish version of the BRCS and other scales to measure satisfaction with life, humor as coping, and depression. Confirmatory factor analysis corroborates the one-dimensional structure of the BRCS. The coefficients of internal consistency, Chronbach's alpha and omega, indicated an adequate reliability of the BRCS. Both the adjustment indices of the model and the values of the coefficients of reliability were higher compared to those reported in the literature. The BRCS showed positive and significant correlations with satisfaction with life and humor as coping (p < .01). Likewise, negative and significant correlations were observed with depression (p < .01). The results show that the BRCS has proved valid and reliable, supporting its use as a short measure of resilience in older Peruvians.
