Son muy pocos los datos que poseemos de Sor Magdalena de la Santísima Trinidad, más allá de los aportados por Manuel Serrano y Sanz en su conocida obra Apuntes para una biblioteca de escritoras españolas desde el año 1401 a 1833 (1903-1905: CCLXVIII-CCLXIX). Allí, entre las páginas 268 y 269, nos habla de una monja bernarda que vivió enclaustrada en el monasterio cisterciense de San Ildefonso (Ocaña, Toledo), durante más de 50 años

Partos asombrosos: a propósito de dos relaciones de sucesos acaecidos en Jaén (siglos XVI-XVII)

Cet article présente l’analyse de deux récits de faits-divers, conservés à la Bibliothèque Nationale de Madrid et relatifs à la naissance de monstres, à Jaén, aux XVIe et XVIIe siècles. Le style des deux récits est différent, mais l’un et l’autre témoignent de l’intérêt que la tératologie a suscité dans l’Espagne du Siècle d’Or en matière de nouvelles à sensation fortement littérarisées.This article studies the accounts of two strange news items, both of which are kept in the National Library in Madrid. They both deal with the births of oversized babies in Jaén, during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The two accounts are stylistically quite different but they show how great an interest in teratology there was during the Spanish Golden Age, in terms of sensational literary works.En este artículo se estudian dos relaciones de sucesos conservadas en la Biblioteca Nacional de Madrid, que tratan sobre nacimientos monstruosos acaecidos en Jaén en los siglos XVI y XVII. El estilo de ambas es distinto, pero las dos muestran el interés que suscitó el tema de la teratología en la España del Siglo de Oro, a la luz, en este caso, del enfoque particular adoptado en el relato de noticias sensacionalistas ampliamente literaturizadas

A pesar de que la sociedad moderna no favorece la supervivencia de la lírica popular de antaño, todavía se mantienen en el recuerdo de algunas personas vestigios de lo que fue aquella tradición. La novela corta en los catálogos del librero Alonso y Padilla

This article focuses on the presence of the seventeenth-century short novel in the catalogues that Pedro Joseph Alonso y Padilla handed out in his bookshop. Different versions of the catalogues that the bookseller compiled from 1720 to 1740 have been analyzed as well as the titles that he actually edited. The criteria for the selection of titles are difficult to guess, yet it is quite revealing that he drew particular attention to such prominent writers as Cervantes, Zayas, Carvajal, Castillo Solórzano or Salas Barbadillo.Este artículo sondea la presencia de la novela corta del siglo XVII en los catálogos que Pedro Joseph Alonso y Padilla fue distribuyendo en su librería. Se han tenido en cuenta las distintas versiones de lo que hizo desde 1720 a 1740, analizando después aquellos títulos que realmente editó. Por qué eligió unos y no otros se antoja difícil de averiguar, pero sí que es revelador el hecho de que se fijara en nombres tan representativos como Cervantes, Zayas, Carvajal, Castillo Solórzano o Salas Barbadillo

Imitar al que imita: Castillo Solórzano y el "Epítome a la historia de fray Tomás de Villanueva" de Quevedo

Alonso de Castillo Solórzano includes in his Sagrario de Valencia a compendium of seven stories of saints and blessed related to Valencia, including the brother Tomás de Villanueva. He confesses to have used the text written by Miguel Bartolomé Salón as a source, but nothing says about the Epítome a la vida of this Augustinian friar, written by Quevedo, which Solórzano is imitating in fact. The object of this article is to analyse this particular circumstance and the different ways of the rewriting of Castillo SolórzanoAlonso de Castillo Solórzano recoge en su Sagrario de Valencia un compedio de siete vidas de santos o beatos vinculados con esta ciudad, entre los que se encuentra fray Tomás de Villanueva. Confiesa haber tomado como fuente a Miguel Bartolomé Salón pero nada dice del Epítome a la vida de este agustino escrita por Quevedo, a quien realmente está siguiendo. Digital VLSI Implementation of Piecewise-Affine Controllers Based on Lattice Approach

This paper presents a small, fast, low-power consumption solution for piecewise-affine (PWA) controllers. To achieve this goal, a digital architecture for very-large-scale integration (VLSI) circuits is proposed. The implementation is based on the simplest lattice form, which eliminates the point location problem of other PWA representations and is able to provide continuous PWA controllers defined over generic partitions of the input domain. The architecture is parameterized in terms of number of inputs, outputs, signal resolution, and features of the controller to be generated. The design flows for field-programmable gate arrays and application-specific integrated circuits are detailed. Several application examples of explicit model predictive controllers (such as an adaptive cruise control and the control of a buck-boost dc-dc converter) are included to illustrate the performance of the VLSI solution obtained with the proposed lattice-based architecture

Circuit implementation of piecewise-affine functions based on lattice representation

This paper introduces a digital architecture to implement piecewise-affine (PWA) functions based on representation methods from the lattice theory. Given an explicit and continuous PWA function, the parameters required to implement the lattice approach can be obtained by an off-line preprocessing that can be automated. Other advantages of the proposal are that it implements a continuous PWA function with potentially no errors and the minimum number of parameters to store.
