A cross-age study (13-22) in students' ideas about a microscopic model of the matter and its uses by means of concept maps is presented. Data of alternative ideas about heat and temperature concepts are examinated. The results show the resistance to changing these alternative ideas

Razonamiento y argumentación en ciencias : diferentes puntos de vista en el currículo oficial

Las perspectivas constructivistas del aprendizaje y de la enseñanza de las ciencias señalan la importancia de que los alumnos aprendan a razonar y a argumentar. Los nuevos currículos de ciencias deberían tener en cuenta el campo de las destrezas cognitivas y de pensamiento. A ese respecto, hemos diseñado un marco referencial y una clave de vaciado y de categorización de contenidos procedimentales que nos han permitido evaluar si el currículo oficial de la Argentina fomenta el aprendizaje de las estrategias de razonamiento y de argumentación en niveles de enseñanza no universitarios y en la formación de profesores.The constructivist approaches to learning in science teaching show towards the importance of students learning how to reason an argument. Esquemas de razonamiento y de acción de estudiantes de ESO en la interpretación de los cambios producidos en un sistema material

A partir de la teoría de los esquemas, se ha diseñado una nueva estrategia de evaluación --esquemas de razonamiento y esquemas de acción-- para valorar el aprendizaje del conocimiento conceptual y procedimental. Tratamos de identificar los posibles esquemas (dilatación y relación entre variables) que usan algunos estudiantes (12-13 años) en la interpretación de hechos relacionados con su vida cotidiana. En concreto, nos hemos centrado en qué ocurre en un sistema material cuando recibe energía transferida mediante un mechero. Por último, establecemos ciertas implicaciones para la enseñanza de estos contenidos en la educación secundaria.Starting from the schema theory, an new evaluation strategy has been developed --reasoning schema and action schema-- to assess the learning of conceptual and procedural knowledge. We attempt to identify the possible schema (dilation, relation among variables) which some students (12-13 years old) use in their interpretation of some aspects related to their everyday life. In this particular instance, we have concentrated in what happens in a material system when it receives an energy transference with a burner. Finally, we have established certain implications for the teaching of these contents in compulsory secondary education

SBAR Method for Improving Well-Being in the Internal Medicine Unit: Quasi-Experimental Research

SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) is a tool for standardizing and improving interprofessional communication. This study aims to explore the impact of SBAR in healthcare professionals’ wellbeing, through concepts such as job satisfaction, engagement, resilience, and job performance, in the internal medicine unit of a university hospital in the province of León (Spain). This is an observational, descriptive, longitudinal case study with a pre- and post-intervention approach. Questionnaires were distributed to a group of doctors, nurses, and healthcare assistants before and after the implementation of the SBAR tool in the ward. The use of SBAR was monitored to ensure staff compliance. Data statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS program. Resilience levels increased significantly post-intervention. Job satisfaction and engagement levels remained neutral, slightly decreasing post-intervention. Besides’ being a useful tool to improve communication, SBAR was effective in improving resilience among staff. Several aspects related to hospital management may have had an impact on job satisfaction and engagement results.S

Variscan metamorphism in the eastern Pyrenees and its relation to Late-Variscan magmatism revealed by U-Pb zircon dating: implications for the configuration of the Variscan Belt in the NE Iberian Peninsula

Variscan migmatites cropping out in the eastern Pyrenees were dated together with Late Variscan plutonic rocks. Upper Proterozoic–Lower Cambrian series were migmatized during a thermal episode that occurred in the interval 320–315 Ma coeval with the main Variscan deformation event (D1). The calc-alkaline Sant Llorenç–La Jonquera pluton and the gabbro–diorite Ceret stock were emplaced during a later thermal episode synchronous with the D2 deformation event. A tonalite located at the base of La Jonquera suite intruded into the upper crustal levels between 314 and 311 Ma. The gabbro–diorite stock was emplaced in the middle levels of the series in two magmatic pulses at 312 and 307 Ma. The thermal evolution recorded in the eastern Pyrenees can be correlated with that of neighbouring areas of NE Iberia (Pyrenees–Catalan Coastal Ranges) and SE France (Montagne Noire). The correlation suggests a NW–SE-trending zonation where the northeasternmost areas (Montagne Noire and eastern Pyrenees) would occupy relatively more internal zones of the orogen than the southwesternmost ones

The purpose of this article is to make Known to the public the work carried out under the frame of the Research Project: Craftsmen and Patrons within Monasticism in Galicia (INCITE09 263 131 PR), funded by the Xunta de Galicia. This project brought to light all events related with the liturgical furniture of the Montederramo Cisctercian Monastery Church after the sail of Church Property (Desarmortización).Este trabajo, realizado en el marco del Proyecto de Investigación: Artífices y patrones en el monacato gallego (INCITE09 263 131 PR), financiado por la Xunta de Galicia, analiza los avatares vividos tras la Desamortización por el mobiliario litúrgico de la iglesia abacial de Montederramo y su recuperación financiada por la Dirección Xeral de la Xunta de Galicia.Este trabalho, realizado no âmbito do projecto de investigação: Artífices e Patrões no Monacato galego (INCITE09 263 131 PR), financiado pela Junta da Galiza, analisa os avatares vividos após a Desamortização pelo mobiliário litúrgico da igreja abacial de Montederramo e a sua posterior recuperação pela Direcção Geral da Junta da Galiza
