INSIGHTS OF TAKE-OFF OF GROUND REACTIONS FORCE IN HIGH JUMP

The take-off plays an important role on the high jump (HJ) performance, since it is there where the trajectory of the centre of mass is defined (Tellez, 1993) in order to achieve the maximum possible height and clear the bar (Dapena, 1988). The literature has presented several studies using kinematic parameters, however there are very few studies using dynamic parameters to evaluate the take-off (Coh & Supej, 2008). In contrast to other jumps, the HJ presents an increased complexity due to the curvilinear approach-run pathway, imposing a three-dimensional analysis of the movement. On the other hand, the point where the jumpers perform the take-off differs considerably for different subjects. For those reasons research presented in the literature is fundamentally based in the kinematics of the approach-run and take-off. Although great knowledge was achieved in the kinematic of HJ, very few studies can be found concerning the ground reaction forces (GRF). However the knowledge of the GRF pattern enables a more thorough evaluation of the jumper technique and efficiency. The purposes of this study were (i) to evaluate the HJ take-off technique using force plate data based on the characterization of the GRF pattern and (ii) definition of take-off GRF profiles as function of technical and conditional characteristics of different athletes

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)To analyze the perception of pediatric guidelines by mothers at the time of consultation in private offices, in order to know how they assimilate, process and use the information received from the pediatricians. Methods Data collection was carried out by a questionnaire sent to participants by a total of 200 mothers from a virtual community in social networks participated in the research. The answers were transcribed using the Discourse of the Collective Subject method. The analyses were supported by the research qualitative perspective, from the viewpoint of the social representation theory. Results Three categories were obtained through data analysis: (1) assessing the pediatric guidelines, (2) confronting theory and practice and (3) developing a critical view of the pediatric guidelines. These categories have elucidated that the level of knowledge of pediatric issues by mothers and their ability to use them when making decisions about the care of their babies, have a direct association between following or not the pediatric guidelines. Conclusions The mother's decision on following the pediatrician's recommendations depends on two main factors: (a) certification of the updated and proven recommendations, according to the official health agencies; (b) support and recognition by the pediatrician of the maternal empowerment during the follow-up process. The mothers’ practice of accessing knowledge through social networks hinders the pediatric monitoring. © 2015 Sociedade de Pediatria de São Paulo343330335CAPES, Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível SuperiorCoordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES

A Complex Case of Cholestasis in a Patient with ABCB4 and ABCB11 Mutations

The low-phospholipid-associated cholelithiasis (LPAC) syndrome is a form of symptomatic cholelithiasis occurring in young adults, characterized by recurrence of symptoms after cholecystectomy and presence of hepatolithiasis. The case refers to a healthy 39-year-old Caucasian male who presented with abdominal pain and jaundice. His blood tests showed conjugated hyperbilirubinemia and elevated liver enzymes (total bilirubin 6.65 mg/dL, γ-glutamyltransferase 699 IU/L) and abdominal computed tomography revealed dilation of common bile duct and left intrahepatic ducts. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography identified choledocholithiasis, retrieved by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, after which there was a worsening of jaundice (total bilirubin 23 mg/dL), which persisted for several weeks, possibly due to ciprofloxacin toxicity. After an extensive workup including liver biopsy, the identification of two foci of hepatolithiasis on reevaluation abdominal ultrasound raised the hypothesis of LPAC syndrome and the patient was started on ursodeoxycholic acid, with remarkable improvement. Genetic testing identified the mutation c.1954A>G (p.Arg652Gly) in ABCB4 gene (homozygous) and c.1331T>C (p.Val444Ala) in ABCB11 gene (heterozygous). In conclusion, we describe the unique case of an adult male with choledocholithiasis, hepatolithiasis, and persistent conjugated hyperbilirubinemia after retrieval of stones, fulfilling the criteria for LPAC syndrome and with possible superimposed drug-induced liver injury, in whom ABCB4 and ABCB11 mutations were found, both of which had not been previously described in association with LPAC.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
