Revisión de la historia y aplicación de escuaramida en organocatálisis
Squaramide and its derivatives represent an important group of substances that are currently being successfully applied in asymmetric organocatalitic strategies, which is why this contribution presents a summary of the state of the art related to the synthesis of escuaramide derivatives and their role as chirality inducers in relevant synthetic sequences. To this end, a process of systematic search and selection of reports published in specialized journals of the area was established in order to present the most significant aspects of synthesis and the application of escuaramide derivatives in this key area of organic chemistry.La escuaramida y sus derivados representan un importante grupo de sustancias que actualmente se están aplicando exitosamente en estrategias de organocatálisis asimétrica. En esta contribución se presenta un resumen del estado del arte relativo a la síntesis de los derivados de escuaramida y su papel como inductores de quiralidad en secuencias sintéticas relevantes. Por ello, se establece un proceso de búsqueda sistemática y selección de reportes publicados en revistas especializadas del área, con la finalidad de presentar los aspectos más notables de síntesis y la aplicación de los derivados de escuaramida en esta sustancial área de la química orgánica

Na monografía clásica de Puig y Larraz (1896: 250-252) amiéntense delles cavidaes del Conceyu de Piloña2 , pero non la Cueva d’El Sidrón (Fig. 1). Esta conocíase, ensin dulda, dende la Guerra Civil y el maquis al servir d’abellugu a persiguíos políticos, y guarda una alcordanza imborrable nuna de les sos múltiples entraes, yá qu’ellí ta enterrada Olvido Otero González (1908-1938). Per El Sidrón pasaron munches persones a lo llargo de los años, pero en 1994 prodúxose’l descubrimientu per parte d’unos espeleólogos xixoneses d’unos güesos humanos que dieron un importante xiru a la conocencia de los nuesos antepasaos neandertale

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF A DERIVATIVE CYCLOHEXANONE CHALCONE-TYPE, AS AN INTEGRAL LABORATORY EXPERIENCE
At present, chemistry teachers are searching new models that allow integrative laboratory experiences, converging interdisciplinary knowledge of the Chemistry field. With this framework of ideas, this work describes the synthesis and characterization of the (2E,6E)-2,6-bis(4-methoxybenzylidene)cyclohexanone compound as axis of knowledge in order to encourage the students to develop their cognitive skills, such as critical thinking and problem solving, and also interpretation and analysis of results. The compound was synthesized by a Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction, involving an aromatic aldehyde and cyclohexanone. The compound was characterized spectroscopically by NMR, IR and UV-Vis. Melting point and solubility tests were also performed. The chemical structure was confirmed by single crystal X-Ray diffraction. In conclusion, this laboratory experience allows students to get involved with the techniques and procedures commonly used in the organic chemistry laboratory to the synthesis and characterization of organic compounds
