[EN] INTRODUCTION: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is the hyperglycemia firstly detected during the second or third trimester of gestation. GDM is an important risk factor for the development of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM2) throughout life. Therefore, these patients should be tested with a 75g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) during postpartum period in order to diagnose early prediabetes or DM2. OBJECTIVE: To investigate how many patients with GDM undergo the postpartum 75g OGTT. Furthermore, to study the frequency of abnormalities in the carbohydrate metabolism among these patients (prediabetes or DM2). Finally, to analyse the different DM2 risk factors and their possible association with postpartum prediabetes or DM2. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a descriptive retrospective study, and its sample is formed of patients with GDM who gave birth during 2020 in the CAUSA. A descriptive analysis of the variables was made and then different statistical test were used to determine the presence of statistical correlation between DM2 risk factors and the postpartum revaluation result. A p-value lower than 0,05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: 117 patients participated in this study, with a mean age of 35,59 years. Regarding the postpartum evaluation, a 75g OGTT was performed in 55,6% of the patients, while it was not done in the rest of them. Among the revaluated patients, 29,2% were diagnosed with prediabetes and 6,2%, with DM2. Finally, the only correlation that was found to be statistically significant was between the number of altered values in the 100g OGTT performed during pregnancy and the positive result in the postpartum revaluation. CONCLUSION: There is an important number of patients who do not undergo the postpartum revaluation, as many as 44,4% in this study. Furthermore, more than one-third of the revaluated patients are diagnosed with prediabetes or DM2, and at a young age. A higher number of altered values in the 100g OGTT used to diagnose the GDM could indicate a bigger chance of developing postpartum prediabetes or DM2

Master de Producció i Recerca Artística, Facultat de Belles Arts, Universitat de Barcelona. Curs: 2022-2023. Tutor: Valera, Albert[cat] On comença i on acaba una pintura? Pot aquesta convertir-se en lloc? Pot parlar del temps? Implicar moviment? Where does a painting begin and where does it end? Can this become a place? Can painting talk about time? Involve movement? How many minutes do we need to observe a pictorial work? And how long can we retain it in our memory? These are some of the questions that this work addresses. A journey born from the act of painting and what this means for the author: touching the present with a brush. A reflection on time, space, the journey and the void. This research is completed with the realization of the piece Nunc stans, a sculptural painting that becomes the culminating point of the dissertation

The aim of this research was to determine the psychometric properties (construct validity and internal consistency) of The Revised Two-Factor Study Process Questionnaire (R-SPQ-2F) in health sciences students from Cartagena, Colombia. Validation study without a standard criterion in 857 health sciences students whom answered the R-SPQ-2F. The number of factors that explained the construct was determined using exploratory factor analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis determined construct validity and Cronbach’s Alpha internal consistency. R-SQP-2F showed a mean value 66.01±12.3 with minimum 36 and maximum 99. EFA showed a two-factor solution that accounted for the 42.5% of the total variance. However, CFA showed the following fit indexes: χ2=962.783; df=166; RMSEA=0.075 (90% CI %: 0.070-0.079); CFI=0.883; TLI=0.866. R-SPQ-2F is a scale with acceptable internal consistency and two-factor structure with questionable construct validity. However, it shows practical utility on higher education learning strategies related-research. Researchers need additional studies about its psychometric properties in the future

The effective tension area of concrete is a well known parameter in structural concrete. It is involved in several phenomena that affect the design of structural concrete elements, such as cracking, shear deformation or flexural deformation. In this work, the authors put forward a necessary change in the definition of the effective tension area of concrete provided by some groups of Standards

Designing compression structures by topological mapping

    Get PDF
The Force Density Method has been traditionally employed to seek the equilibrium shape of tension structures. Recently, the use of a process based on topology has been introduced to provide a first network in which the Force Density Method can be applied. Compression-only structures such as vaults and domes can also be modelled by means of the former approach if this is modified to get a design process similar to the Gaudí’s one based on hanging models. The conjunction of Topological Mapping and the Forced Density Method is first explained in the form-finding process of tension structures and, later on, the modifications to that approach are introduced so that an iterative procedure is obtained to get equilibrium shapes of compression-only structures. The versatility of this novel approach is presented by means of the analysis of some representative examples

Introducing asymmetric functionality into MOFs via the generation of metallic Janus MOF particles

    Get PDF
Herein we report a versatile methodology for engineering metallic Janus MOF particles based on desymmetrization at interfaces, whereby each MOF particle is partially coated with a desired metal. We demonstrate that it enables the fabrication of homogeneous Janus MOF particles according to the MOF (ZIF-8, UiO-66 or UiO-66-SH), the metal (Au, Co or Pt), the MOF particle size (from the micrometer to the submicrometer regime) and the metal-film thickness (from 5 nm to 50 nm) employed. We anticipate that our strategy could be applied to impart new functionalities to MOFs, including asymmetric functionalization, magnetic-guidance and motorization

Strength design optimization of structural steel members according to Eurocode3

In order to design a steel member subjected to a bending moment and an axial load, there are an infinite number of possible solutions of I- or H‐steel cross-sections, the doubly-symmetric solution being just one of them. This paper presents a procedure to obtain the optimal steel cross-section from the infinite number of possible solutions. The process is based on the Reinforcement Sizing Diagrams employed in reinforced concrete strength design. The procedure looks for any type of solution regarding compact or non-compact steel sections. All aspects related to local instabilities are taken into account, as well as some special considerations in order to address the global instabilities associated with the slenderness of the steel element. The present work was financed by the Spanish Ministry of Education. Currently, computer security or cybersecurity is a relevant aspect in the area of networks and communications of a company, therefore, it is important to know the risks and computer security policies that allow a unified management of cyber threats that only seek to affect the reputation or profit from the confidential information of organizations in the business sector. The objective of the research is to conduct a systematic review of the literature through articles published in databases such as Scopus and Dimension. Thus, in order to perform a complete documentary analysis, inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to evaluate the quality of each article. Then, using a quantitative scale, articles were filtered according to author, period and country of publication, leaving a total of 86 articles from both databases. The methodology used was the one proposed by Kitchenham, and the conclusion reached was that the vast majority of companies do not make a major investment in the purchase of equipment and improvement of information technology (IT) infrastructure, exposing themselves to cyber-attacks that continue to grow every day. This research provides an opportunity for researchers, companies and entrepreneurs to consult so that they can protect their organization's most important assets
