    339 p.Nuestro proyecto de Investigación consistió en medir la calidad de vida al interior de una organización, mediante la técnica denominada “Balance Social Interno”. Esta técnica fue aplicada a la Planta Iansa Linares. El resultado de esta investigación se basa en la determinación de indicadores generales y específicos, que se calcularon con información obtenida de una encuesta de opinión realizada con el personal de la Planta Iansa Linares y además de los registros internos propios de la empresa. Los resultados se presentan en un informe final análogo al balance Financiero, con los Activos y Pasivos, que en este caso son sociales, por lo que los resultados (Utilidad o Pérdida), no están expresados en términos monetarios, sino en un denominador especial llamado Unidades Standar de Satisfacción ( U.S.S.). La metodología usada en la realización del presente trabajo consistió primeramente en una investigación exploratoria (informal), mediante la cual sé recopilaron datos e información de fuentes secundarias. Posteriormente, como un segundo paso, se desarrolló una investigación formal, aplicando para ello una encuesta de opinión. Los resultados de esta encuesta fueron tabulados y analizados, para aceptar o rechazar las hipótesis planteadas inicialmente. Como resultado se entregaron conclusiones y sugerencias que se estimaron pertinentes tanto por breas funcionales como consolidada (a nivel general). Los resultados finales del Balance Social Interno Planta Iansa Linares, nos llevaron a concluir que en la empresa se le asigna gran importancia a la calidad de vida del personal, lo que se confirma con las 14.796,20 U.S.S. de superávit, que dio como resultado el Balance Social Interna. No obstante este resultado, existen varios aspectos que necesitan mejorar, lo cuales se mencionan con amplios detalles en este trabajo. Finalmente, nos permitimos decir que la aplicación de este Balance ayudaría a identificar las variables y los aspectos que son motivos de satisfacción (Activos) e insatisfacción (Pasivos). Esto permitirá a la empresa poder identificar cuales son las áreas que, necesitan más atención y as distribuir los recursos de manera eficiente, contribuyendo con esto a alcanzar la calidad total en la organización

    La vida humana es un don valioso e inviolable, ante la cual el hombre tiene la gran responsabilidad de custodiarla en todo momento; por ello, debe ser respetada y protegida de manera absoluta desde el momento de la concepción; por tal motivo hay necesidad de formarse adecuadamente para argumentar en favor de la vida y dignidad de toda persona. La presente investigación de paradigma positivista, con enfoque cuantitativo y de nivel descriptivo simple, tuvo como objetivo principal determinar las actitudes ante la dignidad del embrión humano en los estudiantes del nivel secundario de la Institución Educativa “Fernando Belaunde Terry” de Moyobamba- 2019. Para ello, se aplicó como instrumento una encuesta de 25 ítems con escala Tipo Likert a 146 estudiantes, donde se consideró las actitudes ante la dignidad del embrión humano en sus dos dimensiones: rechazo moral al aborto y aceptación pragmática al aborto. El instrumento se encuentra previamente validado, pues ha sido tomado del investigador Lirios García Cruz de su trabajo titulado “Actitudes hacia el aborto legal asistido”. Luego de su aplicación, se analizaron los resultados los cuales arrojaron que, aunque existe una conciencia de rechazo al aborto, pero hay ciertos indicadores que muestran la aceptación práctica del mismo, finalmente se concluyó que hay necesidad de elaborar una lista de propuesta de acciones educativas orientadas a mejorar las actitudes ante la dignidad de la vida naciente

    There are still significant manufacturing challenges impeding the rapid adoption of advanced therapies. The first day of leukapheresis product processing typically requires ~5 steps (~4-6 hours) and incurs significant cell loss prior to cell selection and/or activation steps. Here, we present data from our Curate® cell processing system, a single step process that yields \u3e2 fold more cells with comparable or better quality in under an hour. Aims: Granular cell tumor (GCT) is a rare neoplasm that can appear in any site of the body, but most are located intraorally. Its histogenetic origin remains unclear. This report analyzes the immunoprofile of 15 cases of granular cell tumors, occurring in 13 women and 2 men and the lesions were located on the tongue or upper lip. Patient age ranged from 7 to 52. Methods: The patients demographic data and the cytological and architectural features of the lesions were analyzed in oral GCTs (n = 15). The lesions were also submitted to a panel of immunohistochemical stains with antibodies against S-100, p75, NSE, CD-68, Ki-67, Synaptofisin, HHF-35, SMA, EMA, Chromogranin, Progesterone, Androgen and Estrogen. Results: Among the fifteen cases analyzed, the most common location was the tongue (84.6%). Histologically, the tumors exhibited cellular proliferation composed mainly by polygonal cells presenting an abundant granular eosinophilic cytoplasm. The nuclei were central, and the cell membranes were moderately clear. No mitotic figures were observed. The immunohistochemical analysis showed positivity in all cases for S-100, p75, NSE and CD-68, and no immunoreactivity for Ki-67, Synaptofisin, HHF-35, SMA, EMA, Chromogranin, Progesterone, Androgen and Estrogen. Conclusion: The immunoprofile of granular cell tumors showed nerve sheath differentiation ? lending support to their neural origin ? and helping to establish a differential diagnosis between this lesion and other oral granular cell tumors, whether benign or malignant

    Despite recent advances in therapy for chronic hepatitis C (CHC), the disease caused by genotype 3 virus (GEN3) is still considered a treatment challenge in certain patient subgroups. The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the peginterferon (Peg-IFN) and ribavirin (RBV) combination treatment for GEN3/CHC patients, and to evaluate sustained virological response (SVR) indicators and early treatment interruption due to serious adverse events (SAE). This was a retrospective observational study of GEN3/CHC patients, co-infected or not by HIV and treated with Peg-IFN/RBV in nine Brazilian healthcare centers. The study sample included 184 GEN3/CHC patients; 70 (38%) were co-infected with HIV. The overall SVR rate was 57.1% (95% CI 50-64). Among co-infected and mono-infected patients, the SVR rate was 51.4% (36/70) and 60.5% (69/114), respectively (p=0.241). Thirty-four (18.5%) patients experienced SAE and interrupted treatment. SVR was negatively associated with the use of Peg-IFN alpha 2b (PR 0.75; 95% CI 0.58-0.99; p=0.045) and to early treatment interruption due to SAE (PR 0.36; 95% CI 0.20-0.68; p=0.001). Early treatment interruption due to SAE was associated with age (PR 1.06; 95% CI 1.02-1.10;

In conclusion, Peg-IFN/RBV might represent an adequate treatment option, mainly in young patients without advanced liver disease or when the use of direct-action drugs is limited to specific patient groups.Univ Sul Santa Catarina, Fac Med, Dept Ciencias Biol & Saude & Ciencias Sociais Apl, Disciplina Doencas Infecciosas, Av Pedra Branca 25, BR-88137270 Palhoca, SC, BrazilUniv Fed Sao Paulo, Disciplina Infectol, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilUniv Sao Paulo, Fac Med, Div Gastroenterol & Hepatol, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilUniv Fed Estado Rio de Janeiro, Dept Clin Med, Disciplina Gastroenterol, Rio De Janeiro, RJ, BrazilUniv Fed Espirito Santo, Serv Infectol, Vitoria, ES, SpainUniv Sao Paulo, Fac Med Ribeirao Preto, Div Gastroenterol, Ribeirao Preto, SP, BrazilInst Infectol Emilio Ribas, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilUniv Sao Paulo, Fac Med, Dept Doencas Infecciosas & Parasitarias, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilSecretaria Estadual Saude, Unidade Mista Saude, Unimista 508 509, Brasilia, DF, BrazilUniv Sao Paulo, Inst Med Trop Sao Paulo, Lab Virol, LIM 52, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilUniv Fed Sao Paulo, Disciplina Infectol, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilWeb of Scienc

    Convergence of TCR and cytokine signaling leads to FOXO3a phosphorylation and drives the survival of CD4+ central memory T cells

    Get PDF
    The molecular events involved in the establishment and maintenance of CD4+ central memory and effector memory T cells (TCM and TEM, respectively) are poorly understood. In this study, we demonstrate that ex vivo isolated TCM are more resistant to both spontaneous and Fas-induced apoptosis than TEM and have an increased capacity to proliferate and persist in vitro. Using global gene expression profiling, single cell proteomics, and functional assays, we show that the survival of CD4+ TCM depends, at least in part, on the activation and phosphorylation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 5a (STAT5a) and forkhead box O3a (FOXO3a). TCM showed a significant increase in the levels of phosphorylation of STAT5a compared with TEM in response to both IL-2 (P < 0.04) and IL-7 (P < 0.002); the latter is well known for its capacity to enhance T cell survival. Moreover, ex vivo TCM express higher levels of the transcriptionally inactive phosphorylated forms of FOXO3a and concomitantly lower levels of the proapoptotic FOXO3a target, Bim. Experiments aimed at blocking FOXO3a phosphorylation confirmed the role of this phosphoprotein in protecting TCM from apoptosis. Our results provide, for the first time in humans, an insight into molecular mechanisms that could be responsible for the longevity and persistence of CD4+ TCM

    Neutrino Physics from Charged Higgs and Slepton Associated Production in AMSB

    Get PDF
    In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with bilinear R-Parity violation, terms that violate R-Parity and lepton number are introduced in the superpotential, and sneutrino vacuum expectation values are induced. As a result, neutrino masses and mixing angles are generated via a low energy see-saw mechanism. We show that this model embedded into an anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario is testable at a linear collider using charged Higgs boson production in association with a stau. This is possible in regions of parameter space where the charged Higgs and stau have similar mass, producing an enhancement of the charged scalar mixing angles. We show that the bilinear parameter and the sneutrino vev can be determined from charged scalar observables, and estimate the precision of this determination.Comment: 21 pages, including 8 figure
