Coma mixedematoso en el paciente con SARS-COV-2. Revisión de la literatura
Introduction: Coma mixedematoso represents the extreme manifestation of uncontrolled hypothyroidism, which can occur in patients who are experiencing a systemic illness such as SARS-COV-2, leading to increased patient mortality due to the fatal interaction between these two conditions when they coexist. Objective: To provide an updated overview of the diagnosis and management of coma mixedematoso in patients with SARS-COV-2. Methodology: A conceptual literature review on coma mixedematoso in SARS-COV-2 patients was conducted, extracting information from various scientific databases such as PubMed, Scielo, Science Direct, among others, using the PRISMA strategy. Results: In patients with SARS-COV-2 and coma mixedematoso, notable vital signs include bradycardia, hypotension, eutermia, and low oxygen saturation. This may result from the interaction between both conditions. Coma mixedematoso can be directly or indirectly triggered by the infection, especially in intensive care patients with respiratory distress syndrome. Therefore, evaluating thyroid function in SARS-COV-2 patients, particularly in severe cases, is crucial. Conclusion: Thyroid profile assessment should be considered in SARS-COV-2-infected patients due to the possibility of developing coma mixedematoso. This diagnosis should be considered in cases of altered consciousness with normal or low body temperature, even during an infection. In these patients, the prevalence of coma mixedematoso is higher in women (90% in analyzed cases), and the relationship between respiratory rate and oxygen saturation is not always inversely proportional. Hypotension is common (72.73%) and is often associated with a decrease in pulse pressure due to negative inotropic and chronotropic effects and vasoconstriction. Metodología. se realizó una revisión bibliográfica tipo conceptual, acerca del coma mixedematoso en el paciente con SARS-COV-2, extrayendo la información de diversas bases científicas de datos como: PubMed, Scielo, Science Direct, entre otros; mediante parte de la estrategia PRISMA. Resultados. en pacientes con SARS-COV-2 y coma mixedematoso, se observan signos vitales notables, como bradicardia, hipotensión, eutermia y baja saturación de oxígeno. Esto puede ser resultado de la interacción entre ambas patologías. El coma mixedematoso puede originarse directa o indirectamente debido a la infección, especialmente en pacientes en cuidados intensivos con síndrome de distrés respiratorio. Por lo tanto, es crucial evaluar la función tiroidea en pacientes con SARS-COV-2, especialmente en casos graves. Conclusión. En pacientes con infección por SARS-COV-2, se debe considerar la evaluación del perfil tiroideo debido a la posibilidad de desarrollar coma mixedematoso. Este diagnóstico debe tenerse en cuenta en casos de alteración de la conciencia con temperatura corporal normal o baja, incluso durante una infección. En estos pacientes, la prevalencia de coma mixedematoso es más alta en mujeres (90% en casos analizados), y la relación entre la frecuencia respiratoria y la saturación de oxígeno no es siempre inversamente proporcional. Optimization of the Bioactivation of Isoflavones in Soymilk by Lactic Acid Bacteria
Soybeans and soy-based products contain isoflavones which can be used for nutraceutical and medical applications. In soybeans and in unfermented soy foods, isoflavones are normally present as glycosides. Isoflavone glycosides can be enzymatically converted to isoflavone aglycones, thus releasing the sugar molecule. The effective absorption of isoflavones in humans requires the bioconversion of isoflavone glycosides to isoflavone aglycones through the activity of the enzyme β-glucosidase. The objective was to assess the capacity of 42 bacterial strains (belonging to Lactobacillus, Streptococcus and Enterococcus) to produce β-glucosidase activity. The strain that showed the highest β-glucosidase activity (Lactobacillus plantarum 128/2) was then used for the optimization of the bioconversion of genistin and daidzin present in commercial soymilk to their aglycone forms genistein and daidzein. The contribution of process parameters (temperature, inoculum size, time) to the efficiency of such bioactivation was tested. Lactobacillus plantarum 128/2 was able to completely bioactivate soymilk isoflavones under the following conditions: 25 °C temperature, 2% inoculum size and 48 h process time. These results confirm the suitability of lactic acid bacteria for the bioactivation of isoflavones present in soymilk and provide an interesting candidate (L. plantarum 182/2) for food industries to perform this transformation.Jon Kepa Izaguirre was the recipient of a predoctoral fellowship from the Basque Government
Economic and Environmental Assessment of Bacterial Poly(3-Hydroxybutyrate) Production from the Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste
The management of municipal solid waste is a major logistic and environmental problem worldwide. Nonetheless, the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) is a valuable source of nutrients which can be used for a variety of purposes, according to the Circular Economy paradigm. Among the possible applications, the bioproduction of a biodegradable polyester, poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) [P(3HB)], using OFMSW as carbon platform is a promising strategy. Here, an economic and environmental assessment of bacterial P(3HB) production from OFMSW is presented based on previously published results. The SuperPro Designer (R) software was used to simulate P(3HB) production under our experimental parameters. Two scenarios were proposed depending on the fermentation medium: (1) enzymatic hydrolysate of OFMSW supplemented with glucose and plum waste juice; and (2) basal medium supplemented with glucose and plum waste juice. According to our results, both scenarios are not economically feasible under our experimental parameters. In Scenario 1, the low fermentation yield, the cost of the enzymes, the labour cost and the energy consumption are the factors that most contribute to that result. In Scenario 2, the cost of the extraction solvent and the low fermentation yield are the most limiting factors. The possibility of using process waste as raw material for the generation of other products must be investigated to enhance economic feasibility. From an environmental viewpoint, the photochemical oxidation potential (derived from the use of anisole as extraction solvent) and the generation of acid rain and global warming effect (caused by the burning of fuels for power generation) are the most relevant impacts associated to P(3HB) production under our experimental parameters.Jon Kepa Izaguirre was the recipient of a predoctoral fellowship from the Basque Governmen
Observation of the doubly charmed baryon decay Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+
The Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+ decay is observed using proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb−1. The Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+ decay is reconstructed partially, where the photon from the Ξc′+→Ξc+γ decay is not reconstructed and the pK−π+ final state of the Ξc+ baryon is employed. The Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+branching fraction relative to that of the Ξcc++→Ξc+π+ decay is measured to be 1.41 ± 0.17 ± 0.10, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Test of lepton universality in decays
The first simultaneous test of muon-electron universality using
and decays is performed, in two ranges of the dilepton
invariant-mass squared, . The analysis uses beauty mesons produced in
proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and
2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 . Each
of the four lepton universality measurements reported is either the first in
the given interval or supersedes previous LHCb measurements. The

Study of charmonium and charmonium-like contributions in B+ → J/ψηK+ decays
A study of B+→ J/ψηK+ decays, followed by J/ψ → μ+μ− and η → γγ, is performed using a dataset collected with the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The J/ψη mass spectrum is investigated for contributions from charmonia and charmonium-like states. Evidence is found for the B+→ (ψ2(3823) → J/ψη)K+ and B+→ (ψ(4040) → J/ψη)K+ decays with significance of 3.4 and 4.7 standard deviations, respectively. This constitutes the first evidence for the ψ2(3823) → J/ψη decay

Precision measurement of violation in the penguin-mediated decay
A flavor-tagged time-dependent angular analysis of the decay
is performed using collision data collected
by the LHCb experiment at % at TeV, the center-of-mass energy of
13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb^{-1}. The
-violating phase and direct -violation parameter are measured
to be rad and
, respectively, assuming the same values
for all polarization states of the system. In these results, the
first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These parameters
are also determined separately for each polarization state, showing no evidence
for polarization dependence. The results are combined with previous LHCb
measurements using collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV,
yielding rad and . This is the most precise study of time-dependent violation
in a penguin-dominated meson decay. The results are consistent with
