Influence of Spin Wave Excitations on the Ferromagnetic Phase Diagram in the Hubbard-Model
The subject of the present paper is the theoretical description of collective
electronic excitations, i.e. spin waves, in the Hubbard-model. Starting with
the widely used Random-Phase-Approximation, which combines Hartree-Fock theory
with the summation of the two-particle ladder, we extend the theory to a more
sophisticated single particle approximation, namely the
Spectral-Density-Ansatz. Doing so we have to introduce a `screened`
Coulomb-interaction rather than the bare Hubbard-interaction in order to obtain
physically reasonable spinwave dispersions. The discussion following the
technical procedure shows that comparison of standard RPA with our new
approximation reduces the occurrence of a ferromagnetic phase further with

Dynamical Casimir effect with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions
We derive the radiation pressure force on a non-relativistic moving plate in
1+1 dimensions. We assume that a massless scalar field satisfies either
Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions (BC) at the instantaneous position of
the plate. We show that when the state of the field is invariant under time
translations, the results derived for Dirichlet and Neumann BC are equal. We
discuss the force for a thermal field state as an example for this case. On the
other hand, a coherent state introduces a phase reference, and the two types of
BC lead to different results.Comment: 12 page
Corporate governance compliance and disclosure in the banking sector: using data from Japan
Using regression model this study investigates which characteristics of a bank is associated with the extent of corporate governance disclosure in Japan. The findings suggest that on average 8 banks out of a sample of 46 disclose optimal corporate governance information. The regression model results reveal in general that non-executive directors, cross-ownership, capital adequacy ratio and type of auditors are associated with the extent of corporate governance disclosure. Of these four variables, non-executive directors have a more significant impact on the extent of disclosure contrary to total assets and audit firms of banks in the context of Japan. The findings of this paper are relevant for corporate regulators, professional associations and developers of corporate governance code when designing or updating corporate governance code
Dwarf Copper-Gold Porphyry Deposits of the Buchim-Damjan-Borov Dol Ore District, Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)
The metallogenic aspects, tectonic setting, magmatism, structure, and composition of Au-and Ag-bearing porphyry copper deposits in the Buchim-Damjan-Borov Dol ore district and their genetic features are considered and compared with earlier published data. Special attention is paid to supergene gold in heavy concentrate halos of the Borov Dol deposit. The total Cu reserves of the deposits discussed in this paper do not exceed 150 kt. The Buchim deposit likely is the world's smallest deposit of this type currently involved in mining. A comprehensive study of these dwarf porphyry copper deposits is undertaken to answer questions on the conditions of their formation. How do they differ from formation conditions of giant deposits
Annex 2 - Metrics and methodology
This annex on methods and metrics provides background information on material used in the Working Group III Contribution to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Fifth Assessment Report (WGIII AR5). The material presented in this annex documents metrics, methods, and common data sets that are typically used across multiple chapters of the report. The annex is composed of three parts: Part I introduces standards metrics and common definitions adopted in the report; Part II presents methods to derive or calculate certain quantities used in the report; and Part III provides more detailed background information about common data sources that go beyond what can be included in the chapters. While this structure may help readers to navigate through the annex, it is not possible in all cases to unambiguously assign a certain topic to one of these parts, naturally leading to some overlap between the parts
Study of relativistic bound states for scalar theories in Bethe-Salpeter and Dyson-Schwinger formalism
The Bethe-Salpeter equation for Wick-Cutkosky like models is solved in
dressed ladder approximation. The bare vertex truncation of the Dyson-Schwinger
equations for propagators is combined with the dressed ladder Bethe-Salpeter
equation for the scalar S-wave bound state amplitudes. With the help of
spectral representation the results are obtained directly in Minkowski space.
We give a new analytic formula for the resulting equation simplifying the
numerical treatment. The bare ladder approximation of Bethe-Salpeter equation
is compared with the one with dressed ladder. The elastic electromagnetic form

Carnot cycle for an oscillator
Carnot established in 1824 that the efficiency of cyclic engines operating
between a hot bath at absolute temperature and a bath at a lower
temperature cannot exceed . We show that linear
oscillators alternately in contact with hot and cold baths obey this principle
in the quantum as well as in the classical regime. The expression of the work
performed is derived from a simple prescription. Reversible and non-reversible

Formation of Sub-galactic Clouds under UV Background Radiation
The effects of the UV background radiation on the formation of sub-galactic
clouds are studied by means of one-dimensional hydrodynamical simulations. The
radiative transfer of the ionizing photons due to the absorption by HI, HeI and
HeII, neglecting the emission, is explicitly taken into account. We find that
the complete suppression of collapse occurs for the clouds with circular
velocities typically in the range V_c \sim 15-40 km/s and the 50% reduction in
the cooled gas mass with V_c \sim 20-55 km/s. These values depend most
sensitively on the collapse epoch of the cloud, the shape of the UV spectrum,
and the evolution of the UV intensity. Compared to the optically thin case,
previously investigated by Thoul & Weinberg (1996), the absorption of the
external UV photon by the intervening medium systematically lowers the above
threshold values by \Delta V_c \sim 5 km/s. Whether the gas can contract or
keeps expanding is roughly determined by the balance between the gravitational
force and the thermal pressure gradient when it is maximally exposed to the
external UV flux. Based on our simulation results, we discuss a number of
implications on galaxy formation, cosmic star formation history, and the
observations of quasar absorption lines. In Appendix, we derive analytical
formulae for the photoionization coefficients and heating rates, which

Linear Response Calculations of Spin Fluctuations
A variational formulation of the time--dependent linear response based on the
Sternheimer method is developed in order to make practical ab initio
calculations of dynamical spin susceptibilities of solids. Using gradient
density functional and a muffin-tin-orbital representation, the efficiency of
the approach is demonstrated by applications to selected magnetic and strongly
paramagnetic metals. The results are found to be consistent with experiment and
