General Analysis of Single Top Production and W Helicity in Top Decay
We provide a framework for the analysis of the W boson helicity in the decay
of the top quark that is based on a general effective tbW coupling. Four
independent coupling coefficients can be uniquely determined by the fractions
of longitudinal and transverse W boson polarizations as well as the single top
production rates for the t-channel and the s-channel processes. The knowledge
of these coefficients can be used to discriminate models of electroweak

Challenging the status quo: women's experiences of opting for a home birth in Andalucia, Spain
Objective
To explore the perceptions, beliefs and attitudes of women who opted for a home birth in Andalusia (Spain).
Background
Home birth is currently an unusual choice among Spanish women. It is not an option covered by the Spanish National Health Service and women who opt for a home birth have to pay for an independent midwife.
Design
A qualitative study with a phenomenological approach was adopted. All participants who took part in this study had chosen to have a home birth and given written consent to take part in the study.
Methods
Data collection was conducted in 2015–16. Face-to-face, semi-structured interviews were undertaken with women who chose a home birth in the last 5 years.
Findings
The sample consisted of thirteen women. Seven themes were created through analysis: 1. Getting informed about home birth; 2. Home birth as a choice, despite feeling unsupported; 3. The best way to have a personalized and a physiological birth; 4. Seeking a healing and empowering experience 5. The need for emotional safety, establishing a relationship and trusting the midwife; 6. Preparing for birth and working on fears; 7. Inequality of access (because of financial implications).
Conclusions
Women opted to plan birth at home because they wanted a personalised birth and control over their decision-making in labour, which they felt would not have been afforded to them in hospital settings. Andalusian maternity care leaders should strive to ensure that all pregnant women receive respectful and high-quality personalised care, by appropriately trained staff, both in the hospital and in the community
Analysis of tbW and ttZ couplings from CLEO and LEP-SLC data
We update the constraints on anomalous dimension four \tbw and \ttz couplings by using CLEO b \ra s \gamma and LEP/SLC precision -pole data. It is found that the data imposes very stringent bounds on them. Moreover, the pull from SM predictions of (hadrons), and (b) have little chance of being explained by the strongly constrained anomalous couplings
The Halo and Rings of the Planetary Nebula NGC 40 in the Mid-Infrared
We present imaging and spectroscopy of NGC 40 acquired using the Spitzer
Space Telescope (Spitzer), and the Infrared Space observatory (ISO). These are
used to investigate the nature of emission from the central nebular shell, from
the nebular halo, and from the associated circumnebular rings. It is pointed
out that a variety of mechanisms may contribute to the mid-infrared (MIR)
fluxes, and there is evidence for a cool dust continuum, strong ionic
transitions, and appreciable emission by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
(PAHs). Prior observations at shorter wavelengths also indicate the presence of
warmer grains, and the possible contribution of H2 transitions. It is suggested
that an apparent jet-like structure to the NE of the halo represents one of the
many emission spokes that permeate the shell. The spokes are likely to be
caused by the percolation of UV photons through a clumpy interior shell, whilst
the jet-like feature is enhanced due to locally elevated electron densities; a
result of interaction between NGC 40 and the interstellar medium. It is finally
noted that the presence of the PAH, 21 microns and 30 microns spectral features
testifies to appreciable C/O ratios within the main nebular shell. Such a
result is consistent with abundance determinations using collisionally excited

How much dark matter is there inside early-type galaxies?
We study the luminous mass as a function of the dynamical mass inside the
effective radius (r_e) of early-type galaxies (ETGs) to search for differences
between these masses. We assume Newtonian dynamics and that any difference
between these masses is due to the presence of dark matter. We use several
samples of ETGs -ranging from 19 000 to 98 000 objects- from the ninth data
release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We perform Monte Carlo (MC)
simulations of galaxy samples and compare them with real samples. The main
results are: i) MC simulations show that the distribution of the dynamical vs.
luminous mass depends on the mass range where the ETGs are distributed
(geometric effect). This dependence is caused by selection effects and
intrinsic properties of the ETGs. ii) The amount of dark matter inside r_e is
approximately 7% +- 22%. iii) This amount of dark matter is lower than the
minimum estimate (10%) found in the literature and four times lower than the
average (30%) of literature estimates. However, if we consider the associated

Measuring effective electroweak couplings in single top production at the LHC
We study the mechanism of single top production at the LHC in the framework
of an effective electroweak Lagrangian, analyzing the sensitivity of different
observables to the magnitude of the effective couplings that parametrize new
physics beyond the Standard Model. The observables relevant to the distinction
between left and right effective couplings involve in practice the measurement
of the spin of the top and this can be achieved only indirectly by measuring
the angular distribution of its decay products. We show that the presence of
effective right-handed couplings implies that the top is not in a pure spin
state. A unique spin basis is singled out which allows one to connect top decay
products angular distribution with the polarized top differential cross
section. We present a complete analytical expression of the differential
polarized cross section of the relevant perturbative subprocess including
general effective couplings. The mass of the bottom quark, which actually turns
out to be more relevant than naively expected, is retained. Finally we analyze
different aspects the total cross section relevant to the measurement of new
physics through the effective couplings. The above analysis also applies to
