Coefficient estimates for bi-univalent Ma-Minda starlike and convex functions
Estimates on the initial coefficients are obtained for normalized analytic
functions in the open unit disk with and its inverse
satisfying the conditions that and are both
subordinate to a starlike univalent function whose range is symmetric with
respect to the real axis. Several related classes of functions are also
considered, and connections to earlier known results are made
Singular measures and convolution operators
We show that in the study of certain convolution operators, functions can be
replaced by measures without changing the size of the constants appearing in
weak type (1,1) inequalities. As an application, we prove that the best
constants for the centered Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator associated to
parallelotopes do not decrease with the dimension.Comment: 8 page
Effect of delayed acquisition times on Gadolinium-enhanced MRI of the presumably normal canine brain
A delay in imaging following intravenous contrast medium administration has been recommended to reduce misdiagnoses. However, the normal variation of contrast enhancement in dogs following a delay has not been characterized. Contrast enhanced MR imaging of 22 dogs was assessed, in terms of identification of normal anatomic structures, to investigate the variation associated with 10 minute delay between contrast medium administration and imaging. All dogs had a normal brain MR imaging study and unremarkable CSF. Specific ROIs were assessed both objectively, using computer software, and subjectively using three observers. Mean contrast enhancement greater than 10% was seen in the pituitary gland, choroid plexus, meninges, temporal muscle, trigeminal nerve and the trigeminal nerve root. Structures with an active blood-brain-barrier had minimal contrast enhancement (<6%). Enhancing structures had significantly more contrast enhancement at t=1min versus t=10min, except in temporal muscle, the trigeminal nerve and the trigeminal nerve root. Inter-observer agreement was moderate to good in favor of the initial post contrast T1w sequence. The observers found either no difference or poor agreement in identification of the non-vascular structures. Intra-observer agreement was very good with all vascular structures and most non-vascular structures. A degree of meningeal enhancement was a consistent finding. The initial acquisition had higher enhancement characteristics and observer agreement for some structures; however, contrast-to-noise was comparable in the delayed phase or not significantly different. We provide baseline references and suggest that the initial T1w post contrast sequence is preferable but not essential should a delayed post contrast T1w sequence be performed
Participation in the Paid Labor Force by Caregivers of Children with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders
We explored the relationship between school-age children\u27s emotional and behavioral symptoms and workforce participation of their family caregivers using structural equation modeling. Secondary analysis of data from the national evaluation of the Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services for Children and Their Families Program was performed with a subsample of 2,585 caregivers. Findings from structural equation modeling indicated that higher levels of internalizing and externalizing symptoms were significant predictors of more frequent school absences, less adequate childcare, and greater caregiver strain related to missing work. In turn, more adequate childcare and greater caregiver strain from missed work were associated with lower likelihood of workforce participation. Further research on labor force participation and increased family support is necessary to improve work—life integration for caregivers of children with emotional and behavioral disorders. Future investigations should examine caregiver employment as a standard family outcome

analyse in detail the quantum version of the integration over the diagonal
subgroup, showing that although the quantum diagonal subgroups in fact never
exist, as noted earlier by Kasprzak and So{\l}tan, the corresponding
integration represented by a certain idempotent state on makes
sense as long as is of Kac type. Finally we analyse as an explicit
example the algebras , , associated to Wang's free

Cryo-EM structure of the mature dengue virus at 3.5-Å resolution.
Regulated by pH, membrane-anchored proteins E and M function during dengue virus maturation and membrane fusion. Our atomic model of the whole virion from cryo-electron microscopy at 3.5-Å resolution reveals that in the mature virus at neutral extracellular pH, the N-terminal 20-amino-acid segment of M (involving three pH-sensing histidines) latches and thereby prevents spring-loaded E fusion protein from prematurely exposing its fusion peptide. This M latch is fastened at an earlier stage, during maturation at acidic pH in the trans-Golgi network. At a later stage, to initiate infection in response to acidic pH in the late endosome, M releases the latch and exposes the fusion peptide. Thus, M serves as a multistep chaperone of E to control the conformational changes accompanying maturation and infection. These pH-sensitive interactions could serve as targets for drug discovery
Emergency and Disaster Services in Brookings County, South Dakota
The nature of disasters has changed over the years. There is a need for informing the general public of the nature of these changes so that they can be prepared for disasters that may be possible in the future. This thesis addresses the nature of these changes and what the response has been to each. An effort will be made to predict the types of disasters that may be most certain in the future. Most counties in South Dakota do not have written plans for their communities in the event of a disaster. Brookings County is one of the few that does. For some of the counties that are attempting to get their Emergency and Disaster Services and their county plans moving, Brookings County is the model they use. It is one of the best in the state of South Dakota. This thesis attempts to examine why emergency services are needed in Brookings County, and why a Emergency and Disaster Services program will continue to be important in the future. If there were no disasters in Brookings County, there would be no need for an Emergency and Disaster Service or the various plans that go with it for the future. When examining the geography of a given area, one is interested in more than just where something is located and why. All living organisms on the earth\u27s surface interrelate with one another in various ways. The purpose of this study is to investigate a small, but very important, aspect of a county\u27s future; how it can mitigate the losses of lives and property should a-disaster occur
The Beliefs and Practices of Second Grade Teachers Who Implement Independent Reading and Its Effect on Students’ Reading Achievement and Reading Volume
The purpose of the present study was to explore the beliefs and practices of teachers who implement independent reading in their classrooms. Results showed that teachers who implemented independent reading believed in the importance of both the quantity and quality of student reading. The teachers’ practices of independent reading showed students selecting books that were “just-right” for them to read, social experiences around reading, guided practice through reading conferences with the teacher, and setting a purpose for reading through response activities. A nonexperimental comparative design was used to examine the effects of independent reading on reading volume and reading achievement. Results indicated that there were no statistically significant effects between the independent reading group and the no independent reading group for reading achievement or reading volume. Additionally, there was no statistically significant difference in growth of reading achievement between higher and lower readers in the independent reading group
