Compared with vehicles powered by fuel, electric vehicles are more efficient in energy saving, emission reduction, and environmental protection. As a result, it is becoming most important with more applications in the transportation sector. As Electric vehicles usage is growing from day to day Electric vehicles (EVs) will become a reality in the future. The time taking the method of charging an EV becomes a major problem to accept the electronic revolution of the automobile industry. In this paper, we have discussed the various charging methods for an Electric vehicle, which also gives us a view of electric vehicle use in today’s world. It gives a brief overview of the present and methods recommended for EV charging

Over current protection of distribution system with impact of solar and wind generation using DIgSIlent power factory

The utilization of renewable resources has been growing very fast worldwide recently to manage the increasing energy gap, but it also raises some challenges like protection issues, transient stability issues and security issues in the power system operation. Mainly, wind and solar photovoltaic renewable power generation sources are account for bulky renewable energy share. The transients in power systems including renewables are reduced and have recently attracted wide attention. The impact of renewables generation on power system transients should be effectively analyzed and evaluated to improve power system reliability, stability, operation and security. DIgSILENT Power Factory software is more powerful and useful for providing phasor of fundamental power frequency components better than other existing software’s; therefore, DIgSILENT Power Factory is proposed for modeling and analysis of the system.&nbsp

Exploring Cost Reduction Options for On-Going Support Activities in Telecommunications Business

The increasing competition in the telecommunications service industry is driving telecommunications service providers towards more efficient and cost effective business processes. As a result, service providers need to evaluate their internal business processes with a notion to come up with innovative ideas to cut costs. This thesis, therefore, focuses on finding a way to reduce the total cost of ownership for a service contract to provide On-Going Support (OGS) services. A further aim is to describe and analyse the principal activities performed as part of an On-Going Support (OGS) agreement for maintaining the telecommunications billing solution at the case organization - a leading telecommunication billing product and service provider company. The method used in this study is action research, and the outcome of the study is a new OGS framework which is referred to as shared OGS methodology. The study first focused on an analysis of the existing OGS activities. Data related to the OGS activities was then collected from the OGS team members and based on the information thus collected, a detailed OGS activity map was prepared. The brainstorming sessions were conducted with a forum of technical experts and representatives of the management. The forum validated the OGS activity map and came up with a list of criteria for deciding which activities can be offshored. Improvement areas were further identified by comparing the existing OGS team structure with the new proposed structure which consists of a balanced mixture of onsite and offshore team members, working in tandem, led by Group Leaders or Experts working onsite. Finally, the information collected was used to find the gaps in the operations and to modify the existing business processes in such a way as to support the new OGS model

Effect of Load Model Using Ranking Identification Technique for Multi Type DG Incorporating Embedded Meta EP-Firefly Algorithm

    No full text
This paper presents the effect of load model prior to the distributed generation (DG) planning in distribution system. In achieving optimal allocation and placement of DG, a ranking identification technique was proposed in order to study the DG planning using pre-developed Embedded Meta Evolutionary Programming–Firefly Algorithm. The aim of this study is to analyze the effect of different type of DG in order to reduce the total losses considering load factor. To realize the effectiveness of the proposed technique, the IEEE 33 bus test systems was utilized as the test specimen. In this study, the proposed techniques were used to determine the DG sizing and the suitable location for DG planning. The results produced are utilized for the optimization process of DG for the benefit of power system operators and planners in the utility. The power system planner can choose the suitable size and location from the result obtained in this study with the appropriate company’s budget. The modeling of voltage dependent loads has been presented and the results show the voltage dependent load models have a significant effect on total losses of a distribution system for different DG type

Renewable energy systems are likely to become widespread in the future due to adverse environmental impacts and escalation in energy costs linked with the exercise of established energy sources. Solar and wind energy resources are alternative to each other which will have the actual potential to satisfy the load dilemma to some degree. However, such solutions any time researched independently are not entirely trustworthy because of their effect of unstable nature. In this context, autonomous photovoltaic and wind hybrid energy systems have been found to be more economically viable alternative to fulfill the energy demands of numerous isolated consumers worldwide. The aim of this paper is to give the idea of the hybrid system configuration, modeling, renewable energy sources, criteria for hybrid system optimization and control strategies, and software used for optimal sizing. A case study of comparative various standalone hybrid combinations for remote area Barwani, India also discussed and found PV–Wind–Battery–DG hybrid system is the most optimal solution regarding cost and emission among all various hybrid system combinations. This paper also features some of the near future improvements, which actually has the possibility to improve the actual monetary attraction connected with this sort of techniques and their endorsement by the consumer
