CLIL in teacher training: a Nottingham Trent University and University of Salamanca experience
As English tends to be regarded as a component of basic education, most European countries, Spain amongst them, are issuing legislation to establish the CLIL approach in educational settings. The article presents instances of the implementation of CLIL in the area of teacher training which stem from a long established cooperation between Nottingham Trent University and the University of Salamanca, to show how the CLIL potential can be enhanced and new levels of integration beyond subject and content can be achieved when CLIL initiatives are embedded in larger Language Teacher Education Frames of Reference thus bridging the gap between different cultural and pedagogical visions and making them socially relevant
Strategies of employer branding with temporary workers: Possibilities and obstacles towards their integration as branding ambassadors
This study analyses temporary employees’ perceptions and experiences with respect to temporary employment companies (TECs), which contract them, and to the companies where they provide their services. Their level of possible integration in the strategies of employer branding in both types of companies is analysed. To that end, both the causes for their satisfaction or dissatisfaction with those companies have been studied and the temporary employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) has been analysed in order to determine to what extent they may act as a company branding ambassador. This analysis has been carried out on the basis of two investigations conducted among employees from the same TEC before and after the Covid-19 pandemics, which has allowed us to count on a series of values to identify trends and, at the same time, to ascertain their impact on this type of employees caused by such a dramatic and global event as the recent pandemics started in 2020. With this in mind, we have reached a set of conclusions on how to improve the integration of this type of workers in companies through the improvement of internal communication and the strengthening of the corporative culture to foster their role as branding ambassadors in the companies where they operate.El trabajo analiza las percepciones y experiencias de los empleados temporales respecto a las empresas de trabajo temporal que los contratan y respecto a las empresas en las que prestan sus servicios. Se analiza el nivel de su posible integración en las estrategias de employer branding de ambos tipos de empresa. Para ello, se han estudiado las causas de su satisfacción o insatisfacción con las compañías y se ha analizado el eNPS (employer Net Promoter Score) del trabajador temporal para determinar en qué medida puede actuar como embajador de la marca de las empresas. Este análisis se ha llevado a cabo a partir de dos investigaciones realizadas entre trabajadores de la misma empresa de trabajo temporal antes y después de la pandemia de la Covid-19, lo que nos ha permitido contar con una serie de valores para determinar tendencias y, al mismo tiempo, conocer el impacto en este tipo de trabajadores de una circunstancia tan dramática y global como la reciente pandemia que empezó en 2020. A partir de ello hemos obtenido una serie de conclusiones sobre cómo optimizar la integración de este tipo de trabajadores en las empresas, a través de la mejora de la comunicación interna y el fortalecimiento de la cultura corporativa, para favorecer así su papel como embajadores de la marca de las compañías en las que desarrollan su labor
Ingested insecticide to control Aedes aegypti: developing a novel dried attractive toxic sugar bait device for intra-domiciliary control

Background: Illnesses transmitted by Aedes aegypti (Linnaeus, 1762) such as dengue, chikungunya and Zika comprise a considerable global burden; mosquito control is the primary public health tool to reduce disease transmission. Current interventions are inadequate and insecticide resistance threatens the effectiveness of these options. Dried attractive bait stations (DABS) are a novel mechanism to deliver insecticide to Ae. aegypti. The DABS are a high-contrast 28 inch2 surface coated with dried sugar-boric acid solution. Aedes aegypti are attracted to DABS by visual cues only, and the dried sugar solution elicits an ingestion response from Ae. aegypti landing on the surface. The study presents the development of the DABS and tests of their impact on Ae. aegypti mortality in the laboratory and a series of semi-field trials. Methods: We conducted multiple series of laboratory and semi-field trials to assess the survivability of Ae. aegypti mosquitoes exposed to the DABS. In the laboratory experiments, we assessed the lethality, the killing mechanism, and the shelf life of the device through controlled experiments. In the semi-field trials, we released laboratory-reared female Ae. aegypti into experimental houses typical of peri-urban tropical communities in South America in three trial series with six replicates each. Laboratory experiments were conducted in Quito, Ecuador, and semi-field experiments were conducted in Machala, Ecuador, an area with abundant wild populations of Ae. aegypti and endemic arboviral transmission. Results: In the laboratory, complete lethality was observed after 48 hours regardless of physiological status of the mosquito. The killing mechanism was determined to be through ingestion, as the boric acid disrupted the gut of the mosquito. In experimental houses, total mosquito mortality was greater in the treatment house for all series of experiments (P \u3c 0.0001). Conclusions: The DABS devices were effective at killing female Ae. aegypti under a variety of laboratory and semi-field conditions. DABS are a promising intervention for interdomiciliary control of Ae. aegypti and arboviral disease prevention.[Figure not available: see fulltext.
Compositional analysis of InAs-GaAs-GaSb heterostructures by low-loss electron energy loss spectroscopy
As an alternative to Core-Loss Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy, Low-Loss EELS is suitable for compositional analysis of complex heterostructures, such as the InAs-GaAs-GaSb system, since in this energy range the edges corresponding to these elements are better defined than in Core-Loss. Furthermore, the analysis of the bulk plasmon peak, which is present in this energy range, also provides information about the composition. de Sitter relativity: a natural scenario for an evolving Lambda
The dispersion relation of de Sitter special relativity is obtained in a
simple and compact form, which is formally similar to the dispersion relation
of ordinary special relativity. It is manifestly invariant under change of
scale of mass, energy and momentum, and can thus be applied at any energy
scale. When applied to the universe as a whole, the de Sitter special
relativity is found to provide a natural scenario for the existence of an
evolving cosmological term, and agrees in particular with the present-day
observed value. It is furthermore consistent with a conformal cyclic view of
the universe, in which the transition between two consecutive eras occurs

The Bulge-Disk Orthogonal Decoupling in Galaxies: NGC 4698
The R-band isophotal map of the Sa galaxy NGC 4698 shows that the inner
region of the bulge structure is elongated perpendicularly to the major axis of
the disk, this is also true for the outer parts of the bulge if a parametric
photometric decomposition is adopted. At the same time the stellar component is
characterized by an inner velocity gradient and a central zero-velocity plateau
along the minor and major axis of the disk respectively. This remarkable
geometric and kinematic decoupling suggests that a second event occurred in the

de Sitter special relativity
A special relativity based on the de Sitter group is introduced, which is the
theory that might hold up in the presence of a non-vanishing cosmological
constant. Like ordinary special relativity, it retains the quotient character
of spacetime, and a notion of homogeneity. As a consequence, the underlying
spacetime will be a de Sitter spacetime, whose associated kinematics will
differ from that of ordinary special relativity. The corresponding modified
notions of energy and momentum are obtained, and the exact relationship between
them, which is invariant under a re-scaling of the involved quantities,
explicitly exhibited. Since the de Sitter group can be considered a particular
deformation of the Poincar\'e group, this theory turns out to be a specific
kind of deformed (or doubly) special relativity. Some experimental
consequences, as well as the causal structure of spacetime--modified by the

AGRONOMIC EVALUATION AND CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF AFRICAN STAR GRASS (Cynodon plectostachyus) IN THE SOUTHERN REGION OF THE STATE OF MEXICO
African Star Grass is one of the forage resources most commonly used by farmers in regions with warm-humid climates. This study was carried out to determine the nutritional and agronomic characteristics of African Star Grass (Cynodon plectostachyus) through the following variables: crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), organic matter digestibility (OMD), net forage accumulation (NFA), stem:leaf ratio, and live:dead matter ratio in the three pastures evaluated. The work took place from April 2007 to March 2008, with evaluations carried out on a monthly basis. The data were analyzed in a randomized block design in which the blocks were the pastures, and the treatments were the months of evaluation. There were no differences between the pastures evaluated for the NDF, ADF or OMD (P>0.05). Differences were found, however, in CP, while in the monthly evaluation, differences were found between the periods evaluated (P<0.05) for these variables. Differences were also found in the agronomic evaluation of pastures (P<0.05) among height of pasture, net forage accumulation (NFA), live matter, dead matter, leaf and stem, both among pastures and in the monthly evaluations. African Star Grass can therefore be considered a good choice for milk production systems in the southern region of the state of Mexico, due to its nutritional and agronomic characteristics
Synthesis and Structure of Trinuclear W3S4 Clusters Bearing Aminophosphine Ligands and Their Reactivity toward Halides and Pseudohalides
The aminophosphine ligand (2-aminoethyl)- diphenylphosphine (edpp) has been coordinated to the W3(μ-
S)(μ-S)3 cluster unit to afford trimetallic complex [W3S4Br3(edpp)3]+ (1+) in a one-step synthesis process with high yields. Related [W3S4X3(edpp)3]+ clusters (X = F−, Cl−, NCS−; 2+−4+) have been isolated by treating 1+ with the
corresponding halide or pseudohalide salt. The structure of complexes 1+ to 4+ contains an incomplete W3S4 cubane-type cluster unit, and only one of the possible isomers is formed: the one with the phosphorus atoms trans to the capping sulfur and the amino groups trans to the bridging sulphurs. The remaining coordination position on each metal is occupied by X. Detailed studies using stopped-flow, 31P{1H} NMR, and ESI-MS have been carried out in order to understand the solution behavior and the kinetics of interconversion among species 1+, 2+, 3+, and 4+ in solution. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been also carried out on the reactions of cluster 1+ with the different anions. The whole set of experimental and theoretical data indicate that the actual mechanism of substitutions in these clusters is strongly dependent on the nature of the leaving and entering anions. The interaction between an entering F− and the amino group coordinated to the adjacent metal have also been found to be especially relevant to the kinetics of these reactions
Relaxation Height in Energy Landscapes: an Application to Multiple Metastable States
The study of systems with multiple (not necessarily degenerate) metastable
states presents subtle difficulties from the mathematical point of view related
to the variational problem that has to be solved in these cases. We introduce
the notion of relaxation height in a general energy landscape and we prove
sufficient conditions which are valid even in presence of multiple metastable
states. We show how these results can be used to approach the problem of
multiple metastable states via the use of the modern theories of metastability.
We finally apply these general results to the Blume--Capel model for a
particular choice of the parameters ensuring the existence of two multiple, and
not degenerate in energy, metastable states
