Glavonošci kao plijen glavate želve, Caretta caretta (Reptilia: Cheloniidae), iz istočnog Tirenskog mora

This study presents the results of the examination of cephalopod remains extracted from the digestive tract of 40 loggerhead turtles, Caretta caretta, stranded along the Campanian coasts (Southern Italy, eastern Tyrrhenian Sea). We retrieved the remains of 23 cephalopods from 16 turtles (frequency of occurrence = 40%). They belonged to Sepia officinalis (19 specimens) and Octopus vulgaris (2 specimens), both of them benthic neritic species, and Histioteuthis reversa (2 specimens), an oceanic species. Accordingly, loggerheads appear to feed both on the bottom, seemingly in shallow waters, and in the open seawater column; both on muscular items (S. officinalis and O. vulgaris) and ammoniacal ones (H. reversa). This is the first record of H. reversa as a prey of the loggerhead turtle.Ova studija prikazuje rezultate istraživanja ostataka plijena izvađenih iz probavila 40 glavatih želvi, Caretta caretta, nasukanih duž obala Kampanije (južna Italija, istočno Tirensko more). Iz 16 kornjača izvadili smo ostatke 23 glavonošca (učestalost pojavljivanja = 40%). Pripadali su vrstama Sepia officinalis (19 primjeraka) i Octopus vulgaris (2 primjerka), koje su obje bentoske neritičke vrste, kao i oceanskoj vrsti Histioteuthis reversa (2 primjerka). Prema tome, čini se da se glavate želve hrane na dnu, vjerovatno u plitkim vodama, kao i u stupcu otvorenih morskih voda; i to mišićavim plijenom (S. officinalis i O. vulgaris) kao i plijenom bogatim amonijakom (H. reversa). Additive Manufacturing of Poly(Methyl Methacrylate) Biomedical Implants with Dual-Scale Porosity

The development of bone permanent implants with a porous structure favoring their integration with the surrounding tissues is emerging as an attractive field of application of additive manufacturing (AM). This article reports on the investigation of the suitability of a hybrid AM technique, that is, computer-aided wet-spinning (CAWS), to fabricate novel poly(methyl meth- acrylate) (PMMA) constructs as porous implant prototypes. The optimization of the processing parameters to fabricate PMMA samples with a predefined internal porous structure and different external shapes is described. The study demonstrates that tailoring post-processing conditions represents a powerful tool to optimize samples macroscopic aspect, micromorphology, and mechanical properties. In particular, the possibility of obtaining a dual-scale porosity through the integration of the macroporous structure determined by the material lay-down pattern with a submicrometric porosity resulting from the phase inversion process governing polymer solidification, together with the possibility of purifying the employed commercial material from residual monomer during coagulation in ethanol, are reported as note- worthy advantages of CAWS over other AM techniques. A natural progression of this work is the development of relevant complex anatomical prototypes with tailored porosity by processing digital data obtained from computer tomography imaging of bone defects

A fitting algorithm for random modeling the PLC channel

The characteristics of the power-line communication (PLC) channel are difficult to model due to the heterogeneity of the networks and the lack of common wiring practices. To obtain the full variability of the PLC channel, random channel generators are of great importance for the design and testing of communication algorithms. In this respect, we propose a random channel generator that is based on the top-down approach. Basically, we describe the multipath propagation and the coupling effects with an analytical model. We introduce the variability into a restricted set of parameters and, finally, we fit the model to a set of measured channels. The proposed model enables a closed-form description of both the mean path-loss profile and the statistical correlation function of the channel frequency response. As an example of application, we apply the procedure to a set of in-home measured channels in the band 2-100 MHz whose statistics are available in the literature. The measured channels are divided into nine classes according to their channel capacity. We provide the parameters for the random generation of channels for all nine classes, and we show that the results are consistent with the experimental ones. Finally, we merge the classes to capture the entire heterogeneity of in-home PLC channels. In detail, we introduce the class occurrence probability, and we present a random channel generator that targets the ensemble of all nine classes. The statistics of the composite set of channels are also studied, and they are compared to the results of experimental measurement campaigns in the literature

Acrobustitis en un toro Bos indicus

17 páginas : gráficas, fotografíasLa acrobustitis es una patología que afecta la mucosa parietal y anterior del prepucio con posible afección tegumentaria que puede afectar la protrusión del pene. Dentro de las causas predisponentes de esta patología son por alteraciones morfología genéticas, traumatismos, falta de higiene y patógenos que producen signos de prurito que empeoran el cuadro reproductivo del toro; siendo de gran importancia para los productores de ganado bovino con mayor predisposición en razas Bos Indicus debido a que presentan fenotípicamente un prepucio colgante y largo, patología ocurrida a un toro Brahmán rojo de este reporte de caso, de 3 años de edad, proveniente del municipio de Guateque (Boyacá). El propietario reporta que el paciente lleva varios días con dificultad para realizar la monta natural y presenta inflamación a nivel del prepucio, durante el examen clínico reproductivo se evidenció una fimosis e inflamación del prepucio y la cabeza del pene (acrobustitis). Se decide instaurar tratamiento farmacológico con Penicilina G Sódica y Procaínica a una dosis de 20.000 UI/kg, estreptomicina Sulfato a dosis de 10 mg/kg, flunixin meglumine a una dosis 2,2 mg/kg, lavado con yodo solución, vendaje de sudor y crioterapia con hielo durante 7 días. Al evaluar el tratamiento farmacológico no se detectó mejoría alguna por ende se decide intervenir quirúrgicamente al paciente haciendo una postiectomía o postectomia. Durante el postoperatorio al momento de retirar los puntos se observa que desarrolló un absceso periprepucial el cual fue drenado, se instaura tratamiento terapéutico y se recomienda 60 días más de reposo, después de este tiempo se le hace un examen reproductivo y colecta seminal por Electroyaculación diagnosticando la no aptitud de monta pero con condiciones óptimas seminales para congelación logrando congelar 27 dosis seminales y su uso en inseminación artificial rescatando su valor genético en el laboratorio de Biotecnología y Reproducción Animal de la U.D.C.A.Acrobustitis is a pathology affecting the parietal and anterior mucosa of the foreskin with possible tegumentary involvement that can affect the protrusion of the penis. Among the predisposing causes of this pathology are genetic morphological alterations, trauma, lack of hygiene and pathogens that produce signs of pruritus that worsen the bull's reproductive picture. It is of great importance for cattle producers with a greater predisposition to Bos Indicus breeds because they present a phenotypically long hanging foreskin, a pathology that occurred to a 3 year old red Brahman bull in this case report, from the municipality of Guateque (Boyacá). The owner reports that the patient has been having difficulty with natural mating for several days and presents inflammation at the level of the foreskin. During the clinical reproductive examination, phimosis and inflammation of the foreskin and head of the penis (acrobustitis) were evident. It was decided to establish pharmacological treatment with Sodium Penicillin G and Procaine at a dose of 20,000 IU/kg, streptomycin sulfate at a dose of 10 mg/kg, flunixin meglumine at a dose of 2.2 mg/kg, washing with iodine solution, sweat bandage and cryotherapy with ice for 7 days. When evaluating the pharmacological treatment no improvement was detected so it is decided to intervene surgically on the patient by doing a postiectomy or postectomy. During the postoperative period, when the stitches are removed, it is observed that a peripreputial abscess has developed, which was drained. Therapeutic treatment is established and 60 more days of rest are recommended, after which a reproductive exam is performed and the semen is collected by electrojaculation, diagnosing the unfitness of the patient to ride, but with optimal conditions for freezing the semen, managing to freeze 27 seminal doses and their use in artificial insemination, rescuing their genetic value in the laboratory of Biotechnology and Animal Reproduction of the U.D.C.AIncluye bibliografíaPregradoMédico(a) Veterinario Zootecnist

El intérprete se define por tres rasgos fundamentales: el conocimiento de las lenguas origen y meta, el conocimiento de la cultura de dichas lenguas y la formación académica. Esta tesis también investiga sobre la formación académica que reciben los futuros intérpretes en las diferentes universidades en Lima y brinda recomendaciones para contribuir a la solución los problemas que se originan en las clases de interpretación
