Charging a Double Kerr Solution in 5D Einstein--Maxwell--Kalb--Ramond Theory

We consider the low-energy effective action of the 5D Einstein-Maxwell-Kalb-Ramond theory. After compactifying this truncated model on a two-torus and switching off the U(1) vector fields of this theory, we recall a formulation of the resulting three-dimensional action as a double Ernst system coupled to gravity. Further, by applying the so-called normalized Harrison transformation on a generic solution of this double Ernst system we recover the U(1) vector field sector of the theory. Afterward, we compute the field content of the generated charged configuration for the special case when the starting Ernst potentials correspond to a pair of interacting Kerr black holes, obtaining in this way an exact field configuration of the 5D Einstein-Maxwell-Kalb-Ramond theory endowed with effective Coulomb and dipole terms with momenta. Expression of the metalloproteases MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-9, MMP-11, TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 in angiocentric midfacial lymphomas

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Extranodal T/NK cell lymphomas possess distinctive clinico-pathological characteristics: they are angiocentric, exhibit extensive necrosis. Prognosis is poor in the short term. The objective is to explore the expression of different MMPs in the cells and stroma which are around of the blood vessels damaged and their correlation with clinico-pathological parameters.</p> <p>Patients and methods</p> <p>Twenty cases of this type of lymphomas were studied and collected patient clinical data. The expressions of MMP-1, 2, 3, 9, 11, 13 and TIMP-1, 2 were studied by immunohistochemistry. Ultrastructural studies were performed in two cases. Statistical analysis was done with Fisher's exact test, Chi²test.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Of the 20 patients, 13 were men with median age of 43 years. In 13 patients the primary tumor was localized in the nasal cavity. Treatment was combined chemotherapy and radiotherapy in 60%. The 55% advanced clinical stages, 70% died from the disease. There were neoplastic cell and peritumoral fibroblasts positivity to MMP-1 and MMP-11 in most of the cases. The MMPs-2, 3 and 9 were expressed in neoplastic cell between 30 to 65%of the cases. TIMP-1 was presented mainly in the epithelium and TIMP-2 was poor expressed of the all cases.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>There were no statistical significance between the different enzymes used and the clinical parameters, besides status and survival of the patients. It is necessary to study more enzymes and focus them to quantify and determine their activity, in order to have a better correlation with histological features in this type of neoplasm.</p

In vitro secretion profiles of interleukin (IL)-1beta, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, and TNF alpha after selective infection with Escherichia coli in human fetal membranes

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Chorioamniotic membranes infection is a pathologic condition in which an abnormal secretion of proinflammatory cytokines halts fetal immune tolerance. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the functional response of human chorioamniotic membranes, as well as the individual contribution of the amnion and choriodecidua after stimulation with Escherichia coli, a pathogen associated with preterm labor.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Explants of chorioamniotic membranes from 10 women (37–40 weeks of gestation) were mounted and cultured in a Transwell system, which allowed us to test the amnion and choriodecidua compartments independently. Escherichia coli (1 × 10 6 CFU/mL) was added to either the amniotic or the choriodecidual regions or both; after a 24-h incubation, the secretion of IL-1beta, IL-6, TNFalpha, IL-8, and IL-10 in both compartments was measured using a specific ELISA. Data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>After stimulation with Escherichia coli, the choriodecidua compartment showed an increase in the secretion of IL-1beta (21-fold), IL-6 (2-fold), IL-8 (6-fold), and IL-10 (37-fold), regardless of which side of the membrane was stimulated; TNFalpha secretion augmented (22-fold) also but only when the stimulus was applied simultaneously to both sides. When the amnion was stimulated directly, the level of IL-1beta (13-fold) rose significantly; however, the increase in IL-8 secretion was larger (20-fold), regardless of the primary site of infection. TNFalpha secretion in the amnion compartment rose markedly only when Escherichia coli was simultaneously applied to both sides.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Selective stimulation of fetal membranes with Escherichia coli results in a differential production of IL-1beta, IL-6, TNFalpha, IL-8, and IL-10. These tissues were less responsive when the amnion side was stimulated. This is in agreement with the hypothesis that the choriodecidua may play a primary role during an ascending intrauterine infection, being the main barrier to progression of the infection into the amniotic cavity. Therefore, the tissue-specific capacities for the secretion of these immune modulators could be a determining factor for the degree of severity of the inflammation process in fetal membranes.</p

Las rentas irregulares en el nuevo IRPF

Accésit Premio Estudios Financieros 1999 El tratamiento fiscal de las rentas irregulares en la Ley 40/1998, tanto de los rendimientos como de las ganancias patrimoniales, ha supuesto una innovación, frente al anterior régimen, de imprevisibles consecuencias. Se ha apostado por la simplicidad en la configuración de la base imponible pero a costa de vulnerar principios constitucionales de justicia tributaria, entre otros, los de capacidad económica e igualdad. En los rendimientos, el establecimiento de distintos porcentajes reductores en función del factor generador supone una nueva complicación de tipo aritmético, al tiempo que se aleja de su finalidad -corregir la progresividad- convirtiéndose en una suerte de beneficio fiscal para determinados productos financieros, en los que la reducción llega al 70 por 100. En las ganancias de patrimonio, la tributación separada al 20 por 100 supone un privilegio del capital frente al trabajo. Finalmente, el nuevo régimen de integración y compensación de rentas discrimina al empresario individual frente al constituido en sociedad. Electrodepósito de níquel negro sobre aletas de cobre para aplicaciones en colectores solares planos

CIES2020 - XVII Congresso Ibérico e XIII Congresso Ibero-americano de Energia SolarRESUMEN: En este trabajo se reporta el desempeño de colectores solares construidos con aletas de cobre recubiertas con níquel/níquel negro con y sin SiO2. Los recubrimientos de níquel y níquel negro fueron obtenidos mediante electrodepósito y la capa de SiO2 por sol-gel y roció pirolítico, los resultados se comparan con un colector construido con un recubrimiento selectivo comercial TiNOX. Los resultados muestran que el níquel negro con SiO2 tiene una curva de desempeño cercana al colector construidos con el recubrimiento comercial. El recubrimiento de níquel negro con SiO2 fue obtenido por técnicas de bajo costo lo cual pudiera ser atractivo para las empresas dedicadas a la construcción de colectores solares.ABSTRACT: This work reports the performance of solar collectors built with nickel / black nickel coated copper fins with and without SiO2. The nickel and black nickel coatings were obtained by electrodeposition, the SiO2 layer by sol-gel and spray pyrolysis methods, the results are compared with a collector built with a commercial selective coating TiNOX. The results show that black nickel with SiO2 have a near performance curve than the collector built with the commercial coating. Up-Regulation and Profibrotic Role of Osteopontin in Human Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

BACKGROUND: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive and lethal disorder characterized by fibroproliferation and excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix in the lung. METHODS AND FINDINGS: Using oligonucleotide arrays, we identified osteopontin as one of the genes that significantly distinguishes IPF from normal lungs. Osteopontin was localized to alveolar epithelial cells in IPF lungs and was also significantly elevated in bronchoalveolar lavage from IPF patients. To study the fibrosis-relevant effects of osteopontin we stimulated primary human lung fibroblasts and alveolar epithelial cells (A549) with recombinant osteopontin. Osteopontin induced a significant increase of migration and proliferation in both fibroblasts and epithelial cells. Epithelial growth was inhibited by the pentapeptide Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser (GRGDS) and antibody to CD44, while fibroproliferation was inhibited by GRGDS and antibody to α(v)β(3) integrin. Fibroblast and epithelial cell migration were inhibited by GRGDS, anti-CD44, and anti-α(v)β(3). In fibroblasts, osteopontin up-regulated tissue inhibitor of metalloprotease-1 and type I collagen, and down-regulated matrix metalloprotease-1 (MMP-1) expression, while in A549 cells it caused up-regulation of MMP-7. In human IPF lungs, osteopontin colocalized with MMP-7 in alveolar epithelial cells, and application of weakest link statistical models to microarray data suggested a significant interaction between osteopontin and MMP-7. CONCLUSIONS: Our results provide a potential mechanism by which osteopontin secreted from the alveolar epithelium may exert a profibrotic effect in IPF lungs and highlight osteopontin as a potential target for therapeutic intervention in this incurable disease

De ahí que, la educación y las cualificaciones del capital humano, los cambios en la organización de la producción y la calidad institucional, sean elementos nodales para avanzar en la consolidación de este ambiente productivo
