Concepção de corporeidade/subjetividade humana: contribuição da epistemologia complexa para o campo da Educação Física

This essay aims to advance in the dialogues between complex epistemology and the field of knowledge of Physical Education, from the conception of human corporeality/subjectivity. This is a theoretical study carried out through bibliographic research on the work of Edgar Morin, especially the six volumes of The Method, on which this proposal was based. The scenario of debates on the theme of corporeality in the field of Physical Education was contextualized, in which it is intended to introduce the concept in question. This conception is the result of the theoretical articulation of the concepts of corporeality/subjectivity of the individual and of social subjectivity. With this proposition that assumes the paradigm of self-organized complex systems, it is hoped to establish dialogues with other theoretical perspectives, bridges with other areas of knowledge and to point out ways to think about pedagogical practice in its different areas of professional acting.El objetivo de este ensayo es avanzar en los diálogos entre la epistemología compleja y el campo de conocimiento de la Educación Física, a partir de la concepción de corporeidad/subjetividad humana. Se trata de un estudio teórico realizado mediante investigación bibliográfica de la obra de Edgar Morin, sobre todo de los seis tomos de "El método", con el cual se fundamentó dicha propuesta. Se contextualizó el escenario de los debates sobre el tema de la corporeidad en el campo de la Educación Física, donde se pretende introducir esa concepción. Esta concepción es el resultado de la articulación teórica de los conceptos de corporeidad/subjetividad del individuo y de subjetividad social. Con esta proposición, que asume el paradigma de los sistemas complejos autoorganizados, se espera establecer diálogos con otras perspectivas teóricas, puentes con otras áreas del conocimiento y señalar caminos para pensar la práctica pedagógica en sus diferentes áreas de actuación.Este ensaio tem como objetivo avançar nos diálogos entre a epistemologia complexa e o campo de conhecimento da Educação Física, a partir da concepção de corporeidade/subjetividade humana. Conformal prediction of option prices

The uncertainty associated with option price predictions has largely been overlooked in the literature. This paper aims to fill this gap by quantifying such uncertainty using conformal prediction. Conformal prediction is a model-agnostic procedure that constructs prediction intervals, ensuring valid coverage in finite samples without relying on distributional assumptions. Through the simulation of synthetic option prices, we find that conformal prediction generates prediction intervals for gradient boosting machines with an empirical coverage close to the nominal level. Conversely, non-conformal prediction intervals exhibit empirical coverage levels that fall short of the nominal target. In other words, they fail to contain the actual option price more frequently than expected for a given coverage level. As anticipated, we also observe a decrease in the width of prediction intervals as the size of the training data increases. However, we uncover significant variations in the width of these intervals across different options. Specifically, out-of-the-money options and those with a short time-to-maturity exhibit relatively wider prediction intervals. Then, we perform an empirical study using American call and put options on individual stocks. Relationship between remote e-working and burnout symptoms: The mediating role of work-family conflict and perceived psychological contract breach: A study with international workers

Although the effects of the pandemic are still being felt, the world has been adapting to a new way of living and working. Remote e-work is now seen as an integral part of the present and future of organisations. Studies have shown that remote e-work can have positive effects on employees lives and there are dimensions during remote e-work that can lead individuals to experience more positive emotions than negative ones. This study assessed the relationship of three dimensions of remote e-work - organisational trust, flexibility, and work-life interference - with exhaustion through the mediating effect of the work-family conflict and through the mediating effect of perceived psychological contract breach. For this purpose, a quantitative study (N = 146) was developed, targeting employees who have at some point experienced remote e-work, either fully or partially, regardless of their nationality or geographic location. All hypotheses were supported, except the hypotheses that work-life interference in remote e-work is negatively related to exhaustion and that work-family conflict mediates the relationship between work-life interference in remote e-work and exhaustion. The results suggested that flexibility and organisational trust in remote e-work are negatively related to exhaustion and that work-family conflict mediates the relationship between these dimensions of remote e-work and exhaustion. The results suggested that perceived psychological contract breach mediates the relationship between the three dimensions of remote e-work and exhaustion.Embora os efeitos da pandemia ainda se façam sentir, o mundo tem vindo a adaptar-se a uma nova forma de vida e de trabalho. O trabalho remoto é agora visto como parte integrante do presente e futuro das organizações. Estudos demonstraram que o trabalho remoto pode ter efeitos positivos na vida dos trabalhadores e que efetivamente, existem dimensões durante o trabalho remoto que podem levar os indivíduos a experienciar mais emoções positivas do que negativas. Este estudo avaliou a relação de três dimensões do trabalho remoto - confiança organizacional, flexibilidade e interferência trabalho-vida - com a exaustão através do efeito mediador do conflito trabalho-família e através do efeito mediador da perceção de quebra do contrato psicológico. Para tal, foi desenvolvido um estudo quantitativo (N = 146) dirigido aos trabalhadores que em algum momento experienciaram trabalho remoto, em regime total ou parcial, independentemente da sua nacionalidade ou localização geográfica. Todas as hipóteses foram suportadas pelos resultados, exceto as hipóteses de que a interferência trabalho-vida em trabalho remoto está negativamente relacionada com a exaustão e que conflito trabalho-família medeia a relação entre a interferência trabalho-vida em trabalho remoto e a exaustão. The present work analyses the writings of Mises and Hayek on the relation between a liberal order and a free market, and the role of economic theory in advancing the appreciation of democratic institutions, considering the context of their expositions. Subsequently, it tries to address the contemporary state of political and economic affairs in the light of their teachings, highlighting missing aspects in today’s public debate and what should be taken into account for a coherent defense of the liberal order.El presente trabajo analiza los textos de Mises y Hayek sobre la relación entre el orden liberal y libe mercado, así como el papel de la teoría económica en el avance del reconocimiento de las instituciones democráticas, considerando el contexto de sus exposiciones. This work aims to take advantage of CMOS technology and its reduced cost to research and design active inductors and its integration in circuits. There are many circuits such as LNA, CTLE, CML buffers, voltage mode driver that may require passive inductors to enhance its performance in today's era demand for speed. A study of the different topologies/techniques will be performed with the respective evaluation of their pros and cons. Based on these, a circuit architecture will be proposed and developed integrated within a block circuit with proper validation of the circuit performance parameters like power, ageing, precision, reliability and other relevant parameters

Emerging startup studios in Portugal : organizational characteristics of Portuguese startup studios

There is an emerging trend in the entrepreneurial landscape which promises to become revolutionary: Startup Studios. This emerging incubation model is generally characterized by the development of internally generated ideas and the creation of its own cohort of startups, supported by internal resources and a multidisciplinary team. Despite the Startup Studio model being already highly implemented in bigger and more developed entrepreneurial ecosystems, the infancy of the underlying concept and the diverging way each Startup Studio organizes itself, combined with the lack of academic research on this topic leaves an unclear definition of the Startup Studio concept. This thesis aims to clarify the definition of the Startup Studio concept and its characteristics. Moreover, it focuses on the implementation of the studio incubator model in smaller and emerging entrepreneurial ecosystems to understand if it can be a viable alternative to foster innovation and prompt economic development. Thus, two case studies of Startup Studios in Portugal were conducted. The findings of this analysis revealed that elements like funding, type of founders and exit strategy will be context specific, differing from Startup Studios in bigger economies. However, elements like ideation process, equity distribution, operations and team set up of Startup Studios in smaller and emerging entrepreneurial ecosystem will be like the ones found in more developed entrepreneurial ecosystem. Based on this evidence, a definition for the Startup Studios is suggested as well as the proposition of the possible implication of the studio incubator model in smaller economies.Tem-se observado uma tendência emergente que promete revolucionar o panorama de empreendedorismo: os Startup Studios. Este modelo de incubação emergente é geralmente caracterizado pelo desenvolvimento de ideias geradas internamente e pela criação do seu próprio grupo de startups incubadas, suportado pela utilização de recursos internos e por uma equipa multidisciplinar. Apesar deste modelo já estar largamente implementado em ecossistemas de empreendedorismo mais desenvolvidos, a infância do conceito subjacente e a forma como cada Startup Studio se organiza, em conjunto com a falta de investigação académica sobre este tópico deixa uma definição pouco clara do conceito. Esta tese tem como objetivo esclarecer a definição do conceito do Startup Studio e suas características. Além disso, concentra-se na implementação deste modelo de incubação em ecossistemas de empreendedorismo menores e emergentes, para entender se o mesmo pode ser considerado uma alternativa viável para promover inovação e o desenvolvimento económico destes ecossistemas. Assim, foi conduzido um estudo de caso com dois Startup Studios em Portugal. Os resultados desta análise revelaram que elementos como financiamento, tipo de fundadores e estratégia de saída são específicos ao contexto e diferentes dos observados em Startup Studios em economias mais desenvolvidas. No entanto, elementos como processo de ideação, distribuição de capital, operações e a configuração da equipa nos Startup Studios em ecossistemas de empreendedorismo emergentes serão semelhantes aos encontrados em ecossistemas de empreendedorismo mais desenvolvidos. Com base nestas evidências, sugere-se uma definição para o conceito de Startup Studio, bem como as possíveis implicações que este modelo terá em economias menores

Underwater mapping using a SONAR

Este estudo explora a capacidade física do raio de um sonar mecânico para construir um mapa do ambiente envolvente e encontrar a localização do veículo nesse mesmo mapa. Os dados do sonar alimentam um extrator de pontos de interesse e um algoritmo SLAM. Esse algoritmo é composto por uma implementação de Octomaps, junto com um filtro de partículas. Vários testes foram executados dentro de um ambiente estruturado e os resultados desses testes são demonstrados neste estudo.This study explores the physical capabilities of the beam of a mechanical scanning imaging sonar to build a map of the surrounding environment and to find the location of the vehicle within the map. The data from the sonar feed into a feature extractor and a SLAM algorithm. The SLAM algorithm is composed of an Octomaps implementation together with a particle filter. Several tests were ran within a structured environment and the map of the structured environment as well as the location of the vehicle are presented
