This article is devoted to an analysis of burials with weaponry from the Ostriv graveyard near the River Ros’, about 100 kilometres to the south of Kyiv in the Middle Dnieper area, excavated during 2017 and 2018. Weapons (axes, pila, sword pommels) were discovered in 11 burials, representing approximately 20% of the total number of burials, and about 60% of all male burials investigated in the graveyard. An analysis of the material from the graveyard (weapons and jewellery) refers burials to West Balt migrants: Old Prussians, Curonians and Skalvians. They probably protected hill-forts of Kyivan Rus’ in the Ros’ region. The archaeological finds were supported by historical sources: chronicles of Kyivan Rusʼ. They evidence about the activities of Yaroslav the Wise aimed at reinforcing the southern borders of Kyivan Rus’. But it is hard to say exactly when Yaroslav relocated West Balts to the region of the River Ros’. Nevertheless, according to written sources and archaeological material, it could be dated from 1030 to the middle of the 11th century.Key words: Ostriv graveyard, weapon, Kyivan Rus’, West Balts, Yaroslav the Wise

The purpose of this paper is to introduce into scientific discourse an iron cavalry spur with a wheel discovered at Bolgar fortified settlement during archaeological excavations in 2010. The item can characterize a part of the rider's equipment of the second half of the 13th – first half of the 14th century intended for the execution of tactical cavalry attack manoeuvres associated with a spear strike of heavily-armed cavalry. The external features and material of the item allow the author to suggest primarily its functional and professional use

Chinese current institution and political system are different from the Western developed countries. Under this system, many executives of private listed companies are relevant to politics. Therefore the study of political influence of private companies related to this issue in China is more realistic instructive. This paper focuses on whether the company has the political connection, which measu...

Design and baseline characteristics of the finerenone in reducing cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in diabetic kidney disease trial

Background: Among people with diabetes, those with kidney disease have exceptionally high rates of cardiovascular (CV) morbidity and mortality and progression of their underlying kidney disease. Finerenone is a novel, nonsteroidal, selective mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist that has shown to reduce albuminuria in type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) while revealing only a low risk of hyperkalemia. However, the effect of finerenone on CV and renal outcomes has not yet been investigated in long-term trials. Patients and Methods: The Finerenone in Reducing CV Mortality and Morbidity in Diabetic Kidney Disease (FIGARO-DKD) trial aims to assess the efficacy and safety of finerenone compared to placebo at reducing clinically important CV and renal outcomes in T2D patients with CKD. FIGARO-DKD is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, event-driven trial running in 47 countries with an expected duration of approximately 6 years. FIGARO-DKD randomized 7,437 patients with an estimated glomerular filtration rate >= 25 mL/min/1.73 m(2) and albuminuria (urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio >= 30 to <= 5,000 mg/g). The study has at least 90% power to detect a 20% reduction in the risk of the primary outcome (overall two-sided significance level alpha = 0.05), the composite of time to first occurrence of CV death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke, or hospitalization for heart failure. Conclusions: FIGARO-DKD will determine whether an optimally treated cohort of T2D patients with CKD at high risk of CV and renal events will experience cardiorenal benefits with the addition of finerenone to their treatment regimen. Trial Registration: EudraCT number: 2015-000950-39; ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT02545049

Nepaisant to, remiantis rašytiniais šaltiniais ir archeologine medžiaga, šį perkėlimą galima datuoti 1030 m. - XI a. viduriu. This article is devoted to an analysis of burials with weaponry from the Ostriv graveyard near the River Ros', about 100 kilometres to the south of Kyiv in the Middle Dnieper area, excavated during 2017 and 2018. This article summarizes some preliminary fi ndings of studies in pre-Mongolian layers of Bolgar fortifi ed settlement in 2012, conducted on digs CLXXII and CLXXVI. Situated to the west of the central architectural complex, the edge of the native Volga terrace (dig CLXXII) yielded debris of a defensive moat, which can be identifi ed as the so-called "Zamoshniy wall" described by some Russian military men in 1732 as remnants of pre-Mongolian fortifi cations. The works in the central part (dig CLXXVI) investigated debris of pre-Mongolian dwellings and household facilities, some of which are related to the period of early Bolgar, i.e. the 10th – 11th centuries. The archaeologists documented some traces of metallurgical production here and obtained a collection of ceramics, adornments and household items, which allows dating the material culture of this city to the 10th – 11th centuries and 12th – early 13th centuries
