In this article there are gathered the results of a qualitative research developed in 2010 on ethnic agencies in Spain, born due to the significant growth of immigration in Spain in the last few years. The research methodology used was the Delphi method. The main purpose was to carry out an analysis of trends that will characterize ethnic agencies in coming years

Botryoid odontogenic cyst : clinical and pathological analysis in relation to recurrence

Objetives. Botryoid odontogenic cyst (BOC) is considered as an unusual multilocular variant of lateral periodontal cyst (LPC). Review of the literature indicates that this lesion has higher risk of recurrence than LPC, but objetive reasons are still unknown. The aim of this study is identify main clinical and pathological variables associated with the risk of recurrence. Study design. A complete literature review about cases of BOC was made, from its first description up to the year 2006. A total of 67 cases of BOC were identified from year 1973 (first case) to the last publication in 2005. Results. 85.2% of the BOCs were located in the jaw, affecting to women (54.8% of the cases) in the fifth decade of the life. This lesion shows a well- circumscribed unilocular (60%) or multilocular (40%) radiolucency. Recurrence rate of cases with follw-up data was 32,4%. Conclusions. Size and multilocular patterns could be the main factors associated to recurrence in BOC

    Get PDF
This article provides a ten-year outlook on the evolution of Scientific Communication Journals in Spain, specifically addressing the challenges they will face to ensure their economic sustainability and the measures they will adopt in this regard with respect to their sources of funding, their internal organization and the characteristics of their editorial product. To this end, a Delphi study was carried out with the participation of 28 publishers from the main journals. The results show that financing problems and insufficient support from publishing institutions will persist and in spite of this, role of private financing will continue to be minor. These problems will hinder the competitiveness of communication journals in the context of international scientific publishing, so they will implement measures to try to correct them, such as promoting effective digitization or strengthening and valuing editorial teams.

Promoting effect of CeO2, ZrO2 and Ce/Zr mixed oxides on Co/Γ-Al2O3 catalyst for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis

    Get PDF
A series of cobalt-based catalysts have been synthesized using as support γ-Al2O3 promoted by ceria/zirconia mixed oxides with a variable Ce/Zr molar ratio. The obtained catalysts demonstrated oxide promotion results in the protection of the major textural properties, especially for Zr-rich solids. Reducibility of cobalt species was enhanced by the presence of mixed oxides. The chemical composition of the oxide promoter influenced not only physicochemical properties of final catalysts but also determined their performance during the reaction. In this sense, Zr-rich systems presented a superior catalytic performance both in total conversion and in selectivity towards long chain hydrocarbons. The observed Zr-promotion effect could be explained by two significant contributions: firstly, the partial inhibition of Co–Al spinel compound formation by the presence of Zr-rich phases which enhances the availability of Co actives site and secondly, Zr-associate acidic sites promote higher hydrocarbons selectivity.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad ENE2012-374301-C03-01, ENE2015-66975-C3-2-

Application of mixed reality to ultrasound-guided femoral arterial cannulation during real-time practice in cardiac interventions

    Get PDF
Producción CientíficaMixed reality opens interesting possibilities as it allows physicians to interact with both, the real physical and the virtual computer-generated environment and objects, in a powerful way. A mixed reality system, based in the HoloLens 2 glasses, has been developed to assist cardiologists in a quite complex interventional procedure: the ultrasound-guided femoral arterial cannulations, during real-time practice in interventional cardiology. The system is divided into two modules, the transmitter module, responsible for sending medical images to HoloLens 2 glasses, and the receiver module, hosted in the HoloLens 2, which renders those medical images, allowing the practitioner to watch and manage them in a 3D environment. The system has been successfully used, between November 2021 and August 2022, in up to 9 interventions by 2 different practitioners, in a large public hospital in central Spain. The practitioners using the system confirmed it as easy to use, reliable, real-time, reachable, and cost-effective, allowing a reduction of operating times, a better control of typical errors associated to the interventional procedure, and opening the possibility to use the medical imagery produced in ubiquitous e-learning. These strengths and opportunities were only nuanced by the risk of potential medical complications emerging from system malfunction or operator errors when using the system (e.g., unexpected momentary lag). In summary, the proposed system can be taken as a realistic proof of concept of how mixed reality technologies can support practitioners when performing interventional and surgical procedures during real-time daily practice.
