    Second Amendment Right to Bear Arms, Quilici v. Village of Morton Grove

    From the colonial firelock to today\u27s inexpensive handgun, the United States has toiled over the right to keep and bear arms. In 1981, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois addressed this recurring issue in Quilici v. Village of Morton Grove. The arguments espoused in Quilici consisted of both traditional and novel hypotheses on this uncertain subject. Delivered within an atmosphere of renewed concern over the use and possession of firearms, the arguments in Quilici provide insight into the reasoning on both sides of the gun-control issue.     Anais do V Encontro de Iniciação Científica e I Encontro Anual de Iniciação ao Desenvolvimento Tecnológico e Inovação – EICTI 2016 - 05 e 07 de outubro de 2016 – Sessão Linguística, Letras e ArtesRecobrando sua condição antiga de “terra de promessas”, o Brasil, ao longo das últimas décadas, tem recebido um crescente número de migrantes, especialmente vindos de outros países latino-americanos, de inúmeras nações africanas e de países do oriente médio atingidos por conflitos, como a Síria. Do mesmo modo, o país se transformou em destino para um extenso número de haitianos, desterritorializados pela grande catástrofe natural de 2010, pela degradação econômica oriunda das reincidentes investidas coloniais e pós-coloniais e pela ingerência das nações ocidentais. Esse novo contexto tem exigido, principalmente a partir da crise humanitária na fronteira norte, uma revisão profunda das políticas migratórias, até então delimitadas pela ótica ditatorial de segurança nacional, para um modelo orientado a partir do conceito dos direitos humanos. Além disso, ao passo que tais comunidades confluem e passam a interagir na sociedade brasileira, torna-se cada vez mais clara a precariedade de políticas públicas de inserção produtiva, social e cultural para essas pessoas. Entendendo o princípio da Universidade Pública de construir e compartilhar conhecimentos, este projeto de pesquisa tem o objetivo de investigar políticas linguísticas e culturais de acolhimento destinadas às comunidades migrantes a partir do espaço das IES. A partir do trânsito disciplinar com áreas como a sociologia, antropologia, estudos da linguagem e estudos culturais, a pesquisa procura levantar dados sobre a conjuntura migratória haitiana no Estado do Paraná e observar ações empreendidas por programas da IES da região orientados a essas comunidades, como proposição de políticas linguísticas de acolhimento e programas de ensino do português brasileiro, bem como o estabelecimento de redes de integração cidadã e promoção de diálogos culturais entre as comunidades migrantes e as locais

    Implementation of education for sustainable development in geography subjects among trainee teachers

    Education for sustainable development (ESD) is a truly positive measure. This study was unique in that it made students aware of the positive qualities. Therefore, ESD is crucial to be inculcated among students. If the students are provided with in-depth knowledge related to sustainable development, hence it is not impossible for the sustainable development concept to come true. The study was conducted at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Perak, Malaysia. The respondents involved are geography students who have undergone teacher training in semester 7 and semester 8. This study also focused on the level of knowledge and the level of mastery among trainee teachers on ESD. In addition, this study was carried out for the trainee teachers to obtain the data the on the implementation of ESD values in teaching and learning (T&L) of geography subjects via a survey. Result showed that T&L of geography subjects shall be interesting and challenging so that students can enjoy fun learning. Teachers need to be smart in finding approaches to be tailored to the curriculum, especially in the geography subjects

    Metro TV merupakan salah satu media yang mengalami digitalisasi media. Konvergensi ke media digital tidak terlepas dari internet yang kemudian melahirkan jurnalisme daring. Jurnalisme daring merupakan "generasi baru" dalam dunia jurnalistik sehabis munculnya jurnalisme konvensional, seperti jurnalisme media cetak dan jurnalisme media penyiaran (Romli, 2018, p. 15). Metro TV melakukan digitalisasi dengan membuat situs web metrotvnews.com dan juga memiliki berbagai media sosial, termasuk Instagram dengan nama pengguna @metrotv. Kebanyakan konten yang diunggah dalam akun Instagram Metro TV merupakan produk berita video. Berita video menawarkan cara yang penting bagi sebuah media untuk membedakan diri dari pesaing dan membangun loyalitas para konsumennya. Hal ini merupakan salah satu tuntutan dari konvergensi media di era digital ini. Penulis memilih untuk menjalankan praktik kerja magang di Metro TV karena reputasi Metro TV sebagai media nasional terpercaya yang mampu menghasilkan produk jurnalistik yang berkualitas dan akuntabel.     Limits on the production of scalar leptoquarks from Z (0) decays at LEP

    A search has been made for pairs and for single production of scalar leptoquarks of the first and second generations using a data sample of 392000 Z0 decays from the DELPHI detector at LEP 1. No signal was found and limits on the leptoquark mass, production cross section and branching ratio were set. A mass limit at 95% confidence level of 45.5 GeV/c2 was obtained for leptoquark pair production. The search for the production of a single leptoquark probed the mass region above this limit and its results exclude first and second generation leptoquarks D0 with masses below 65 GeV/c2 and 73 GeV/c2 respectively, at 95% confidence level, assuming that the D0lq Yukawa coupling alpha(lambda) is equal to the electromagnetic one. An upper limit is also given on the coupling alpha(lambda) as a function of the leptoquark mass m(D0)

    Non disponible / Not availableLes objectifs de ce travail de thèse étaient l'étude et le contrôle du procédé de croissance de diamant par dépôt chimique en phase vapeur assisté par plasma micro-onde (MPACVD). Il s'agissait d'optimiser les conditions de fonctionnement d'un réacteur de dépôt de conception originale, de développer et de mettre en oeuvre des techniques d'analyse optique in situ du plasma et de la surface, et d'étudier et de maîtriser les mécanismes de nucléation et de croissance du diamant, afin d'obtenir des films présentant les propriétés requises en vue de leur intégration dans des dispositifs à ondes acoustiques de surface (SAW), à savoir une épaisseur suffisante, une très faible rugosité et une résistance électrique de surface élevée. Les conditions de fonctionnement du réacteur de synthèse ont été améliorées et contrôlées, et un système de surveillance électronique permettant de sécuriser son utilisation a été mis au point. Une méthode d'analyse optique in situ des surfaces en temps réel par pyrométrie interferentielle (IP), reposant sur la modélisation des variations d'émissivité du système film/substrat durant la synthèse, a été développée. Elle rend possible l'estimation de certains paramètres physiques et cinétiques : indice de réfraction complexe du film et du substrat, temps d'incubation, température réelle du système et vitesse de croissance du film. Le dispositif concu pour l'étude du plasma est un système d'analyse par spectroscopie optique d'émission résolue dans l'espace (SROES) qui permet de réaliser des profils radiaux et axiaux ou des cartographies 2D de l'intensité d'émission des espèces radiatives caractéristiques du plasma.     Kepuasan kerja serta kinerja karyawan di perusahaan juga tidak terhindarkan dari sentuhan gaya kepemimpinan di perusahaan. PT PLN (Persero) UIW Suluttenggo sendiri tidak hanya sekali berganti kepemimpinan, atau bahkan di setiap departemen tak jarang juga berganti kepemimpinan sehingga ada karyawan yang mengalami ketidakcocokan dengan pimpinan yang baru. Dari adanya ketidakcocokan tersebut bisa menimbulkan permasalahan yang bisa menghambat upaya untuk memperoleh tujuan yang sudah ditentukan sebelumnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji dan menganalisis hubungan antara servant leadership, gaya kepemimpinan otoriter, dan gaya kepemimpinan partisipatif terhadap kinerja karyawan melalui kepuasan kerja pada karyawan PT PLN (Persero) UIW Suluttenggo. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif berdasarkan kajian prinsip rasional empirik. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner, dan populasinya karyawan PT PLN (Persero) UIW Suluttenggo dengan jumlah sampel, yakni: 125 responden. Data dianalisis menggunakan SEM-PLS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Servant leadership, gaya kepemimpinan otoriter dan gaya kepemimpinan partisipasif memiliki hubungan yang positif pada kinerja karyawan. Begitu juga pada Servant leadership, gaya kepemimpinan otoriter dan gaya kepemimpinan partisipasif memiliki hubungan yang positif pada kepuasan karyawan. Kepuasan kerja mempunyai hubungan positif pada kinerja karyawan. Oleh karena itu, ketika kepuasan kerja seorang karyawan meningkat, maka akan berdampak positif terhadap kinerjanya. Dari beberapa kendala yang muncul pada PT PLN (Persero) UIW Suluttenggo, pemimpin/manajer tetap berusaha untuk menghargai karyawannya dengan memberikan jaminan-jaminan yang dibutuhkan baik secara fisik maupun psikologis, hal tersebut akan memenuhi tingkat kebutuhan karyawan untuk termotivasi dalam bekerja. ================================================================================================ Job satisfaction and employee performance in the company are also unavoidable from the touch of the leadership style in the company, even in PT PLN (Persero) UIW Suluttenggo. PT PLN (Persero) UIW Suluttenggo itself has not only changed leadership once, or even in each department it is not uncommon to also change leader so that there are employees who experience incompatibility with the new leadership. The existence of this incompatibility can cause problems that can hinder efforts to achieve predetermined goals. This study aims to examine and analyze the relationship between servant leadership, authoritarian leadership style, and participatory leadership style on employee performance through job satisfaction at PT PLN (Persero) UIW Suluttenggo employees. This research is a descriptive quantitative research based on the study of empirical rational principles. The data was collected using a questionnaire, and the population was employees of PT PLN (Persero) UIW Suluttenggo with the number of samples, namely: 125 respondents. Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS. The results showed that Servant leadership, authoritarian leadership style and participative leadership style have a positive relationship on employee performance. Likewise in Servant leadership, authoritarian leadership style and participatory leadership style have a positive relationship on employee satisfaction. Job satisfaction has a positive relationship on employee performance. Therefore, when an employee's job satisfaction increases, it will have a positive impact on the performance
